CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
Four months later
– MACSEN –
Thorsten is pacing back and forth across the small waiting room.
I’m leaning against the wall and can’t help but wonder what thoughts are running through his head.
Shit. In two months, it’s going to be me pacing back and forth.
Could I keep my cool knowing Lu is in the delivery room bringing our children into the world? Maybe it’ll be a C-section.
Children. Twins.
Livi is popping out one kid while Lu is carrying twins. Yeah, total surprise for both of us. Twin boys. We’re still discussing names and thank fuck we still have a few weeks to go since she’s seven months pregnant.
“Hey,” Lu murmurs as she steps closer to me.
I’m about to kiss her when Thorsten suddenly worms himself between us. “How is she? Everything okay?”
“Won’t be long now. She’s fully dilated. You can go in if you...”
Thorsten abruptly cuts her off. “No, I’m fine waiting out here. You go back in, she wants you there. Come and get me once Livi calls for me, okay?”
Lu reaches out and squeezes his arm. “Will do.”
Thorsten nods and goes back to pacing the room.
“Everything okay?” I ask my old lady.
She sighs. “Can we get some milkshakes and burgers before we go home later?”
“Hungry?” The corner of my mouth twitches.
It’s only been two hours since I went out to get her a chocolate milkshake, fries, and a burger. These past few weeks she’s been having some serious cravings. Yesterday she devoured pineapples. The day before that it was anything with cheese. She seems to switch every day.
“You would be too if you were in that room watching your sister huff and puff. Not to mention, Lynn is on a roll, explaining very vividly how every damn member of Broken Deeds second generation came into the world. Seriously, how can that woman have witnessed all those births? Sometimes I think she’s unhuman. ”
I chuckle and pull her closer. “I’m sure she is. How’s your stepmom holding up?”
Lu wrinkles her nose. “Please don’t call her that.”
“How’s Ludovica doing?” I grin, using the woman’s first name.
Lu huffs. “I think she’s already traumatized. I don’t even want to think of her giving birth to...nope, not going there. Shit. I don’t even know why Livi insisted on her being in the room.”
I cup Lu’s face and brush my thumb along her jaw.
“Livi wants to have all the women she considers family in the room while she gives birth. A fierce female team surrounding and supporting her. Besides, it’s a good solution.
Thorsten pulled a gun on the midwife when Livi went into labor.
He can’t handle it, well when she’s in pain. ”
The corner of her mouth twitches. “I was there. He would have pulled the trigger if Livi didn’t stop him.”
I pat her ass. “Right. Go back inside. Hopefully it won’t take long and everything will be right in the world again.”
“See you soon,” she murmurs against my lips.
My woman is fucking gorgeous, carrying our twin sons in her belly.
I release a happy sigh, loving the fact that she is mine in every way.
Not just my old lady, but also my wife. Back in Ryckerdan when we spent a few weeks’ vacation time, I found out Lynn was ordained.
Needless to say, we returned to the clubhouse as a married couple.
No damn way was I going to risk her father changing plans and organizing another husband for her. There’s only one, and that’s me. A smile slides across my face. I’m so damn proud of my woman and the way she handles everything. Still does, since life is never easy.
Thorsten jabs his fingers through his hair and I step in front of him to block his pacing.
“Calm down,” I tell him.
Falcon comes to a stop next to me and gives his brother a tight nod.
“We’re all here for you and you know how damn tough your old lady is. She’s got this, man.” I grab his shoulder and give a hard squeeze.
“She’s fire,” Thorsten states.
At the same time, we hear a loud cry and glance at the open door of the delivery room.
Lynn is standing in the doorway. “It’s a boy! Congratulations, Thorsten. Though, you have to try again because I’m kinda in the middle of founding an all-female MC. Your baby has a piss hose dangling downstairs and isn’t qualified to join.”
We all stare at her until Thorsten announces, “Then we’ll have to try again.”
Lynn snaps her fingers and points at Thorsten when she says, “I knew I liked you. Come, meet your kiddo.”
Thorsten steps forward and we all follow him into the room. Livi is sitting up in the bed and looks exhausted. Except, the glow on her face and the smile tugging at her lips as she stares down at the little bundle in her arms? So. Damn. Precious.
Lu steps closer to me and I wrap an arm around her waist to pull her against me.
Placing a kiss on the top of her head, I murmur, “One look at them and you know that’s love right there.”
Lu releases a happy sigh and I feel her head tip back. Glancing down, I stare at her stunning green eyes. There might be a lot of people in the room, but when she looks at me the way she does now? It’s just us and fuck everyone, and everything else.
Shifting my body, I take her face in my hands and murmur, “I fucking love you. Every day a fraction more than here and now where our breaths mingle. To know we will have our moment in two months, just like Livi and Thorsten, where we will become a family lights my heart with joy.”
“You, Macsen, are the spark that lights my joy with an eternal fire.” Her voice cracks with all the emotion swirling between us. “I love you just as much, if not more.”
I grin and murmur against her lips, “It’s not a competition. If it was, you’d lose because my love trumps yours.”
Someone snorts and I pull away from our almost kiss to glare at Jocko who steps into the room. The fucker has recently returned after a long recovery, and an assignment Thorsten put him on which moved him out of state for a few months.
“What?” I snap. “Do you have something to say?”
Jocko bobs his head. “Yeah. Actually, I do.” He turns to Lu. “I’m glad I missed.”
Anger boils up and Lu’s hand grabbing my leather vest is the only thing that keeps me rooted to the spot.
“Thanks,” Lu says.
Jocko turns to me. “Oh, and VP? Love and relationship shit does have a competitive level. You know, anniversaries, date night, remembering those things and doing stuff to make sure everything is in balance. Just giving you a heads-up.”
I shake my head while he moves to Thorsten and Livi.
“I really dislike that fucker,” I grumble.
Lu pulls gently on my leather cut. “Everyone has a learning curve in life. Moments where you fuck up and would like a do-over except some things are carved in stone once they happen. It’s a good thing we all reacted correctly and live to be annoyed about it.”
I chuckle and wrap her in my arms. “I’m not simply annoyed, sweetheart. No one fucks with your life, not even a club brother. It will take years, or something close to a damn miracle before I can even begin to think about forgiving him.”
Lu sighs. “You know it’s bad to hold a grudge, right? I mean, you’re the one who gets all the negativity weighing you down if you keep it all inside.”
I’m about to say something when Thorsten steps closer with his son in his arms. “VP, Lu, I’d like for you guys to meet Novak Rhyland.”
Reaching out, I grab his shoulder. “Nice strong name, brother.”
His eyes are filled with emotion as he nods and glances down at his son.
“Can I hold my nephew?” Lu croaks.
Thorsten grins and passes Novak to Lu. Fuck. The sight of her holding the little one is a reminder of what we hopefully will have soon enough as well. It’s a blessing to see this MC rise from the ashes.
Almost a year ago we were struggling with Thorsten’s father fucking up the MC.
The older generation ruining shit for the second generation.
All while now we’re moving into a future where there’s no illegal things tied to our names, fully legit and working for the government.
A solid future where each day we built on trust, loyalty, brotherhood, and the found family that keeps on growing.
The little one in Lu’s arms, and those inside her belly are the start of a new era. One we all will work hard on to make sure it’ll be even greater for them as it is for us.
