Chapter 43

It had been a blissful blur to the hotel. Neither of them could focus with the palpable tension which had formed the moment they’d left the theater.

The hotel they were staying at was modern with classic French furnishing. They were escorted by a manager who greeted Nicolas by the front doors.

“Mr. Re, it’s our utmost pleasure to welcome you.

We’re confident that our establishment offers the facilities to make your stay with this young lady truly memorable.

” The middle-aged man gestured toward the front desk, where a female receptionist looked at them expectantly.

“Your assistant has already checked in and your luggage is in your suite.”

David strode over to Nicolas handing him the key card.

“Thank you,” Nicolas said.

He wrapped his arm around Emily and guided her to the elevator. She felt the sparks his touch brought. It was silly of her to still be so affected by him doing the bare minimum. Even so, her heart couldn’t function properly when he was holding her.

Moreover, it was torture when the two of them entered the enclosed space to go up to their floor and he still hadn’t let her go.

Overwhelmed by a thousand emotions, Emily folded her arms to break his hold and shuffled away from him.

He looked at her oddly. “Is everything okay?”

She cleared her throat as the temperature in the elevator rose drastically at his voice. “I-I’m fine. Just a little hot.”

Nicolas arched a brow at her and then shifted in her direction, eyes narrowing. “Nice ring by the way.”

She looked down, catching the way the diamond hit the light. Her grin couldn’t be contained.

He looked satisfied that his distraction had worked.

“Thanks, I got it from this super handsome man tonight.”

Nicolas smirked. “Oh yeah? Should I be jealous?”

Her eyes sparkled. “Depends on whether you’re willing to share.”

“You know I’m fucking not,” he snapped, stepping closer. “Matter of fact, I’d like to meet the guy.”

“To do what?”

“Talk.”

“Just talk?”

Nicolas’s eyes gleamed at their little role-play as he closed the distance, each step forcing Emily backward until the chill of the wall pressed against her spine.

His arm shot out, palm resting beside her head, and the other followed quickly, trapping her between his body and the surface. He bent his neck so that his eyes were directly in front of her, and Emily was hit with all that exquisite masculinity.

The same tension from earlier came back in full force.

As if a veil was uncovered from his eyes, those dark orbs revealed a scorching fire that almost knocked her off balance.

With his gaze flickering down to her lips, he dipped his head. “You know what? Why talk to him when I can do this to you instead?”

And then he gave her a toe-curling kiss.

Emily matched his pace, every move heated until the struggle became more about who refused to bend first.

Her stomach clenched at the sheer pleasure as he didn’t hold back, hands roaming through her hair. He tugged at it while biting down on her bottom lip and releasing it with a pop.

Running his hands down the length of her arms until they stopped onto her hips, Nicolas took in her flushed state.

“You’re such a temptation. Though there’s probably a camera somewhere here capturing all of this, you make me reckless enough not to care. I want to kiss you again, touch you…” he trailed off, getting sidetracked by her swollen lips.

She couldn’t help glowing. His words, his tone, the way his gaze fell upon her. They all made her fall so much deeper in love with him.

She guessed he saw it in her expression because he groaned as if he was in pain.

“Don’t look at me like that if you’re not prepared to be fucked inside this elevator.”

“What if I am?”

A hiss of an inhale left him.

The ping of the elevator door came right after.

“Let’s get the hell out of here before I take you against these walls and give the damn tabloids something else to write about.”

She gasped as he took her by the hand and led her down the hallway.

Finding their door, Nicolas inserted the key card and then removed it, opening the suite. Emily hadn’t the time to admire the place. Only the basics caught her eyes; that it was large, the interiors had black and white floors, oak furniture, and a world-class view of the Eiffel Tower.

Stepping forward to admire it closely, she felt a hand tug at her body, causing it to slam into something hard.

That hard thing was Nicolas.

His fingers came up and caressed the side of her face. “You’re a dream come true,” he sighed, making her face flush hot.

She studied him, taking in every line and plane of his face. “So are you.”

He lifted a brow at her but said nothing as his index finger caressed the skin at the junction of her neck. “Turn around, Emily.”

Her eyes almost closed due to a surge of arousal at his tone. It was authoritative. Her response was automatic, facing the view of the Eiffel Tower. The room was lit with nothing other than the light shining from the entrance and the stars outside.

Everything intensified when all his five fingers spread across her exposed cleavage. Her body trembled as he started drawing patterns.

Her weakness for him came with a, “Please.”

He turned her around to face him. “What exactly are you asking for?”

He brought her left hand wearing the diamond ring to his lips and kissed it.

Biting down onto her lip, Emily whispered, “You.”

“Baby, you know who I am. Be more specific.”

Her eyes snapped to his. “I want you to kiss me.”

“Where?”

She touched her lips. “Here.” A second of consideration glossed over her eyes and she corrected herself. “Everywhere.”

“Now that’s my type of answer.”

Nicolas wrapped his arm around her and lifted her up off the floor.

She released a high-pitched sound as he held her to him.

He made long strides to the bedroom. Her brows lifted at the arrangement of rose petals in the center of the bed which made the shape of a heart.

After he lay her down amidst them, she propped herself on her elbows as he slowly unbuttoned his shirt, holding her gaze the entire time.

She swallowed as the material slipped off his shoulders and exposed his perfect body. Something about this man undressing brought her to her knees.

He climbed on top of her. His eyes scanned her from head to toe before they came right back up. “Do you trust me?”

Emily’s nerves were a wreck at the question.

All this time she’d imagined what this situation would be like when it happened. She’d even frequently pushed for it, intentionally getting on his nerves. But now that it had become a reality, her hands were clammy and her heart rate spiked.

Nicolas covered her hand resting on the bed with his and gave it a light squeeze.

Instantly, all her concerns melted away.

This man was gazing at her as if she was the most precious thing in the world.

With the person she loved looking at her like this, what was there to fear?

“I do.” She nodded. “I trust you.”

He kissed the top of her head. “Thank you, baby. Now lie back and let me make you feel good.”
