CHAPTER TEN
– MACSEN –
After spending two nights with Lu, I had to return to the clubhouse.
The tense situation between Lu and Holland has cooled down a bit.
This little fact gives me some peace of mind to leave them in the same house together.
I have no clue what they talked about in his office two days ago, but they hashed their shit out and after that there wasn’t a “walking on eggshells” vibe anymore.
I take one step inside the clubhouse and come face-to-face with Livi. “What was she doing here, Macsen? Spill. I heard all about Holland busting down doors here at the clubhouse to get her to come back home. Why was he angry as fuck?”
There isn’t a resemblance between Livi and Lu.
Different mothers, same father, a sharp contrast between night and day.
Livi thrived in a law enforcement career while Lu became an assassin.
The complete opposite and if you ask me?
It’s the same with their character, even if both are strong females with a steel spine.
“If you heard all about it, why do you still need me to spill shit?” I mutter and step around her.
Livi cuts me off by jumping in front of me again and narrows her eyes. “I’m angry at you.”
I rear my head back. “The fuck? She came here, I didn’t go looking for her, Livi. She asked for my help and her being your half-sister and all...what was I supposed to do? Kick her out and turn my back on her?”
Livi’s voice is an angry hiss when she says, “You shouldn’t have fucked her. There’s a line, you know.”
“A line,” I echo.
“Macsen, church,” Thorsen bellows.
Thank fuck.
“Gotta go,” I grunt. “Duty calls.”
There’s no way to step around her when she punches my shoulder. “Your duty was to keep your dick away from her. Now we’re dealing with the ramifications.”
My head jerks back in surprise. “You weren’t even there that night.
Fucking hell, you didn’t even know you had a damn sister.
How would I have known not to touch her?
Besides, it’s not like I came on to her or forced her onto my cock.
She came on to me. Two months later she breaks into my room. How the hell can you blame me?”
Livi throws her arms away from her body. “Who else should I blame?”
I blink very slowly.
“Livi, leave my VP alone. You should be thanking him instead of biting his head off. If it was up to you then there wouldn’t be any contact. Look how long it took for you to open up to your mother’s side of the family. Now, let Macsen get his ass into church so we can discuss a plan to...”
“To put those fuckers in jail so I don’t have to deal with them anymore,” Livi grumbles, cutting me off while she rubs her belly.
She’s a few months pregnant and a small baby bump is showing. They found out yesterday it’s gonna be a boy. Needless to say, Thorsten is over the moon with this little fact.
“Fine,” Thorsten growls. “Church, both of you.”
Livi grins and I get the feeling she blocked me on purpose knowing Thorsten’s patience would be tested.
“You’re evil,” I mutter as we move toward church.
She flips me off. “And you’re Satan for fucking my sister.”
“My cock isn’t a pitchfork, Livi. Though I can guarantee your sister likes the shape and size of...”
Thorsten jabs a finger against my chest. “VP, stop talking to my old lady about your damn cock.”
Lenz is holding a laptop over his head. “King of information walking into church. Come on, people. Time to get our heads together and kick some ass.”
My attention is certainly drawn, and I stalk into church to take my seat. Every single one of my club brothers is sitting at the round table, when Livi closes the door behind her. She walks over to her old man and sits on his lap.
“Wisely Dicey is losing its edge with the sappy shit you two are pulling,” Jocko grumbles. “Whores can’t be naked, chicks turn into old ladies, growing bellies, women in church, what’s next? Changing diapers right next to the fucking gavel?”
Falcon smacks Jocko on the back of his head to get his attention and then slides his thumb along his neck, telling the fucker without words to cut it out.
“Don’t worry about it.” Livi waves in Falcon’s direction. “He’s just jealous. I’ll talk to Kenz and we’ll see if we can hook him up with...”
Jocko rudely interrupts her by saying, “Hook, as in hookers. It’s the only thing you can arrange for me so think before you finish your sentence. No damn way am I handing over my balls to a woman or will so much as claim an old lady.”
