Chapter four
Jessamyn's pov
Our class professor kept on talking about how two different philosophers had discovered a rationalism theory about Philosophy that relies on reason as the primary source of knowledge.
It claims that does not come from the evidence of one's sense even though I always believe in the theory that everything happens for a reason maybe it was the universe trying to tell me something anyway, it was just over five minutes later when the class had ended and my phone had lit up with a text message from Asher asking me to meet up with him in one hour and a half saying that I got to choose any place we go to.
I responded to him with a decent and short reply: why? And what is the reason why we are meeting each other?
Asher: your place or mine place? Meet me in one hour tops.
Me: your place and I will send you the location to mine.
Meanwhile, I didn't wait for him to reply to this message on time I wanted to raise a few quick questions to a student who was studying to be a physician or physiotherapy doctor to tell me what the odds of going back to the national states championship to win which it was a good thing that I didn't raise my exception, then I have to borrow library books to save money instead of buying them online, next I have to go wait for the elevator since there was a very long queue I decided to take the stairs carrying a load of books in my carrier bag up the stairs before I can get ready in my room on campus to meet with Asher soon.
Another text message from him caused my phone to buzz in my coat pocket as my roommate Rochelle had just called me on my phone too.
Asher: So have you thought about my coach's proposition to you yet?
Me: tell me. One reason why I should consider helping you with your essay and accept your coach job offer too?
I picked up my phone and answered Rochelle's call hearing her walking around the crowded university hallway meeting up with her boyfriend Tristan were going to the cinema tonight which led me to have this campus housing room all to myself and I didn't want to do what I normally did all week was singing Taylor Swift song called The Archer or cook myself some dinner while I watched some Mystery crimes show and read books to keep my mind occupied away from thinking about my actual nightmare again.
"Tristan and I are going out tonight to the cinema. Would you like to go with us there?" Rochelle invited me to go to the cinema with both of them.
Third Wheeler was never part of my plan since I arrived at this school.
I spent most of my free time on the ice rink or being the third wheel whenever My roommate endeavoured with her boyfriend.
I sometimes tag alongside them even though they don't mind joining them going a few places. I think I have got most of the campus academic building floors covered.
For a beat, staring back at the bathroom mirrors trying to figure out which hairstyle I should wear my hair upon noticing my scalp scars that made all my insecurities start flaring up again after the accident fighting back a few tears in my eyes once putting my hair up in a black hair clip.
I've frowned at myself in the mirror silently listening to my positivity podcast episode for some self-reflection time today because I was more than a mess, especially since the first day after the accident there were so many random rumours about me attending rehab for drugs used even though I had used the correct dosage of medication the doctor prescribed me.
"No, because you two deserve to have a great time together without me third-wheeling it."I declined Rochelle's kind invitation to the cinema.
Afterwards, we hung up on the phone.
There were two doors knocked on my room door as Farah told me that there was someone there who was waiting outside the dorm room for me informing me about how some of the girls on campus had gotten a crush on Asher because I didn't want him to be outside in the cold for too long and then I felt a tad bit sorry for what he had to endure so I decided to save him from the nightmare situation that has become a massive group of girls adore him.
Thereafter, I started packing up my stationery items in my backpack and zipped it up, next I put my coat on before my backpack slowly moved out of my dorm room in a hurry also I finally reached outside of the housing building walking through the crowd of people who were standing there even if I didn't understand what all of this hype was only about him. Only one word to describe it fangirling on a player of the hockey team.
"Sorry for the delay in time but as you can see there were so many of my fangirls stopping me from going inside your housing room." he slightly apologized to me.
The crowd of girls had finally dispersed returning to their housing building or getting on with their lives only made me imagine how the size of his rather large ego had already increased by the time I got into his car as he drove us to his place as the song called Atlantis by a band Seafret was playing on his car radio station.
I kept on thinking about my chance to reach my Olympic goals had been buried six feet underground.
By now I was a university student who was trying to get her life together for the better.
My escape from reality has now become my living nightmare so I started swapping ice skating for reading books or mind-mapping my life as I was slowly breaking down inside of me knowing that my ex-boyfriend who I thought was loyal only came to visit me once in a while in the hospital and then the next day there was a rumour about him skating with my competition Jolene as if I was like chopped liver to him.
Betrayal and heartbreak after I had broken up with Ethan he started dating Jolene, my competition to win the final.
As it turns out he has started the rumors about me and my cousin Kirby was giving me advice as well as helping me get over Ethan by watching rom-com, pizza night and a movie night all into one.
"I see you are still as arrogant and cocky as ever," I muttered under my breath but I think he might have heard me.
When we reached his apartment off campus getting out of his parked car walked towards his front door and waited for him to open it for me to enter when he did we went straight into his home while someone on his hockey team, I think it was Wyatt who stopped walking upstairs to his room with a cold slice of pizza about to go in his mouth were looking at the two of us talking about how you can't always judge a book by it covers or read other people easily too.
"You know you can't always judge a book by its covers because sooner or later it may surprise you." he says "Let's make a deal that In a month I will get you to know the real me."
One of his housemates who has dark brown short curly hair called Wyatt was watching both of us talk to each other with a look of interest in his maroon brown eyes and I remember when Charlie mentioned his name once or twice to me filling me up on the hot tea on campus along with some house party invited to the hockey team house because they had thrown the best possible parties of the year.
Later on, our conversation seemed to continue as well as I explained that he needed to do a test first which was similar to the mark scheme of our exam and I made him do a practice paper including timing him whilst I was reading a romance book on my phone scrolling through the pages as I finished reading them.
"Why not in ten days? Or are you afraid that your charm might not work on me?"I glimpse at him. "However, I agree to do this deal with you," I said to him.
My timer for him to complete my practice paper went off as he handed it over to me waiting for me to read it, he sat there patiently on his kitchen table silently marking it during being impressed by his work at least he knew what he was talking about but he needs to expand on his Peel paragraph explaining more context and links some of the stuff we have learned to his statements.
I handed it over to him making sure that he could go over it to see where he went awry in this past paper to test his ability in the test, Afterwards, we kept on talking until it was nine thirty-four pm in the night and sky looked a lot more gloomy tonight than it did Last night.
"Look who is sounding so arrogant now!" he quipped to me.
I laughed while shaking my head at him when he walked me out of his house and offered to drive me to campus which was an offer that I couldn't refuse since it was so cold at night that I could barely feel my fingers. We got inside his car and he drove me back to the university campus near my housing building St. Claire parking on the side of the road already missing his car heating being blasted through the air conditioner although, I didn't reply to his remark about me because I kept on walking towards my housing building where I lived with my roommate.
Quickly ran out of my money and I decided that it would be better to get a job around to prevent me from spending everything that was in my savings account.
This university solely focuses on one sport here that was hockey even though there were football, swimming, basketball and tennis too.
I thought to myself that I should at least apply for jobs if the worst came to worst then I would have to accept working with the hockey team to help them improve their skills since anything was better than being back on the ice again.
