Chapter Twenty-Nine

It’s been four days since Evan was taken to jail. Four days of wondering what is going to happen next.

Money buys freedom, and Evan has a lot of it. I only hope that it’s no good all the way across the country.

I look up to watch Tanner and Emily play on the play set Tank and Gunner installed yesterday behind Mac’s house. Tank is chasing them around.

The man is spoiling them, but I can’t even be upset about it. They deserve it after the hell we have been through. I only hope the hell is really over.

Hearing a couple of bikes, I smile. I wait until Mac comes around the house before I am out of my chair and in his arms.

“I missed you too.” He chuckles.

I don’t say a word. I only hold him tighter.

“Mac! Come play with us,” Emily yells out.

Tanner runs over to grab his hand. I love that they love him. Living with him has made their bond grow deeper. He really is their father now.

“I can’t right now. I’m going to take your mom for a ride. Can you watch the house for me?”

I thought he was talking to one of his brothers, but he is looking at Tanner.

“Yes, sir. Nothing will happen on my watch,” Tanner tells him.

Mac ruffles his hair. “Smoke and Tank will be here too. Don’t give them too much trouble. That means you, Emily. Not all men want their nails painted.”

She pouts, but nods.

“You are so letting her paint your nails later,” I tell him.

He laughs. “Anything for our little queen.”

I let him lead me to his bike. When I get there, he hands me a jacket, but it’s not the leather jacket that he wears. This one is female. It is made in a way to fit my body perfectly. I eye the patch that says Darling on the front and smile. When I turn it and look at the back, I choke up.

Property of Mac.

“I know you aren’t property, and I would never treat you that way. This is the way the club identifies who is an old lady. I would change it if I could, but it would mean changing decades of tradition. You don’t have to wear it, but as my old lady, it is yours,” he tells me, looking nervous.

I smile, wrapping my arms around his neck as he sets the jacket back on the bike.

“I don’t mind being owned by you, Mac. I feel free with you,” I tell him honestly.

He leans down and kisses me.

“Hop on then, Mrs. Sheridan.”

I frown. “Mrs.? And isn’t that your last name? Evan called you that. Did you give me your last name?”

He shrugs. “I knew from the beginning that you were special. I wanted to give you all the protection I could. My last name has some of that.”

“We aren’t married yet, though.”

“We could be,” he tells me.

That makes my heart flutter and my head feel like it’s flying. I like the idea of that.

He doesn’t push the issue, though. He helps me put the jacket on, then my helmet. One that fits me perfectly as well.

“Hey, why does it say Darling on the front?”

“Because that’s what I’m willing to let everyone call you. A mhuirnín is just for me,” he says before stealing another kiss.

Once we are on the bike, all my worries fade. I’m simply here with my man.

He winds through the streets until we are far away from town. When he pulls up to an empty field surrounded by trees, I wonder where we are.

I don’t have to wonder for long. He cuts the engine and helps me off the bike. Then he scoots back and picks me up so I’m straddling him on the bike.

“This is where I am going to build you a house. Your dream house,” he says.

“You don’t have to,” I tell him.

He shakes his head. “I see you every time you look next door. You don’t like seeing that house, and that’s fine. We can use them as rental properties or sell them when this place is done. This place will hold no bad memories. Only the good ones for our family.”

I cup his cheek. “Thank you.”

“One more thing.” He looks down at where his hands are on my hips. “Evan is gone. He will never bother you again.”

“I know. He’s in jail.”

Mac looks back up at me and slowly shakes his head.

“No. He’s gone. No longer breathing. Can literally never hurt you again.”

I gasp. “What? How?”

“You don’t want the details, but know that he suffered, and he is taken care of.”

My heart starts to race. “Do I have to worry about you going to jail?”

“No. No one will ever take me from you.”

Relief fills me. He’s right. I don’t need the details. Suddenly, I feel lighter than I have ever felt.

Evan is gone…for good.

Mac is going to build me my dream house. We are going to be a family.

“How are you feeling?” he asks me.

