Chapter 29
LYK
His mate was beneath him in his bed. He knew she was exhausted, but with that needy light in her eyes, he knew he couldn’t leave her unsatisfied.
Her hands were clutching his shoulders by the end of his kiss, her little nails digging into his flesh. Lyk loved the feel of her claws in him. She was so passionate, so hot, that he knew it would take the rest of eternity to get his fill of his lusty mate.
She was squirming against him, her skin still slippery from the shower. Lyk could tell that she was trying to get him to enter her, and it turned him on that she wanted him badly enough to take control. Which gave him an idea.
Lyk rolled them over, positioning Ally atop him. “You’re going to ride me and take the pleasure you crave,” he said, his voice husky. Grasping her hips, he moved her so that she could feel his hardness probing her.
Her eyes locked on his, Ally started to slide down his shaft. She managed to get the tip in, then paused, eyes slipping shut and a rapturous look on her face.
Fuck. I could come just from looking at her.
When she’d adjusted to his size, she began to move again, and Lyk knew he was lost. It would take every ounce of his strength to keep from orgasming until she did.
The memory of her writhing as he rubbed her clit in the shower already had his cock hard and aching.
Now that she was about to ride him home to glory, Lyk was afraid this time he’d be the one to lose consciousness.
It seemed to take forever, but she finally took him to the hilt, and her low moan made him break out in goosebumps. His hands on her ass, he pressed up from beneath her.
“Oh no you don’t.” She giggled throatily. “This time, I’m in control.”
She tortured him with her languid movements, taking him so deep he had to grit his teeth to stop himself from cursing. Lyk let her tease him, let her grind against him while grinning at him as if to say, “The tables have turned. You’re now at my mercy.”
I’ve been at your mercy since you threw a drink in my face, little girl, he wanted to say. You’re the only woman in the universe who makes me feel this way, and you own me. No doubt about it.
Her rhythm faltered, and he could tell that she was starting to have trouble maintaining her own cool. Lyk saw his opportunity and seized it, his need to make her climax causing his restraint to break.
Lyk pulled her down so that she was pressed close against him.
Seizing her lips, he bucked up from below, fucking her deep and making her gasp against his mouth.
From this angle, he could feel her sensitive nub pressed against him.
Her cries grew louder as he held her in place and thrust over and over into her wild wetness.
“Lyk!” she screamed, then leaned in and bit his shoulder.
Fuck, this woman drives me crazy.
“Tell me what you need,” he growled against her neck. “Tell me what you need, and I’ll give it to you.”
“Please!” she begged, but it wasn’t enough.
He needed to hear her say it. “Please what? What do you want, little girl? Tell me!”
“Please make me come!” she cried, her voice breaking, her words like pure electricity, jolting his system.
“Whatever you need,” he crooned, then picked up the pace, driving into her until he felt her inner muscles contract and release a gush of moisture.
He watched her as she climaxed. It was the most beautiful sight he’d ever seen. Making love to Allandria was akin to a religious experience to Lyk, and no one and nothing would ever make him let her go.
Lyk kept her pressed to his chest, and before long, her breaths evened out. She’s sleeping, he realized with a sense of wonder.
They’d been through so much together, there hadn’t really been a moment of real intimacy between them. Sure, they’d made passionate love but never during a quiet moment when they weren’t going from one emergency to another.
To have the luxury of her sleeping against his chest, naked, in his own bed was a blessing of inordinate magnitude. He would fight wars for this moment. He would crawl through miles of broken glass for this moment.
He would eradicate every demon from the face of Hell for this moment.
He stroked her back, tangled his fingers in her curls, and bathed in her soft breath.
Never in his life had he felt this contentment.
Calling out, he used voice command to cut off the lights and drench them in darkness.
It wasn’t long until he joined her in an exhausted sleep, a smile of satisfaction on his face.
Lyk wasn’t sure how long he’d been asleep when he woke suddenly, eyes wide in the dark. He hadn’t slept at home in so long, he was immediately disoriented. I’m not on my ship. And I’m not alone.
His awareness flooded into him. Ally still dozed against his chest, undisturbed. Wondering what had woken him up, he scanned the darkness, the layout of his room returning slowly to his mind.
Then he heard it. It was faint, so faint he would have missed it if it weren’t so quiet in his room. It was a quiet squeak, and he got the impression it was something that was rotating because of its rhythmic quality.
