Lucky Charm|Rockwell series #1
Chapter one
Dear Diary, it was September the twenty-seventh on Wednesday; when I decided to it was time for me to realize that I need to do anything about my lack of non-motivation to get outside of the house.
Once, and for all knowing that my parents were counting on me even my little sister looks up to me as inspiration great older sister and role model for my sister Lacey.
This means that I have to show that no matter what happens in life.
She must stay strong enough to overcome all of her obstacles, also the only reason why I wrote in my diary due to the fact that my therapist thought it would be helpful to write out all of my feelings instead of just keeping them bottled up in my mind until I explode one day.
"Jessasnym, come downstairs inside of the kitchen to at least have a healthy breakfast for University because the doctor recommends that a great-."
I interrupted my mum by shouting out loud. "I'm coming downstairs in a few seconds!"
I rushed down the stairs not wanting the neighbours to know about my health care because I was a twenty-one-year-old girl and it was so embarrassing for my mum to blurted out this information to me however, I love my mum to bits due to the fact she was always there for me whether it was an ice skating competitions, academics awards or just supporting me and my sister in anything that we did in life.
As I entered the kitchen to grab some pancakes that my Mom made this morning for the first day back at university whilst my little sister, as well as our puppy fluffies, runs up to me to pick them both up off the ground making me smile when my sister handed over a card to me that she made from scratch on a piece of paper as I read the card she gave me.
I could feel my eyes swells with happy tears as I laughed at how cute was before finishing off my breakfast and then giving both my mom and sister a huge hug soon leaving the house to drive myself to University.
Quickly, I weaved through the whole student body to find the principal office to have a short talk with him.
Afterwards, I went to the receptionist to get this year's academic schedule and then I made my way through the crowded halls to get out of the building to walk towards the University campus; since I only had a couple of books in a cardboard box to take upstairs to place them on my room desk when I knocked on the door to see if anyone else can help me to open up the door. A brunette-haired girl who had purple highlights in her hair opened the door for me with a friendly smile on her face and showed me where my bed was on the opposite side of hers.
"Hey, my name is Rochelle and you must be my new roommates, whose faces I have never seen you around campus before but I don't mind showing you the ropes here," said Rochelle.
I wasn't expecting my roommate to be this edgy yet there was this badass vibe about her as I can tell that from her attitude, her styles were so fashionable she might be so sure of herself like she would probably say everything that was on her mind without a filter and I have no doubt in my mind that the both of us would get along with each other because I could tell that she had been through something bad in her past but I don't judge a book by its cover.
I don't know the rest of the chapters since I only have walked into this chapter right now.
"Yes, I'm your new roommate Jessa and please fill me in on what is going on here?"I asked Rochelle interestingly enough to hear the information about the people in this uni.
So, this is what uni life looks like?
This year's plan for me was probably just to get settled down here and maybe make it bearable for me to live here by: making friends with other people, focusing on my studies, getting a part-time job and hiding my secret past life behind me Without everyone else finding out about. How I was miss national soloist figure skater three years ago! Because people were going to start asking more questions about my past bringing up my accident although, I was twenty-one-year-old woman who was determined to get a fresh start.
Therefore, I shook off all my negative thoughts as I was unpacking my suitcases until there were a few knocks on the door and then She walked the door to open up to be greeted by her friends who were very different personalities compared to her.
"So, I heard you finally got a new roommate of yours that we could add to our little addition to our group?" Asked the friendly red-haired girl called Avena.
All my roommate friends waved politely to me when they saw me sitting down on my bed as I waved back to them and I continued swiping away on my phone doing retail therapy shopping.
"Guys,Jessa is completely okay in comparison with my other roommate who I had last year though and Jessa wants to know the hot gossip right now."nicely explained by Rochelle.
They were all looking at each other before they started talking about how the boys hockey team was so important to their school especially when everyone else seemed to love watching the sport.
They also mentioned something about the teachers, the couples and the most sickliest parties nearby campus etc.
I listened to the hot tea, they're spilling into an entire conversation where the ginger haired girl, the brunette haired girl and blonde haired girl were talking to my roommate about going to this place, off campus to go to their favourite diner that served them (the variety of foods there with milkshakes).
Not going to lie, but I could totally kill for some fries and milkshakes right after, sorting out my stuff in order in my wardrobe.
It has really taken tiny bits of energy out of me whilst I think to myself that I was going to do whatever it takes to stay away from the ice rink to avoid bringing back all of those memories of my tragic fall.
During the Olympic finals as I simply just want to be known for more than my title or the girl who ruined her chances of winning on live national television because I swear that I have so much more to give in compared to the person who I used to be two years ago.
"Do you guys know if there are any decent restaurants or dinner here to stop by for lunch?"I asked, hearing my stomach rumbling despite the lack of food for having one pancake this morning.
My nerves wouldn't allow me to eat anything else without feeling slightly nauseated and worried about people finding out my real identity. Although, I shuts off all of my negative thoughts for just one day. So, I can start moving on with my life for once since my grandma always used to say 'don't let your fear get the better of you when in reality you're more than what you say you are.
