Chapter 4 #2

“Bitch!” Minx shoved her toward Luna, and she pushed her right back, making Rye hit the ground, scraping her legs on the concrete sidewalk.

“Aw hell nah!” Shyenne screamed and rushed Luna.

She didn’t get far, because Luna knocked her around with her fists until she stumbled backward and hit the ground.

Minx and Luna kicked their asses up and down that sidewalk for everybody to see, walked off like some boss bitches so that they could get something to eat.

Rye and her friend were left discombobulated and aiding each other to their feet while they strut off with their heads held high.

“What was it we needed to talk about?” Rose stepped into is gym and joined Nadia in the back office.

He was tired of avoiding her. Since shit was progressing with Minx, he had to get a handle on her so that she didn’t try to come through on some bullshit.

Nadia reclined back in her chair and clasped her hands together while studying him.

He was in combat mode, like she was his enemy, and she didn’t appreciate that.

With a heavy sigh, she shook her head and let it fall to the back of the chair.

“I thought I’d given you enough time to cool off,” she noted.

“Am I supposed to believe you really carrying my seed, if you even fucking pregnant?”

“What reason do I have to lie, Rose? When have I ever lied to you in the past?” Nadia questioned, giving him reason to pause and consider what she was saying.

“I ain’t been in town that long—”

“But we did link up in Miami as well. The dates match,” she reminded him.

Fuck! Rose cursed himself. Closing his eyes, he remained silent for a brief moment.

He took a seat on the sofa in the corner of his office and lifted one arm to the back while crossing his leg over the other.

He and Nadia faced one another, kind of squaring off .

He was still skeptical as fuck. True, Nadia had never done no scandalous shit in the past. Shit between them hadn’t been good, and Rose knew when to let some shit go.

He knew that what he felt for Minx would always interfere with anything else, so it was best to keep other bitches at arm’s length.

Nadia was the only one that got close enough to scratch the surface of him.

“So what you want from me, Nadia?”

She scoffed, rolling her eyes as she brought herself to her feet and faced the desk.

“Nothing, Rose.” She shook her head. “Just go about your fucking life.”

“I want a DNA test,” he said, standing and causing her sto damn near catch whiplash when she faced him.

Stunned, hurt and indignant, she couldn’t believe he’d question or challenge her like this.

All for that bitch Minx. She was only offended because she knew she was moving foul.

Nadia didn’t know who her baby daddy was, but she was banking on Forrest since she’d been spending more time in the sheets with him than anybody.

“Go to hell!” She snapped at him.

“This ain’t even no disrespect shit, Nadia. I want it for my own peace of mind. I don’t want to be second-guessing shit,” Rose voiced. Nodding, her eyes drifted to the ground.

“So am I right to assume that you and this bitch Minx are together?” she inquired, pressing her back against the desk and facing him with her arms crossed.

“I ain’t here to talk about me and Minx. She ain’t got shit to do with this. Don’t talk about her, and don’t bring shit up to her. She already knows what’s going on. Ain’t no secrets between us.”

“Hmm, mature,” Nadia spoke with sarcasm as she laughed to herself. “Well, since I have a child to think about now and all, it’s only right that I take a few precautions, plan ahead.” She shuffled a few papers together and held them out for Rose.

“The fuck is this?” He snatched them and skimmed quickly. His menacing stare slowly found hers when he was done.

“This what you been on behind my back?” he demanded.

“I’m securing my future since you seem to be unclear on where your loyalties lie. I gotta make sure me and my child are good. You made it clear that Minx will always come before everything,” Nadia explained.

The warm temp from Rose’s body assaulted her from behind.

He was standing right there, and her heart thundered against her ribcage.

Being that close to him reminded her of all of the times they’d had together.

Closing her eyes, Nadia held her breath.

She knew that Rose was unhinged and unpredictable.

He brought his hand to her waist and his lips against her ear.

With how she was feeling and how he had her own body betraying her, she felt herself wanting him, and she couldn’t fight it.

“You trying me right now, Nadia. I take a lot of shit from you, but this…” Rose shook his head.

With the papers she had dangling in front of her, Rose ripped them in half, and she watched in horror.

“That ain’t my fucking signature. If you try to pull this shit again, your funeral will be the next mothafucka I attend. No remorse. I allowed you to run this place, but it ain’t shit to bring somebody else in here and do the same thing.”

“So the fact that this could be your baby I’m carrying doesn’t mean shit to you, right?”

“I’ll believe that shit when I see it. Until then, that could be anybody’s baby. Don’t be trying to pin that shit on me because I’m the best fucking candidate. If it’s mine, I got you. Anything else we need to talk about?” Rose was losing patience with this scenario.

He needed to see Minx. The day was turning to shit, and being around her fixed everything. When he thought about her, it made him feel soft and shit the way his heart went tender. Since they knew what it was like to have each other, he knew that there was no turning back.

Nadia’s heart felt like it was sliced to shreds. It was painfully clear that Rose didn’t give a fuck about her.

“Apparently not,” she answered.

“Don’t try my hand, Nadia,” Rose warned, heading for the door.

Nadia had to have something wrong with her.

There was loathing but still attraction as she watched him walk out of the office to the gym.

She wanted him to want her and care for her the way that he did Minx.

The kind of bond that they shared wasn’t duplicated.

Nadia could never have a window into what she stood against, but she was dying for even the slightest insight.