But what on Vartik could be squeaking in his bedroom? He’d not been here for ages, and there was nothing running currently that could make the sound he was hearing. As gently as he could, he moved Ally to his side so he could sit up.
That was when he spotted them. Two red lights were moving through the darkness.
“Lights on!” he shouted, throwing himself out of bed and rushing toward the intruder before the lights illuminated. He’d almost reached it when the room filled with brightness, making him blink.
For a split second, Lyk couldn’t figure out what he was looking at. It was a figure of some kind, but small, maybe toddler sized. And it was covered in reddish fur. The top hat and monocle threw him, as did the small pair of skates the thing was wearing.
It rolled suddenly forward, and Lyk realized the sound was coming from one of the creature’s skates. “Stay where you are,” he shouted, holding a finger out to the creature.
Ally shot up in bed, scrambling to wrap a fur around her body. “Who are you talking too?” she asked, fear lacing her voice.
“I… I don’t know.” It wasn’t an organic creature, he determined. It looked like some kind of toy come to life.
“My name is Ladee,” it said suddenly, and Lyk started at its cultured, moderated voice. “And I believe I’m lost.”
“I’ll say,” Lyk said, grumbling. Assuming the toy creature wasn’t dangerous, Lyk took a minute to pull on a robe, then tossed an oversized shirt to Ally. “How did you get in here?”
“I’m afraid that’s a rather complicated story,” the creature said. “I’m looking for Dr. Dawn Illya. Could you please direct me to her lab?”
“Dr. Dawn Illya,” Lyk murmured. “You must mean Zelup’s wife.”
“Ah, so she married him? I suppose that’s to be expected.”
Lyk shook his head, feeling absurd talking to a stuffed animal on roller skates. He approached the console mounted on the wall and hit the communications channel, connecting to Zelup’s quarters.
There was no answer, so Lyk tried Nojan. His nerd brother was always in his lab, so he was the most likely brother to catch in a certain place. Maybe he knew something about this well-dressed interloper.
Nojan appeared on the viewscreen, his face confused. “Shouldn’t you be sleeping? I heard from Mother that you and father had a nice little chat. Or should I say your mate gave him a nice little chewing out?”
Lyk rolled his eyes as his brother chuckled. “I’ve got a visitor here that’s looking for Zelup’s wife. Do you know where to find her?”
“A visitor? In your quarters? For Dawn?”
“That’s what I said,” Lyk said, losing patience. “Where can I find her?”
“In her lab. Zelup gave her a large portion of the South Wing, second floor. Can I see this visitor?”
Lyk shrugged and motioned to the creature. “Ladee, if you please? My brother would like to get a look at you.”
The stuffed animal on wheels rolled forward, coming into view for Nojan. His brother’s jaw dropped. “Ladee? That’s Ladee? Oh, man! Dawn is going to freak the fuck out!”
Lyk’s brow furrowed. “I’m clearly not in the loop, but since I want to help this little guy on his way so I can go back to hibernating, I’ll show him to Dawn. Second floor, South Wing?”
Nojan nodded, his mouth still hanging open. “Ask him how he got here.”
“He says it’s complicated,” Lyk said. “Look, you can question him yourself, but I’m getting him the fuck out of my quarters until I’ve gotten more sleep.” Cutting the connection, Lyk turned to Ally.
“I’m going to take him to Dawn’s lab. I’ll be right back.”
“Oh no,” she said, scrambling off the bed again. “You’re not leaving me alone here. You go somewhere, I go with you.”
He looked her up and down. “I think you look phenomenal in my old shirt, but will you feel comfortable walking around the palace in it?”
Ally blushed. “What else am I supposed to wear? You burned my coveralls!”
Lyk laughed. “Even my shirt looks better than they did.”
Ally hit him playfully on the arm. “This is serious.”
“So it is.” He went to his wardrobe and pulled out a serviceable outfit in black for himself. He removed his robe and handed it to her. “Wrap that around yourself. It will serve for now.”
He tried to restrain his smile as he heard Ally grumbling. Once they were both dressed, it was time to show Ladee to his destination. They started out into the corridor, the little creature rolling behind them as they walked.
When they passed a couple attendants, Lyk growled at them when they leered openly at his mate. I’ve got to get her some clothing, and soon.
That thought was reinforced when they passed a large group of school children who were on a public tour of the royal palace. Ally’s cheeks heated as Lyk tried to block her with his body. That didn’t stop the waves of laughter that chased them down the hallway.
