3. Ari

I was scared for me and Kari’s life when we were kidnapped. All I knew was that if I died, I needed to save that little girl’s life. I couldn’t believe that Mike and the dude that was supposed to be Zelan’s dad had kidnapped us. I was so glad they were dead!

We left the hospital and came back to the safe house so I could get cleaned up and get back to the hospital with Zelan.

That’s where I would be staying until he was released.

I was not leaving his side for one second.

Hell, I didn't want to leave him now, but I had to get changed because I hadn't changed my clothes since we were snatched from the mall.

“Ari, baby are you okay?" Ms. Kassom asked.

“Yes, ma. I’m fine. Kari is still a little shaken up, and I’m worried about Zelan. I just pray that all of this is behind us now,” I said just as Kari’s bitch of a mother appeared.

“I will take my daughter up and get her ready for bed. Kari, let’s go get you in bed, baby,” Kenya said, and Kari moved closer to me, wrapping her little arms around my leg.

“I want to sleep in the room with you Aunt Ari until my daddy comes. Can I please?” Kari asked.

“Awww sweetie, I have to go back to the hospital, but maybe you can sleep with your grandmother, if that is fine with her,” I told her.

“Ari, baby, I was so worried about you. I’m glad my boys handled that shit! Because Lai was ready to hit these streets and raise all types of hell!” Grams said, walking into the room.

“Excuse me, can you not use that type of language in front of my daughter?” Kenya snapped at Grams. Grams turned her head so damn quick, I just knew her ass was gonna have whiplash.

"Sadie, can you take Kari upstairs, please?” Ms. Simone asked one of Kari’s nannies.

“Yes, ma’am.” Sadie grabbed Kari’s hand, and they went upstairs. As soon as they were out of eyesight Grams went in.

“Look you little biscuit head bitch! I don’t know who the hell you talking to, but you better watch your damn mouth when you’re addressing Lai, Ari, and Ciera.

‘Cause I’ll stick my nine down your damn throat and have my bullets play around in your muthafuckin’ tonsils BITCH!

Fuck wit it if you want!” Grams said to Kenya.

“I don’t think you know who you’re talking to. My husband is Jue—” Kenya tried to speak but Grams cut her off.

“I don’t give two fucks about who your husband is, but I’ll do you one better go tell your husband what I said, and I’ll be waiting for him to address me HOE! Bet that shit won’t get you far,” Grams said to Kenya.

"You can't speak to me that way, I’ll beat your ass in here, old lady!” Kenya yelled. Lai slapped Kenya so damn quick and hard no one was able to stop it.

“What you say? Say it again so I can knock some more stupid off yo ugly ass! You gon’ learn today. You gon pay if you fuck with Lai!” Grams said and turned to Simone.

"I know we haven't been introduced the right way, and you seeing me act up don’t help. But when you deal with stupid, you have to try to slap some sense back in their stupid ass. I’m, Laila.

Ari and Ciera’s grandmother of course, and I’m sorry I had to show my ass tonight.

I’m really close with your sons, I love those boys like they were my own.

It doesn’t hurt that they fine as hell too!

Girl, you did that shit when you had them, babies.

Give me a high five!” Grams laughed, and so did Ms. Simone. She raised her hand to high five Grams.

“Grams, behave please. Kenya let me tell you something, don’t ever in your miserable ass life disrespect my grandmother. I promise you, you won’t like the outcome!” I told her.

“Somebody better tell her who she messing with, cause I’m not the one or the two. I’m an old school playa, touched with that new school goon mentality boo boo!” Grams said, still going off on Kenya.

"It's nice to meet you, Laila. It’s all good, honey, I too, demand respect. I'm Simone and thank you for the compliment on my sons; they are some handsome young men. I know Ari well, I’m her professor at NYU,” Ma Simone said. One of the guards came into the house.

“Ms. Ari, we have the car ready for you whenever you are ready to head back,” he stated.

“I will be ready in a few,” I told him. I turned around and headed upstairs so that I could handle my hygiene and change.

I stopped in Kari’s room to tell her nanny to keep a close watch on her.

She said that she would, so I was content with that.

Walking in my room, I decided to call Ciera again, I had called her while we were at the hospital but didn’t get an answer.

Her voicemail picked up, so I decided to leave her a message.

“Ciera, this is Ari, I was just checking on you. Call me when you get this message.” I ended the call and thought about it, Ci left because she needed to get herself together.

I wanted her to do that and not worry about us, so I wasn’t sure if I was going to tell her what happened or not.

I would run it by Ma Lai later to see what her thoughts were about it.

About an hour later, I was dressed and headed back downstairs to leave when my phone was ringing.

“Hey baby, I’m leaving now to come back up there,” I said into the phone. "That's good because I need you with me, baby. Where is Ma Lai?” Zelan asked.

“She is right here with your mom,” I responded.

“Put me on speaker, I need to tell them both something,” Zelan said. I placed the call on speaker and let him know he could talk.

“Ma don’t let Kari go anywhere with Kenya, I can’t talk about it now, but watch what she does with Kari,” Zel said to his mother.

"Ok, son. I got it,” Ma Simone responded.

"You gon’ be alright, son?" Grams asked him.

“Yeah, ma. I’m good. Y’all get some rest. Lai, make sure you stay at the safe house with my mother until we figure all this shit out. I can’t have you at home right now, and don’t give them guards a hard time Ma,” Zel said to Grams.

“Boy hush and get you some damn business! I did see a couple of them guards and they fine as hell too. Lai bout to see what she can get herself into, fuck around, I might come up pregnant,” she said laughing and we all burst out laughing.

A few minutes later I ended the call with Zel and spoke to Grams and Simone before I left to go back to the hospital. Finally, I made it back to Zelan.

“Hey beautiful, I’m glad you’re back,” Zelan greeted me when I walked in the room.

“Baby, I’m so glad you’re ok. Thank you for saving me.”

“Girl, I will always come for you, and they had my other baby there too. I would get shot over and over again as long as I know y’all are alright,” he spoke looking sleepy.

“Get you some rest baby. I will be right here when you wake up,” I spoke

“Ari,” he said as his eyes started closing.

“Yeah, babe. What’s up?” I asked.

“I need some pussy; a nigga had a stressful day.”

“Boy if you don’t take your ass to sleep! I’m not giving you nothing, not to mention you’re hurt and in the damn hospital!” I laughed.

“Girl, if you don’t get yo ass over here and hop on this dick, I’ma raise all kinds of hell!”

“Babe, we don’t have any condoms.”

“Damn. You safe for now cause you know Z don’t miss! We got shit to do before we start having babies,” he said.

“I know that’s right!” I said leaning down to kiss his lips. The nurse walked in and took his vitals.

“How are you feeling, Mr. Kassom?” She asked.

“I’m in a little pain, but I’ll be alright,” Zelan told her.

“Well I’m going to give you something for pain, and hopefully you can get some rest,” she stated.

Once the nurse gave him his medicine, Zel dozed off to sleep.

I decided to go downstairs to get something to eat from the cafeteria.

The guard walked me down because Juelz left strict instructions, he said.

As we were going down, I got a call from Juelz again begging me to tell him where Ciera was.

This nigga had lost his mind! He married another bitch, hurting my sister in the process.

He could suck a dick on that one, real shit!
