5. Ciera
I can’t believe how my mom was acting about her man living here, but I guess it’s time to get my own shit anyway. I decided to go and try to talk to my mom again. Walking to her room, I heard her talking to Mark, so I just stood in the hall and listened.
“Mark, I’m tired of my daughters thinking that they could do and say what they want to me just because they don’t like you.
I’ve worked job after endless job, taking care of their ungrateful asses!
The way we are with each other is the reason I want this to work, fuck what my daughters think,” my mom said to Mark.
“I just don’t want to bring trouble your way. I can stay with one of my friends for a while,” Mark replied.
“Fuck that! You will stay with me, end of discussion. They are fucking grown, so they can get the fuck out and live their lives!” my mom yelled. I just turned around, pissed off and hurt.
How could she be so damn cruel to me and Ari all of a sudden? I had already called my grandmother and told her what happened, so I’m sure mom will hear from her. One thing my Grandmother Lai didn’t do was play about me and Ari.
As I was walking in my room, I saw my mom come out her room, look at me with a mug on her face, and then she walked out the door. Yep, it’s time for me to roll. I decided to lay down and check my appointments for my customers that wanted their lashes done.
“Hey, sis.” Ari came in my room and sat down on my bed. “What are you going to do now that Mark is going to be living here?” She asked.
“I’m out, Ari. I can’t stay here, that guy freaks me the fuck out. It’s something up with him, and mom is acting so damn brand new I don’t know what to think. You can always come with me, you don’t have to stay here.”
“I know, sis, but I’m going to stay until I graduate,” Ari said.
I was so proud of her. She was so focused on school and getting her education.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
“What the fuck is that?!” I said, getting off the bed, looking at Ari.
“Sounds like someone banging on the door,” she said.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Ari, and I ran out the room, heading to the door. Mark came out of my mom’s room as I swung the door open.
“Where she at?” my grandma, Laila, came rushing in, followed by her best friend, Ms. Cynt.
“Where she at?” she yelled again. Grandma had some black stripes under her eyes, black tights, and a t-shirt that read, knock a bitch out, and her face was real shiny.
“Grandma, what are you doing? What do you have on your face?” I asked her.
“Not now, Ciera! Not when I’m in fuck a bitch up mode!”
Ari and I looked at each other and burst out laughing. Grandma was looking around, and she spotted Mark.
“And who the fuck you supposed to be?” She asked Mark.
“How you doing, ma’am? I’m Mark, Angela’s boyfriend,” he responded.
“Ohhhhhhhh, you the ugly nigga she picked over my beautiful grandbabies. Well, get yo’ shit, nigga; you gotta go!”
“Excuse me, ma’am, I think that’s Angela’s decision to make.”
My grandma swung her head around and looked at Ms. Cynt.
“Cynt, who this nigga talking to?”
“I think he talkin’ to yo’ ass, Lai.”
“Nawww,” she said, shaking her head, “He can’t be talkin’ to me.”
My grandma walked up on Mark, staring at him like she was ready to beat his ass.
“Yeah, you look like you gotta a lot of bitch in you.” She took her Holy Oil out, poured some in her hands and before Mark could say anything she hauled off and slapped the shit out of him!
“What the hell! Ma, what are you doing? Why the hell did you put your hands on him?” My mom rushed over to where Grams and Mark was standing. It was a good thing that he didn’t react to my Grams hitting him.
“Angela, you have to be the dumbest fool I know! How are you gone choose a man, that you have only known for two minutes, over your kids?” Grams yelled.
“Mom, I’m a grown woman, and my daughters are grown, it’s time they moved on and got their own shit!” she yelled, causing Grandma to haul off and slap her ass too!
“How you gone just come in here, mom, going off on my man and then you got a nerve to be putting your hands on us?” my mom fussed.
“Angela, I can do whatever I want. Who gone stop me? Not you, and damn sho’ not this lil’ puss bitch ass nigga!” Grams screamed at her.
Ari and I ran over to pull her away, and Mark grabbed my mom.
“Keep fucking wit’ me, Angela. I promise you won’t be happy until I drop my foot off in yo’ ass!
Got my babies over here stressed, because you a hoe!
” Grams yelled. Ari was ducked off in the kitchen laughing so hard and I couldn’t help but laugh with her.
My mother was so damn mad, she went into her room, and Mark’s tired ass followed her.
“Come on, grandma, let me walk you out,” I said.
“Ok, baby. I have to get back on my side of town, so I can go check on my sexy young thang and pick me up some feel good.”
“Love you, grandma,” Ari said as she came over, and hugged her.
“I love y’all too, babies. If y’all need me, call me and I will be right over.”
After walking my grandma out and making sure she was securely in the car, I walked back in the house laughing and shaking my head. Ari was still laughing, and I joined her because our old lady was something else. She was sixty-five but acted as if she was thirty.
“Girl, grams was on one!”
“Yes, she was!” I said. “Oh, sis, I forgot to tell you… I met the new CEO of the bank today. Bitch, he was so fucking fine, I was ready to bust it wide open for a nigga!”
Ari stood there with her mouth wide open. “Damn, he must have been real fine,” Ari said. “Cause you ain’t never say no shit like that about any man.”
“Sis, this man was everything,” I smirked.
“Funny, you say that. I met this rude ass nigga today at my school and he had me feeling the same way. He ran into me and knocked my shit out my hand; I wanted to fuck his ass up! I let him live though!”
I burst out laughing at my sister’s ass. I guess we know where we get our craziness from. Grams!
“Well, let’s ride to the mall so we can get right for this new club you want us to hit up tomorrow night!” I suggested, and we left the house.
“Sis, it’s called Velvet, and that shit is going to be lit as fuck! All the hood niggas gone be up in that shit and I’m ready. You never know, I might meet my husband in there,” Ari spoke, turning the music up as we drove to the mall.
We made it to the mall, and it seemed like we went in every damn store they had.
“Let’s go; I need to make it to Manhattan to get to the Gucci store before they close.” I wanted to see if they had the bag I was looking for. I had been saving my money just to get this purse.
When we made it there, Ari said she needed to run in the Apple store, while I went to Gucci.
When I got to the door, the security guard said it was closed for the next two hours, because someone was shopping.
The only time they did that shit is if someone rich, or a celebrity wanted to shop.
Shit, they’re closed for the next two hours, so that means come back tomorrow because the store closes at ten.
As I turned to head back to my car, the security guard was calling me to come back.
“Ma’am! Ma’am!” he yelled out.
“Yeah?” I said, looking at him.
“We were told to let you in,” he smiled. I walked in the store happy as hell that I didn’t have to come back tomorrow.