'
I believed her enough to make myself feel happy again and I craved her freshly baked homemade brownies with hot chocolate like the one that she had made me whenever I felt sad.
"We are all going to skyliner diners which is the best place off campus to eat and you are going to come there with us" demanded Rochelle more than offered.
Happily, I agreed to see the infamous diner that my new friends were hyped about going there for lunch.
It might give me a chance to get to know each one of them especially when I didn't even know their names yet, but I have to only reveal the part of my life which doesn't have to include my old career as a professional ice skater.
Therefore, I wondered what if another opportunity for me to make a huge comeback to the lineup of the final round as a second chance to win the national championship game.
As I nodded my head and collected my purse along with my cell phone soon walked away from campus carpooling in Avena car driving on the road towards this special diner.
We arrived in the car park of the Templeton and stepped out of the car to enter the diner to take a seat in the booth whilst we were all reading the menu.
I began to think of which menu number to order from.
However, everyone else had already made up their minds about what they were going to eat as I couldn't choose from the options on the menu items until the cute waiter suggested that I should've.
"I suggest you should try this month special on the menu." I looked down at it before deciding on fries and milkshake instead of this month special eventually I placed my order waiting for the food to be delivered to our table.
"So, what are you all studying? except for Rochelle of course, because she has already told me that herself." I asked, intrigued to try to get to know everyone who was sitting there.
Rochelle gestures for all her friends to tell me about the course that they were all studying for at university for a while before our food was served to the table making the most of the time for a while.
Everyone else were talking about where were the best spots on campus was to be at when there were a couple breaks in between the lectures.
In addition to this, I took a couple of bites of my food when I realized that maybe continuing the year where I left off wasn't going to be such an bad thing despite being behind in my studies. It was much better than homeschooling and I felt like I could bond and connect with my peers.
"I studied forensic science to be a paramedic and biology to become a nurse," said a raven black-haired Natalia.
Quickly, I took a longer look around the diner with curious eyes glancing at the frost outside the window.
Nonetheless, I started I observed everyone's personality thinking how they compliment each other in a way because they were all so different from one another. It was interesting to see how close they were as friends and then I focus my attention back on a blonde hair-girl who was slightly more reserved yet open up a little to me. She Introduced herself to me. "Hey, my name is Charlie and I studied arts."said Charlie with a warm friendly smile.
Avena was the last one to introduce herself and tell me what degree she was studying.
"I studied music as well as variety of dance." Avena explained.
"because it felt like therapeutic writing lyrics in my notebook and so many musicians often expressed their feelings in music and dance." She added excitedly.
I felt like I could be myself here you know, and not been known as Jessa Burke (the twenty year old female figure skater).
who fail to bag herself a first place win in figuring skating competition during the olympic but to be fair, there was too much pressure to win.
Hence, why i was devastated at first when i have gotten an injury which would be taken time to heal for a couple of months but now.
Additionally, I was just trying to focus on finding my life purpose other than ice skating since every time i step on the ice.
I keep getting those horrible flashbacks that keep on resurfacing making me feel dizzy yet sick to my stomach.
Besides, I could get used to this life living like an ordinary twenty- twenty-something-year-old studying philosophy and practicing modern arts fitting in a crowd or group of people who weren't frenemies with each other fighting over the trophy.
Quite frankly, i did miss the feeling of skating on the ice rink when nobody else was watching swirling around; playing music that was on my playlist getting the feeling of belonging there for so many years even the thoughts of it makes me sighs in pity.
I would never fully recovered mentally as I can physically which this nostalgically feeling of not letting my fears defines who i was.
Also, i thought to myself that i would probably sneak on campus searching for the ice rink knowing that no hockey player will be out later.
Tonight or any nights until i saw Rochelle walking up to the door to introduce her boyfriend Tristan who she told me about that was one of the school midfield football player while her boyfriend came to sit next to her on the same table as us talking his academic schedules with Rochelle.
"I will you excuse me, I need to get some napkins," I said walking towards the counter of the bistro and accidentally bumping into someone or a tall brick wall. "ouch, what are you exactly made of? Metal or bricks?"I looked up to see the darkest blue eyes staring into my soul.
Six-foot-seven boy with blonde hair stood there right in front of me and chuckled.
"No, it's all pure muscle baby, pure muscle." He offered me a handshake and he continued to asked me. "Are you new here because I haven't seen a beautiful girl like you on campus before?" Really those same unoriginal lines talk about a walking cliche moment.
"What's your name?"
Slightly pushing my hair behind my ears and smiled.
"It's for me to know and you to find out." I walked and headed toward the table to collect my stuff moving toward the door, but I turned around to see his eyes were on me the whole time until I got into my roommate's car because she was my ride back to campus since I mostly burrow my mum's car.
What an eventful day with meeting new people and a six-foot-seven tall blonde-haired boy who has the deepest blue eyes that I have ever seen?
Once, we arrived back in our dorm room.
I opened the door then I ran straight to my bedroom and crashed my whole body onto my mattress falling fast asleep on it.
I was dreaming of the final figure skating competition that ended badly for me, but this time it was a critic judging my every motions.
I decided to get up out of bed and to make my mum special hot cocoa drink that helps me fall asleep in difficult times again.
