Chapter Thirty
Back in class today on a Monday morning in the classroom typing away on my laptop even though I should probably go on invest my money on a iPad especially when it was just getting so heavy to carry around a laptop every twenty four seven hours having it in my backpack our professor went through all of the slides that we were on the board very quickly so I had only written down the keywords that were needed for the assignment until one student raised their hands up to ask our professor if this would actually all apply to the assignment of our course which she had replied with a no answer but then told us to write a two page essay now,
In my mind I had already known how I was going to spend my free period doing my essay which was my assignment about how philosophy basically changes society and the basics of laws allowing a systematic study in practice.
To be honest, this world evolved immersively over the years but unfortunately not a lot of things have changed.
For example, racial discrimination and gender diversity was not in every single company or job career too.
"What are you thinking about Jessamyn?"he asked me in bewilderment as he helped me hold my backpack around.
Hereafter, I snapped out of my thoughts to look over at him focusing my full attention on him as we walked out of the classroom and into the noisy corridor my phone vibrated making me want to look at the cause of it which was a little alert from figure skating coach that she would rather talk to me in person than over the phone about her announcement she messaged me: Jessamyn, I have some excited news for you and it can't wait or be talked over the phone with you too.
As it was a quick thought of celebrating my exciting news was when I started debating between partying or studying for my degree as it was not easy to be ahead of my classes but all my life work of figure skating have paid off and I turned around to smile at him letting him read my news text from my phone in regards to my essay it was due in a month and two days.
I decided to go with the celebration option while watching him read the news out loud made me feel happier because it wouldn't have been possible without him and the support of friends or family.
"You, Jessamyn Burke, have been chosen by the Olympic talent recruiter to take part in the next year's Olympics game in Tokyo."he read every word as he continued to grin and shouted out loudly "everyone you won't believe it but guess what?"
He then hugged and kissed me on the lips before he handed over my phone back to me.
He kept on saying how much he knew that I was so beautifully talented in anything that I did while everyone else around looked at us like we were crazy in regardless of what everyone else thinks he continued on saying how amazingly perfect I was as well as how proud he truly was of me because he always knew that I could do everything i put my heart or mind into it.
All of our friends were looking at us, not sure why we were smiling like a bunch of idiots since they were all waiting patiently to hear about my extremely good news.
I think to myself where was the campus journalism club when I needed them to print off something as awesome as being a qualifier for the Olympic team nonetheless, i didn't want to jinx myself by repeating boasting about it too often to everyone else which meant that I only needed to tell my family, friends and myself that it was finally happening to me.
"What happened?"asked Mason wryly.
Rochelle looked at me for a split second until her smile began to show itself along with Natalia, Grayson, Holden, Avena, Charlie and Wyatt's eyes observing us quietly, still not able to get the hint at all while everyone else was congratulating me for getting a spot in the Olympics. I showed Wyatt my phone to read the email and text messages until I needed to put a reminder to call my mom later.
"Ohh, nothing happened except for me being invited to participate in next year's summer Olympic qualifiers round!"I exclaimed in excitement to Mason.
We all went to Roch's and mine accommodation on campus as the boys were waiting in the kitchen whereas we were getting dressed up in our best clothes to celebrate my important news as I showed the girls my two different outfit choice of tonight one was dark green maxi dress and the other was all back outfit which consists of a pair of converse, leather trousers, a black midriff top and Asher leather jacket.they chosen my dark green maxi dress with matching heels but if my feet were killing me then i would get him to carry me on his shoulders for the rest of the night.
Once we got dressed and ready to go, the boys started complimenting us and then Wyatt began to get why we were all going to celebrate. "Congratulations by the way and when you become famous don't forget me." Said Wyatt.
Soon after my phone rang while we were in the car driving to the Crawley nightclub that was only a few miles away from the hockey house to celebrate my achievement especially when my mom was Hawaiian and my dad was a Canadian so which means both of my parents were pretty laid back even though they were not married anymore I still love them except wanted my parents to get back to together although I have felt they would solve their problems soon.
Moreover, I noticed that Avena started singing can't do better by Kim Petras with a hairbrush in her as I joined in along with Natalia and Rochelle dancing around the kitchen floor like we were Little Mix or any other girls band until the music finished off and then we went outside to wait for the boys to start the car.
"As long as you boys promise to never forget us in the big league hockey tournament."I told Wyatt, giving a side hug.
