Chapter Nineteen
Serenity
We spent a week on our side of the palace without anyone bugging us. They must have been counting down a week’s time to give us a bit of a honeymoon. This became obvious when, on our eighth day of being left alone, we were suddenly requested to attend family dinner.
We spend time actually getting ready before making our way to the family common area. After spending the week without often wearing clothes, it felt strange to be dressing up again.
Everyone but Lorenzo is already seated.
I notice a red chair appear beside his chair which brings a smile to my face. Let’s face it, there is too much male energy around here. I need some women.
“Lorenzo already left to get my new daughter. I’m not sure how he’s going to go about it, but I have a feeling he won’t wait long,” Lucifer says once we sit down.
“How was the honeymoon, guys?” Gareth asks with a smirk.
I grab a roll from the table and throw it at him.
“None of your business or I might just let a secret drop,” I tease.
He narrows his eyes at me.
“I don’t like that you know that,” he replies.
I can’t help but laugh.
“Really? Because I love that I know that,” I brag.
I can’t wait until his bride gets to know him and finds out his secret.
We are all chatting and eating. Everyone is catching us up on everything we had missed during the week. Once this is all over, I hope we can take a honeymoon up top, but it’s too dangerous right now.
Having a fallen angel who you had thought was your friend, and who you thought had died, trying to destroy your entire family is pretty fucking crazy. I just hope that when the time comes, we will be able to fight him.
We all turn our heads when we see a portal open, and Lorenzo walks right through with a look of annoyance on his face. He’s carrying someone over his shoulder.
Fuck no, he didn’t.
“Let me down, you big oaf!” the woman screams while kicking her legs.
“Please tell me you didn’t just kidnap your bride,” I ask, pleading with my brother.
He simply raises an eyebrow at me like I should know the answer already.
She stills when she hears my voice. Lorenzo puts her down slowly, but she doesn’t turn around.
“Where am I? How did we get here?” she asks, sounding terrified.
“You are in my home in Hell, and I created a portal to get us here,” Lorenzo says simply.
Dude is not smooth at all. I shake my head.
“It’s kind of sad to think that I preferred you stalking me in comparison to throwing me over your shoulder and kidnapping me,” I whisper loudly to Silas who chuckles at my words.
“I don’t know how I raised sons who don’t know how to talk to women,” Lucifer says, shaking his head sadly.
At Lucifer’s voice, Lucille turns around and looks at him with wide eyes.
“You,” she whispers. She then looks at each person in the room and, when she gets to me, I can’t help but wince and give her an apologetic look.
“Both of you. What’s going on? Lui?” she asks, turning back to Lucifer.
“Please sit down, I will explain,” Lucifer says, gesturing to the seat with her name on it.
She sits down and ignores everyone else, keeping her eyes on Lucifer and waiting for him to explain.
“I’m Lucifer,” he says.
“Lucifer… as in?” she whispers.
Lucifer nods his head.
“Yes, the very one. I have seven sons who are the seven deadly sins. My bride Lillith and I had chosen seven souls that would match our sons, and you are one of them. You are destined to be with Wrath. I kept an eye on you because you are vulnerable right now. Someone is finding my daughters and attacking them.”
“You are saying that I’m the bride to Wrath, a deadly sin?” she whispers.
Lucifer nods his head slowly.
“Yes.”
At his response, her eyes roll back and she faints.
I let out a sigh.
“Why did you kidnap her?”
“There were demons all over her workplace. They were waiting for a moment to strike. As soon as I got her alone, I grabbed her and brought her here,” Lorenzo says.
I guess that makes sense. They attacked me before I got here, but Furcas seemed to go after her faster than he did me.
This brings a whole new wave of worry over the family.
After the bonding ceremonies, we can’t leave the next bride alone for too long.
I need to help in any way I can. The adjustment to being fated to a sin isn’t any easy one, and it’s also very hard to believe. For awhile, a part of you expects to wake up and have it all be some sort of weird dream.
I couldn’t be happier than I am now, but I was very frightened in the beginning. I have to help the women cope with everything and come to terms with it. I know there might be one or two who won’t be easy to win over.
I know that being a bride of sin isn’t easy.
Silas
I watch as my bride gets a look of determination on her face. I know she’s going to do everything she can to help each bride as they come.
Part of me hates that she was first because there were times when she felt alone, but someone needed to go first and I have a feeling it was for a reason.
None of us will know why Lilith did things the way she did until we find her and bring her home.
She will have to answer a lot of questions.
I know that Furcas won’t easily go away. For him to have hid himself for centuries, he would have to have a lot of power or be getting it from somewhere.
As much as I want to stay in the family room and watch as Lorenzo’s bride freaks out, I need to check on the Succubus and Incubus that are loyal to me and make sure no more beings are missing.
Each deadly sin has their loyal followers and those ones are mine, given that I am Lust.
I kiss my bride before I leave, already hating every second I’m not by her side.
My dad surprising us by finding us a partner to be with for eternity was the best thing that had ever happened to me.
I longed for someone of my own who wouldn’t be corrupted by my power and whose feelings I knew were true. Now that I finally have it, I no longer feel alone.
The bride of lust had changed my whole existence.
I no longer was my sin; I was hers.
