29| The Life Mac
I t’s been almost three months since I found her. Every day since losing Ray has been a struggle, but we keep moving forward together. When Phoenix had to go home, we returned with her and closed up all of Sharlene Hicks’ accounts. When we left Texas, we left behind Sharlene, and when we arrived in New York, she was Cindy Walker again.
She wanted independence and didn’t want to move into my room at the clubhouse, so we moved her into the studio above the White Wolfe Lounge, where she now manages. She’s doing what she loves, but now she’s her own boss.
Phoenix visited twice, saying she wanted to move here soon and couldn’t see herself living in Texas without Sin.
Steve visits all the time now. I think they both feel like they’re the only family each other has, so they kind of cling to that. Dexter is still a missing person, and I know until Steve actually finds a body, he’ll keep looking.
Viktoriya still hasn’t resurfaced, but we’re both on the lookout, watching our backs. I know sooner or later, she’ll come for us. We took out a huge part of their ring that day, seizing several buyers and saving fifteen girls.
No one even asked about Peshkov, and his whereabouts are still unknown. Steve held true to his word, and none of that came back on us. That same day, we seized guns and drugs from the bust at Lenny’s. I’m sure we’re going to hear from Luc’s uncle Frank soon regarding that.
Overall, these past few months have been quiet.
The more I get to know my girl, the more I fall in love. She’s starting to blossom in this new life of ours. She truly is my girl with two faces. I have had a couple of dreams where my sister visited and Ray’s with her. They look happy, so my once-haunting dreams are now peaceful. I need to keep my promise to Ray and protect and love her sister with all my heart.
After calling her Dee during sex, it just stuck. I like that no one besides Ray has called her that. It warms my heart that she’s Cindy or Sin to everyone but to Raydene and me—she’ll always be our Dee.
Today, we’re celebrating Quick and Ruby. They ran off to the courthouse this morning to tie the knot.
Sin moves her hands down, cupping my cock as we ride toward the clubhouse. We mostly stay at her place. Every once in a while, we stay in my room at the clubhouse, but we never stay apart.
Placing my hand over hers, I rub her hands up and down my length.
She giggles against my back.
Sin found her place within my clubhouse and in the hearts of the Spin It girls. I’m not saying she has or ever will replace Raydene, but she’s an added part to a little crazy group.
Maze and Sin have become really close. Maze has been practicing her skills to become a mixologist. Everyone fell in love with her at the lounge, so when Shy and I decided to make her the manager, everyone was overly excited.
Pulling up to the clubhouse, the parking lot is packed. When word got out that they were tying the knot, several club members from different chapters came to support them.
Quick’s family flew in yesterday to be here for the ceremony, along with Luc and his crew.
I park in my vice president’s parking spot next to Shy’s bike. Sin jumps off and is pulling off her helmet when the door to the clubhouse swings open.
“Bout time your ass is here,” Violet yells, holding the door open.
“I’ve whooped her ass on the pool table twice now,” Phoenix shouts from behind her.
Sin’s face lights up. I chuckle. “Surprise!”
The girls squeal, and I can’t help but laugh at these women. Complete badass bitches get all-girlie when they see each other.
After one of her nightmares, I finally asked Sin if it was about Peshkov and what she did to him or him to her. She told me no, that her dreams were mostly of losing her sister. That’s when I got her to open up about how she felt about killing Peshkov, and her response was, “I’d do it again.”
That was the last we spoke of Peshkov or her brutally killing a man.
Sin rushes back over to me and gives me a big kiss. “Thank you, Big Mac,” she says with a wink.
Since I decided to use her sister’s nickname, she used mine. It’s kind of a way for us to keep our sisters alive.
When I walked through the doors, I heard a little girl scream my name, “MacMac!”
I look around and find Bella, Ruby’s little girl, rushing toward me with her baby doll in her arms. I grab her and throw her in the air when she’s close enough. “How’s my special girl?” I say, tickling her once I catch her.
She giggles her adorable little girl giggle.
She won my heart the instant she came into my life. It makes me want a little rugrat of my own…someday.
I glance over to see Sin watching me.
Quick walks up, grinning ear to ear, looking as happy as ever, and says, “Baby girl, are you bothering Uncle Mac?”
I tickle her again, saying, “She could never bother me.”
Bella giggles. “Ya Quak, MacMac lubs me.”
I tickle her again. “Yes, I do love you, my Bella girl.”
I clasp hands with Quick, bringing him in for a man hug. “Congratulations, brother.”
“Thank you. I’m the luckiest man alive,” Quick says, beaming with pride.
I see Ruby with her auntie Giselle, who still to this day shocks me how much she looks like my auntie Fay, who died in the crash with my sister. We first met Giselle when we were in LA, moving Ruby here.
“Mac, is my Bella bug buggin’ you?” Ruby teases, tickling her daughter in my arms.
“Firecracker, you look beautiful as ever,” I say, giving her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Ruby is radiating today.
Giselle stands behind Ruby, and I greet her as well, giving her a hug and a kiss.
“Mama, I want to go play,” Bella says to Ruby.
I guess the excitement of Uncle MacMac is over. So before I let her down, I ask for a kiss on the cheek.