“Honestly? Relieved. I feel like I should feel guilt or sadness, but I am glad he isn’t in this world anymore,” I admit.

“And about me? Does this change how you feel about me?” he whispers.

I cup his cheek. “No. You did what you promised. You protected me. Us. You are the best man I have ever met. I love you.”

Leaning forward, I press a kiss to his lips. It starts off sweet, but all too soon, my libido is going full force. Ever since he gave me my first orgasms, I feel like it takes so little from him to turn me on.

“You know, I’ve never had sex outside before,” I tell him, giving him a coy smile.

He laughs, helping me stand from the bike.

“I’ve never had sex with a woman on my bike before. Want to knock them both out?” he asks.

“Yes,” I tell him without hesitation.

He reaches into his pocket, pulling out a condom.

“You don’t have to use that,” I tell him. “I trust you.”

He nods. “I know you do, but until you are on birth control, we use them. I would love to have more children with you if that’s what you want, but it would need to be planned.

If you decide you don’t, I am happy with our two children we already have.

That’s not a today decision, though, so we use a condom. ”

I didn’t even consider that. Here I am, being a horny bitch while he is considering me yet again. Another reason I love the man.

“Okay.”

Slowly, he drops his pants and boxers, pulling the condom on his cock. Then he helps me unbutton my pants, pulling them and my panties down before bending me over his bike.

“You let me know if I’m being too rough,” he tells me.

I nod. “Anchovies. Got it.”

That makes him laugh. I love that about him. We can laugh even during intimacy. It is a comfort I have never had before.

I don’t get much time to soak it in. The next second, he is at my entrance. Then he slides in, making my eyes roll into the back of my head.

“That’s right. My old lady is taking my cock like a good girl. Isn’t that right, a mhuirnín?”

I moan. “Yes. Please, Mac.”

He tsks his tongue. “You know what name to use when I fuck you. Who is fucking you right now?”

A bolt of pleasure hits me when I realize what he is asking.

“You are fucking me, Colin. My old man. My protector. My everything,” I manage to moan out.

“Fuck, I love my name on your lips. This is going to be quick, so I need you to get there. I refuse to come without you,” he tells me.

I don’t want him to come without me either. I have gotten used to the orgasms he forces on my body.

He starts thrusting faster, the pressure building, but it isn’t enough. Then he reaches around and strums my clit, his chest to my back as he continues to move his hips.

It has an inferno raging inside of me. My entire body feels alive.

When I finally come, his name is on my tongue.

“Colin.”

I can hear him murmuring things to me, but my ears have grown cloudy. My entire body is resting on the bike, his hands on my hips the only thing keeping me standing.

I don’t know how long we stand there like that, but when he finally pulls out and helps me clean up, I feel like a new woman, like the Jane from before was laid to rest, and emerging from this empty field is a new and better version of myself. One that Mac brought out in me.

“Do you know how sexy it was to fuck you while looking at my name on your back? I will never get used to it. Promise me you will wear the jacket often,” he tells me, pulling me into his arms.

“If it gets me this, I will wear it daily,” I promise. That has him growling.

We don’t make it home for several hours.

It’s dinnertime when we pull back up to the house. I can see Smoke grilling while the kids still play. Gunner and Sloane are here, along with Jagger, Bear, and Kelly. Tank pops out of the house, smiling at us before taking Smoke a beer.

This is my family.

As soon as we step off the bike, Emily comes running.

“Mommy, Kelly is teaching me how to do a cartwheel. Come look.”

Emily grabs Jane by the hand and pulls her away. Jane shoots me a coy grin as she tries to adjust her pants. She might be sore for a few days, but it’ll remind her of how good it felt.

As she turns to walk away, my eyes drift down to her back.

Property of Mac.

Fuck me.

It almost doesn’t feel real. Hell, I don’t know if I’ll ever get tired of seeing my name across her back.

I start to head toward my brothers when Tanner comes up to me.

“Can we talk?” he asks, sounding nervous.