“Well, if you’re not handing your balls over to a woman, then maybe you need a dick up your ass,” Livi snaps. “Though, it sure sounds like someone shoved a stick up there already.”
“Prez,” Jocko growls, while the rest of us snicker.
“Now you wanna whine? Fucker.” Thorsten shakes his head.
“We’ve had some changes these past few months, but the core of our strength is unchangeable.
This is who we’ve become. Every single one united instead of the divided and dysfunctional horny, money hungry idiots my father surrounded himself with.
We’ve grown. We evolved. Every single brother sitting at this table can look the other in the eye and know without a single word he has his back. ”
I slap my flat hand on the table, “Hear, hear.”
Everyone follows my action, filling the air with hard table slaps and grunts. It feels damn good to feel this unity among us and everyone knows it, even Jocko. He lifts his chin in Livi’s direction, and she gives him a slight nod in return.
“Okay, assholes. Lenz, bring us up to speed,” Thorsten orders.
I don’t know all the details yet, but Thorsten called me yesterday about some of the things Lenz found concerning a live snuff movie auction. This thing is bigger than Holland and Lu. We need to get ahead of it and bring those fuckers down before they kill more innocent people.
Lenz clicks a few buttons on his laptop and flips a switch, allowing the screen to be projected on the wall behind Thorsten.
“I pulled the name through the system and snatched a few recent photographs. Gideon Wilton is a man with many faces.” The idiot snickers at his own joke.
“Facial recognition systems haves difficulties with identical twins, yet I tweaked our system a bit. Judging from different photographs out there the system has managed to reveal three faces who keep rotating.”
“Triplets?” I grunt.
“Triplets,” Lenz assures. “When I found out it made me think why the fuck they would do this shit at birth. You know, not reporting triplets but only making one kid official. So, I did the same with daddy dearest, and guess what? Twins. When Dudley was twenty-three there was a car bomb. They say it was an attempted murder, but there’s only photographs of one of them after that time. ”
Mercer snaps his fingers and points at the wall when he states, “Okay, that’s some crazy shit. Though, it’s an open and shut thing. I’m sure you have something exciting to solve since we’re all in here.”
“An auction for a live stream snuff movie.” Lenz suddenly has all eyes on him.
“Once I had Gideon’s face, I ran a search.
Not as easy as it sounds, and the dark web is a damn hole with closed doors behind closed doors.
Anyway, I managed to find a post yesterday where people were leaving bids.
The description was ‘live fantasy with only your happy ending.’ It matched the information VP gave us about the live snuff movie Lu witnessed. ”
Murmurs flow through the room and I feel the need to add, “Lu witnessed it because she followed Gideon. She saw more than one of him when they killed a man. Lu had no choice but to defend herself and kill Gideon, her fiancé. We all know what she’s capable of, but Holland received the news that there was an assassination attempt instead of a murder. ”
“So, the triplets are a man down, leaving only two,” Jocko states.
“My sister is engaged to be married and you didn’t tell me?” Livi almost snaps my head off with her words.
“Half-sister,” I mutter and she shoots me a glare. “Her father arranged the marriage.”
“What. The. Actual. Fuck?” Livi roars. “What century do we live in? Oh, he’s soooo going down. What the hell is he thinking? Using her as a fucking pawn in a business deal the way those mafia fuckers...fuck...really? I thought the arranged marriage shit only happened in books and movies.”
“It’s why she came to me,” I tell her.
She bobs her head in understanding.
“Holland had his twisted reasons, doesn’t make shit right, though.” I release a deep sigh. “There’s more, but it’s not my story to tell. I know I can’t protect her, and she damn well doesn’t need it, but she came to me.”
“She did,” Thorsten rumbles. “And I will honor your request as long as I can to put her in a good light during this investigation. Though, if we link her to any murders, we might not have a choice but to bring her down as well.”
I nod, and yet my gut turns at the thought of Lu getting locked up for life.
