Chapter 17

Iwash my hands in the kitchen sink, regretting I won’t have the scent of Mikey on me all day.

I’ve never, not once, hated being the town’s Cupid.

It’s something I’ve enjoyed and look forward to every year, even if it means spending my birthday with one of my nipples exposed.

I love watching the initial spark between two people glow brighter when I introduce them to their potential soulmate, and I love having a day dedicated to love.

I love the bustle of the town, the music, the food, the overall excitement permeating the air.

Today, I wish I could spend my birthday at home, naked, wrapped in the woman of my dreams, making her come so many times her body is spent.

I want to spend the entire day memorizing every freckle, scar, stretch mark, and birth mark.

I want to learn everything I can about her, watch our favorite movies, play our favorite songs, and listen to her talk about her favorite books.

The secret I’m keeping from her makes me hesitant to go further with her. Is it such a big deal I purposely broke my van to see her? Part of me thinks it’s not, but a bigger part is worried she’ll think I’m absolutely insane and run for the hills.

I truly didn’t mean to barge into the guest room. I panicked that in the time it took me to shower, she decided she didn’t want to stay. In my defense, the door was slightly cracked, and I assumed it meant she wasn’t in there.

I definitely didn’t expect to walk in and find her looking like some type of siren.

Mikey is stunning in her coveralls covered in grease with her hair pulled away from her face. She was ethereal last night in my clothes, her hair in loose waves down her back. Absolutely breathtaking when I had my mouth on her pussy, her face flushed with pleasure as I made her come.

But seeing her wrapped in my third favorite color, the lace giving me a teasing peek of her nipples?

The blood rushed to my cock so fast I got a little dizzy.

It’s not even the lingerie that got me, not totally. It was the way she was standing, looking at her body with confidence. Almost like she was seeing herself for the first time.

I didn’t plan on fingering her in front of a mirror, but she kissed me so greedily, and I couldn’t leave her needy all day. I just wish I had more time.

God, I wish we didn’t need to go to this parade.

Tucking my still-hard dick into the waistband of my briefs, I try to clear my head of the lust pumping through my veins. I have a job to do, and it doesn’t include tossing Mikey over my shoulder and sliding home between her thighs.

At least not right now.

Mikey comes out of the bathroom and slips on her boots. I want to turn around and look at her, but I’m afraid if I do I won’t be able to control my lust at all.

“I’m ready. Do we need to take anything else with us?” she asks.

“Nope, we’re all good.”

“Do you want to drive so you don’t have to give me directions?” Mikey breaches my line of sight and holds the keys out. I don’t know why her letting me drive her truck feels like a pivotal moment.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes. I trust you.”

Those words hit me right in the chest. I search her teal eyes for any hesitancy, but I don’t find it.

This is it.

I can practically feel the shift in her. She may not be ready to sign her name next to mine on a marriage certificate, but this is a big step.

“Thank you.” I take the keys from her, my thumb tracing over a mini wrench keychain I hadn’t noticed before. “Let’s get going, then, so you can see me in action.”

Mikey looks me up and down, suspicion on her face. “Are you not wearing a coat? I don’t want you to freeze.”

I grab my coat from the closet. It makes the outfit less effective, but I don’t want my nipple to fall off. “If I get too cold, you can warm me up.” I pump my eyebrows suggestively, and Mikey smiles while shaking her head.

“Okay, Cupid. Let’s get this show on the road.”

The cheers from the hordes of people lining Main Street are deafening as I walk in front of the parade. It fills me with pride to see this many people here supporting our small town.

When I was originally asked to be Cupid, Loralee insisted I act as Grand Marshall. I walk in front of the procession with Slater following behind, Cupid’s Cove’s official town flag waving from the back of his motorcycle.

Slater hates that I make him do this, but he loves to show off his red 1995 Honda Gold Wing.

Restored and painted by him, it’s his pride and joy.

As much as he grumbles about it, I know he secretly loves the attention.

He’s always had a reputation as a sort of delinquent, even though his worst crime is graffitiing the old auto shop he now owns.

He has a denim jacket with his garage’s logo on it, and the parade has brought him a lot of business.

The energy from the crowd is thrilling. The first year I played Cupid, our crowd mostly consisted of locals and a handful of tourists. People didn’t know about Cupid’s Cove, but the age of online videos and social media influencers helped put us on the map.