I look over to everyone, but no one is paying attention to us.

“Let’s go inside.”

I lead him inside and sit on the couch.

“What did you want to discuss?” I ask him.

He looks nervous. “Will Evan be an issue? I heard the news. He is going to court. They said Mom would have to testify. Can I testify for her? I saw it all. She doesn’t need to do that.”

My heart wants to explode for this kid right now. Here he is, worried about his mom having to relive her trauma, so much so that he would rather relive it himself.

He is going to be a good man one day, especially with my guidance.

I put my hand on his shoulder. “It is taken care of. Evan won’t bother us anymore, and your mom won’t have to testify.”

His little body sags with relief.

“Good,” he mutters.

“Hey, I was actually wanting to talk to you about something.”

“What’s up?” he asks as he crosses his arms over his chest.

“I know you were the man of the house before I came along, and you did an amazing job, but I was hoping you would let me take care of that from now on so you could be a kid for a little while longer.”

He thinks over my words for several minutes.

“What would that mean?” he finally asks.

“It means that you and Emily and your mom would move in here with me. You will do chores and things, but when it comes to the big stuff, you let me handle it. No more taking the world onto your shoulders. I’ll do that for you.”

He looks up at me. “Does this mean I have to call you Dad?”

He looks so nervous.

“You can call me whatever you want to call me. If Dad feels right, then call me Dad. If Mac feels better, then you can call me Mac. If you want my legal name, Colin, then it’s yours.

You can call me that today or in five years from now.

It’s your choice. Whatever you need to be okay with this, bud. ”

He nods. “I appreciate it, Mac.”

I don’t like the disappointment that settles in me, so I push it away. While I stand by telling him it’s his choice, I’m still disappointed he didn’t want to jump right in.

Time. The kid still needs time.

“Good. Any other questions?”

He shakes his head. “I like living here with you better anyway. Mom laughs when she’s with you.”

“I will try to always make her laugh. Why don’t you go outside and play with your sister? I will be out in a bit.”

“Okay. Thank you for what you did for us,” he says, his face looking much older than an eight-year-old in that moment.

Then it’s gone, and he’s back, rushing out of the house.

When I step outside a few minutes later, Jane walks over to me.

“What was all that about?” she asks.

“Tanner had some questions. I answered them and told him that you three would be living with me from now on. He likes the idea, so don’t worry. Do you think Emily will like it?” I ask, looking at the little girl.

“Of course she will. It’s Emily we’re talking about. She already loves you. How did he take it, though?”

“Good. Better than he could have, all things considered.”

Jane’s shoulders sag in relief. “Good. He was the only one I was worried about. I didn’t know how he would take it.”

“We’re good. Now we just need to move all of your shit over.”

Jane smiles at me. “I can’t wait.”

“Same, a mhuirnín. Same.”

I lean down and kiss her, loving my new little family.

“I hear congratulations are in order,” Smoke says, coming to pat me on the shoulder.

“What?” Jane asks, her eyebrows creased with confusion.

“You are wearing your jacket. They know you’ve accepted being my old lady,” I tell her.

Her cheeks heat as she thinks about how we just celebrated that for hours on our own.

“Oh. Yeah. Thanks,” she murmurs.

“No need to be embarrassed. I remember when Smoke asked me to be his,” Kelly says. “These biker men can be so hot, can’t they?”

Jane laughs. “Yeah. He sure knows how to take care of me.”

“As he should.” Smoke interjects. “If not, I would beat his ass myself.”

I laugh, pulling away from Jane as I throw a punch at Smoke’s arm.

“I’d like to see you try, old man.”

“Old? Who are you calling old, Mac?” he tosses back.

He moves away from Kelly as we box. Nothing too hard. A jab here or there.

Tanner comes running up, asking if we can teach him. I look to Jane, who nods, so we do.

That’s how we spend the rest of the evening. Eating, talking, and enjoying this new family we have formed.

Who knew that when I felt unsettled, all it would take was one beautiful woman and two perfect little angels to set my world right again.