Glancing over, I see Maze already has my girl behind the bar making some kind of drink.
Ruby and Quick stand next to each other with an arm around each other. I ask them how the ceremony went. Giselle stands next to Ruby as they tell me all about the cheesy courthouse minister.
Wolfe walks up with two drinks, handing one to Giselle.
Well, lookie here. I smile big at my uncle.
Wolfe gives me the ‘don’t fuck with me’ look, and I chuckle.
Maze jumps up on the bar and starts to whistle, getting everyone’s attention.
Maze shouts, “Can I have the newlyweds come up here, please? Everyone else gather around and make sure you have a full drink because we got some speeches and announcements to make.”
I make my way over to Sin, who’s at the end of the bar. I place my hand around her waist, kissing her temple.
Phoenix and Cash move up next to us. They seem to have hit it off. Whenever she’s in town, he magically shows up.
Quick sets Ruby on the bar and jumps up, helping her the rest of the way, so both stand on top of the bar. Maze hands them both a glass of champagne.
Quick begins talking, “When this feisty little marshmallow came into my life, I wasn’t prepared for what came next. I heard about it, I’ve seen my brothers have it and my parents have it, but until I met Firecracker, I never knew true love. She swept me off my feet, and I haven’t looked back since. Thank you, everyone, for coming today. Everyone keeps asking why the hurry. Well, we didn’t want to wait any longer, and neither of us wanted a big wedding, so we said fuck it. Let’s get married.”
Everyone calls out with excitement.
Quick continues, “Every single one of you has a place in our hearts, and we wanted to celebrate this big day with you. So, raise your glass in honor of love.”
Everyone lifts their drinks, cheering to love and the newlyweds.
The newlyweds have a drink and kiss afterward, which gets them more catcalls.
When they finish kissing, Ruby’s flush in the face.
Ruby lifts her glass. “And…” She pauses, waiting until everyone quiets down. “And…to all those that thought we rushed having a shotgun wedding, well, you’re wrong.” She looks up at Quick, who is grinning from ear to ear. “And…you were right.”
The place goes quiet, and Giselle shouts, “You’re fucking pregnant!”
Quick lifts his champagne glass. “ Fuck yeah. I’m gonna be a dad!”
Holy shit!
The girls scream, and the boys cheer.
Cash hits Tiny, who is standing next to Maze. “Fifty bucks, motherfucker.”
I laugh, watching the newlyweds get down, letting everyone congratulate them.
Phoenix turns to Cash. “Have you ever been married or have kids?”
Cash chokes on his drink. Pounding his chest, he gasps, “Fuck no.”
Phoenix raises a brow. “Like never want to or just hasn’t happened?
Cash, still coughing, rubs his chest. We’ve all asked him before, and he says the same thing. “One got away and never thought about it again. Just living life day by day.”
“So, you don’t want to get married or have kids?” Phoenix pushes.
Sin nudges her and teases, “Leave poor Cash alone. You’re scaring him.”
Cash shrugs. “I haven’t had someone hold my interest long enough to think about it. Like I said, one did, but she’s gone. Hasn’t happened since.”
Phoenix smiles, letting it go.
Helping my uncle out by chiming in, “Cash is like a gypsy. He goes where his bike takes him. He hasn’t found a woman who can handle him.”
When I see my uncle Wolfe get up on top of the bar, everyone quiets down.
“All right! Congratulations, Quick and Firecracker! Our family is growing, and I couldn’t be happier. With that said—”
Snow shouts out, interrupting him, “You better not be having no fucking kid or getting married!”
The crowd laughs, and my uncle huffs, “Fuck no! Princess, I can only handle you. You give me enough gray hair…” He pauses, letting everyone laugh. “Okay, like I said, I wanted to make an announcement. With so much going on in all our clubs, our founding four have decided to go national. We’re going to make the West Virginia chapter our national headquarters, with three new chapters opening. With so much traveling for Cash, Blink, and me, I’d like to announce Bear as our new president of the West Virginia chapter, along with Hawk as our vice president. Snoopy will be taking over his dad’s secretary/treasurer position.” Everyone starts hooting and hollering. I see Hawk ruffle his son’s head.
“He’s young,” Sin whispers to me.
I smile.
“Yeah. Snoopy, who turned eighteen a short time ago, is Hawk and Lish’s son, and he’s our youngest officer. He’s a tech guru like his father but probably as good as Dallas.”
Sin claps along with everyone else.
Wolfe whistles, silencing the group again. “And we’re becoming incorporated so we can join in business adventures that will help us expand the club…” He pauses, lifting his beer. “To new beginnings with Luc Mancini,” then he points to Quick and his godfather. “Reeves Corporation,” then he motions to Chiv and Blink. “And the Vin Brothers…” He pauses, looking down where Giselle stands before continuing, “And to the beautiful Giselle.”
The place erupts in celebration.
Wolfe laughs. “Now, let’s party!’
Finally, it feels good to be happy.
Sin grins. “There are so many new things to celebrate.”
I grab her chin, lifting her eyes to mine. “There is, indeed, like you and me and our new beginning.”
Sin lifts up onto her tippy toes and wraps her arms around my neck. She smiles. “To us.”