One viral video about a man dressed as a cherub who pairs people with their forever partner and the crowd quadrupled. The town’s tourism increased, and not just on Valentine’s Day, but year round. It’s done wonders for the small businesses here, and I take pride in knowing I was a part of it.

We’re passing the bakery, and my eyes scan the crowd for my girl.

I was hoping she’d have a front row seat to watch me in action, but when I finally find her familiar cocoa waves, she’s not even paying attention.

Mikey’s head is thrown back in laughter as Ruby’s shoulders shake next to her.

Stella slaps Ruby’s shoulder to get her attention then points towards the parade.

Ruby nudges Mikey and motions in my direction, and Mikey finally looks my way with a huge grin on her face.

When our gazes lock, it feels like the string between us tugs in my stomach. I toss her a wink and blow her a kiss. Her cheeks turn even pinker as she waves back, reminding me how she flushed when I had my fingers in her pussy this morning.

Now is not the time to get a hard-on.

I look away before I get too lost in my thoughts. I catch Ruby’s face pinch into a scowl, but it’s directed at Slater behind me. I turn just in time to see Slater winking at her before revving his bike and focusing back on the road.

What is going on between those two?

I steal one last look at Mikey before I focus back on the rest of the crowd. I don’t matchmake during the parade, but I like to look at the unfamiliar faces to see if anyone sticks out.

A group of people who look to be in their mid-twenties catches my eye. Three of the five are wearing the hot pink wristbands indicating they’re searching for love. I memorize each of their faces, tuning into whatever it is that helps me recognize who belongs together.

Blue vest guy and pink bow.

My eyes dart between the two. They’re in the same group, separated by two of their friends. Blue vest guy keeps stealing longing glances at the woman with a pink bow in her hair as she smiles at whatever their friend is saying.

It’s like there’s a bright neon sign above them saying they’re meant to be together.

I can feel it in my bones. I veer off route, approaching the group.

Blue Vest straightens, his eyes widening as I approach Pink Bow.

Something looking a lot like possessiveness flares in his eyes, confirming my suspicions he already wants her.

I hold back a smug grin. Something’s kept him from making a move, but I’ll figure it out and help him work through whatever’s holding him back.

“Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m Cupid, if you can’t tell, and I’m here to help you find love. Who’s looking for it today?”

The three with the hot pink wristbands raise their hands. Blue Vest does it almost reluctantly, but Pink Bow’s arm shoots up with so much enthusiasm I’m worried she dislocated her shoulder.

“What are your names?”

“I’m Sienna, this is Emily, and that’s Dominic.” Pink Bow—Sienna—points to herself, then her friend, then Blue Vest.

“Nice to meet you all,” I say. “Dominic, come find me after the parade. I have someone in mind for you.”

Sienna’s jaw drops. “Already? But we just got here!”

“Love doesn’t wait for anyone. It’s up to you to grab onto it.” I look back at Dominic who seems a little scared. He won’t be when I tell him Sienna is his match.

Hopefully.

“After the parade?” I confirm.

Dominic nods, and with final goodbyes to everyone, I continue down the street. By the time I reach the end, I have a match idea for Emily and another couple in mind.

The familiar giddy feeling I get when I’m helping people find love puts an extra pep in my step.

I hope all of them are open to it.

I head back to the café to get warm and check on my workers in case they need something from me. I snag two cups of hot chocolate and head towards the back door, intent on finding Mikey.

She walks in right as I reach the back door.

“Hey! Oh my god, the parade was—”

I set the hot chocolates down on the table we use to hold packages and snag her wrist, pulling her into my office. I press her up against the closed door while my mouth meets hers in a feverish kiss. It’s only been two hours since I touched her, but it feels like a lifetime.

Mikey’s arms wrap around my neck as mine wrap around her waist, our bodies fitting together like two pieces of a puzzle. Images of her in the mirror this morning flash in my mind, and I’m hard in an instant. I want her so goddamn badly, but once again, we don’t have enough time.

I pull back and rest my forehead on hers, trailing a hand around the front of her pants and toying with the button. “Can I make you come again, sweetheart? Let me feel your pussy pulse around my fingers again. Leave me with a taste to get me through the rest of the day.”

Mikey shakes her head. “Let me make you come, Daddy. I want to taste you. Can I suck your cock? Please?”