Every one of us has gotten into a car ride to the Crawley nightclub to celebrate our achievement as we arrive there at five-thirty pm in the evening getting out of the car heading towards the entrance of the nightclub seeing the first place open up so we can get the best seat in the room as our whole table said what drinks they would like to have to send Holden to the bar to get our drinks but Natalia take his card off of him to go pay for the drinks since Asher went to the toilet in the meantime my friends and I started asking Holden questions about what he thinks about our beautiful and amazing so down to earth friend Natalia hoping that we could get some answers to set them up already.
Our friend was talking to the bartender while we were asking Holden questions as Asher walked through a crowd of people to get to our table and put his arms around me, including listening to the conversation we were having just now.
At one point I could easily hear my friend of mine laughing at some joke which has gotten a certain mixed light skin boy that was a friend's head almost immediately turned around to the sound of the noise, his hands clenching and unclenching. I was sitting there drinking my first drink waiting for Natiala to come back whereas both Wyatt and Rochelle thought this would make some good tea to hold on to or spill and soon she walked back to the table with the drinks on a tray in her as Holden had tried to assist her.
"What took you so long or were you too busy casually flirting with the bartender?"asked an impatient Holden.
Quite frankly, I was sincerely trying my best not to smack Holden upside the head as the rest of them were shaking their heads all knowing that he shouldn't have said to her however, I just wanted one simple night out with my friends without any arguments, fighting or drama. She sat down ignoring him and then I turned around in her seat to face him.
Therefore, none of us can foreshadow what she was going to say next and was it a crime for just want to make one day to celebrate my accomplishment when Mason started giving him a couple of words of advice and instantly disagreed with literally everything that he was saying as she rolled her eyes at him.
"Erm, I'm sorry but not sorry. You're not my father or brother so I don't have to explain myself to you and jealousy isn't a great color on you!" Natalia said furiously to Holden.
All of the hockey boys gave their teammate a lot of advice and to think that she could barely tolerate him but currently he was being so annoyingly arrogant towards her.
For instance, calling her salty and not seeing where he went wrong as I started to text my mom on my phone hoping that she could raise my spirit or morale up with her positive words too.
Meanwhile, I sent my mum a text message thanking her also I put my phone in my bag as I began to take a sip of my drink while holding looking up at my boyfriend Asher silently asking him to apprise them or helps because I didn't want to upset anyone else feeling like all of my kindness was started to become my weakness right now.
"Seriously, Can you be any more of an idiot Holden?" chimed Avena, annoyed.
"If I wanted to go watch a movie or a play. I would go to the cinema for all the drama and not be here right now."said Tristan.
"I honestly don't love the drama but it does seem to love me,"said Holden.
Wyatt, Avena, Charlie and I all seem to be looking at each other especially when he quoted the lyrics from one of Taylor swift songs nearly has sung along to the song's reputation trying to be mad at him even though it was very difficult Natiala even suppress her smile and then it vanishes as soon as he had chosen to say something again. Rochelle showed us some of the best lyrics she has written by herself for her homework assignment while Avena and Wyatt went to go dance on the dance floor, Grayson was messaging someone, and Natalia looked so done with the conversation alongside the rest of us who sat there trying to sort it out.
"I used to tolerate you but right now I can't because I'm allergic to your bs and unequally unintelligent people only resort to using those words," said Natalia.
Slowly I smiled a grateful smile at my boyfriend who was telling them to stop arguing since we didn't come here to hear them argue. Instead we came here to have a great time regardless of who started it and We were very much all friends that would always be there for each other no matter what. The song reckless lover by Handsome Ghost began to play and then Eden by Hozier came on the music speaker but it gets me thinking, what if Hoizer and Taylor swift worked on a song together? I would listen to anything that she sings.
Momentarily, some of our friends get a couple of drinks to cheer for the ten of us raising their glasses to ourselves towards the up and down of our lives in University. We somehow managed to make it throughout the beginning to the middle of the year without losing ourselves.
"Guys, please take my girlfriend Jessasmyn, the celebrated queen, into consideration and stop arguing for today alright." He demanded them.
Everyone has stopped bickering which means that they were all quiet after that Asher my boyfriend and I went to go to joined our other friends who were already dancing on the middle of the dancefloor thankful we didn't get the nosebleed section the area of where people were going in and out of the toilet. Other than that we took some pictures on our phones to have this moment savored forever.
