Chapter 20
Mad Dog
Grind’s outburst has us all snapping our heads in his direction. Clearly the name rings a bell.
“You know him?” Marx probes the other man.
“I know of him. He’s a big name in BC,” Grind mutters.
“He gonna be a problem?”
Grind shakes his head. “Not for you.”
Marx stares him down before giving Grind a chin lift.
Diesel’s whines break through the conversation taking place. The bastard is really struggling. “Please lady, gimme the stuff.”
Chewy obliges, stepping forward shaking the canister in her hand. She leans forward, looking at a particularly gnarly burn. She holds the canister over the wound, then presses the nozzle. Fire blows out the end, literally burning Diesel’s wound closed.
“What the fuck is that thing?” Grind asks in awe.
“Oh, just a can of Axe body spray, but I rigged an igniter on it, see?” She turns to show him, the flame traveling with her, all of us taking a big damn step back.
“Baby, concentrate,” Rhodie murmurs over Diesel’s scream then silence.
“Shit, he’s blacked out again. Wake him up, Pops.”
Pops obliges and Lovely heads to turn the overhead fan on. “Thanks, Lovely,” Gus says, waving a hand in front of his face.
“Smells like a teenage boy turd covered in burnt hair,” Rider grumbles and shockingly, he’s not wrong.
Pops throws his concoction over Diesel, and shockingly, he doesn't immediately jerk awake. Instead he groans. “Huh. I expected more.”
“I think he’s almost fucked,” Jules says. He’s a man of few words, but when he does speak, he’s pretty succinct.
Marx stares down at the sorry excuse in the chair. “I’ve heard enough. We’ve been attacking Thompson’s operation piece by piece and still haven’t brought him down. With this ‘marketplace’ he has unlimited resources. We’ve hurt him, but we haven’t hurt him enough.”
“What do you suggest?” Rhodie asks, gently rocking his son.
“I suggest we stop screwing around and go straight to the top.” Marx and Rhodie share a feral grin and pride gives me an ache in my chest.
“We all in agreement?” Marx asks the room.
“Fuck, yes!” Lovely yells out and we all laugh at the sweetest, most proper Ol Lady we have dropping an F bomb.”
“Right, well, Willa, the rest is up to you,” Marx says.
“Oh oh! We need music!” Mira says, pulling her phone out of her pocket.
“There is only one song that would fit Willa taking her revenge,” Vi smirks.
“What’s that?”
The Ol Ladies look at each other, and Willa beams. “Silver Springs.”
The open bars play out as Chewy steps up next to Willa, handing her some weird looking massage gun dildo contraption.
“Open wide.”
***
Willa rolls onto her side, scooting her butt back until it hits the side of my thigh. I don’t leave my woman hanging. I roll, pulling her into me, her little spoon to my big. Burying my nose in her hair, I breathe her in for a moment before angling my head back.
“You good, babe?”
“Yeah. I think so?” She wriggles around, rolling to face me so her bent knees bump into mine. “If I’m honest I never really pictured face fucking Diesel with a massage gun dildo.”
“Well, I mean, who does?” I huff.
“Chewy?”
We both snort at that. Chewy is so clever she’s scary and I’m damn glad she’s on our side. Even if she has messed up ways of getting justice.
“Do you feel OK about what went down?” I ask her, pushing some hair behind her ear, then cupping her face.
“I felt nothing, looking down at his mangled body. Nothing at all. But there's this thing where it feels like I can breathe easier knowing he isn’t in the world and he can never get to me ever again.”
“That sounds a lot like freedom, babe.”
She smiles at me in the dark. “I like it.”
I smile back. “It looks good on you.”
She stares at me, my eyes adjusted enough to see the curve of her cheek, the faint outline of her lips, her bright eyes as they peer up at me.
“Miles?”
“Yeah, babe?”
She’s quiet, her warm breaths ghosting over my throat. “I love you.”
My heart stutters before it swoops and soars. My woman. My tough as nails, foul mouthed, knows her mind woman just gave me something I never thought I’d have again in this lifetime. The love of a good woman.
“You don’t have to say it back or anything, I just wanted to let you know -”
I move in bed, cupping her face with both of my hands. There’s no way in hell I’m gonna let my woman second guess herself.
“I love you,” I blurt out. “Everything about you is my favorite thing. Your scent is my favorite scent in the world. That little thing you do with your nose when you think something is funny but you don't want to laugh out loud, that’s my favorite expression. My favorite part of the day is when you share your space with me. You’re my favorite everything and that’s how I know that I love you. ”
“Well, shit. That blows my declaration out of the water,” she grins.
“Meh. I’ve had a lot of time to think about it.”
She smiles wide in the dim light. “Oh yeah?”
“Fuck yeah. What did you think I was doing when I was thinking up ways to fix your house and booking in massages?”
She giggles, then buries her nose in my throat, taking a deep breath, and letting it out. Her body loosens up in my grip and I wrap her tighter.
“Love you.”
“Love you too.”
Willa
“Oh Willy Wonka,” a voice calls and I roll my eyes.
I can’t believe that the name not only stuck, but it caught on and now the whole MC calls me Willy Wonka. Or even worse, just Wonka.
“Really? Are we really sticking with that?” I ask as I hold the door of mine and Mad Dogs’ cabin open so the Ol Ladies and their children can come in.
It turns out the MC had decided to throw up cabins for every member and in an effort to be closer to the club I decided to rent out my little house, and move in with Miles.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my little house.
It was my first safe space after leaving Diesel.
I poured blood, sweat and tears into that home because it was the first thing that belonged to me.
But since Miles and I claimed each other, we decided we wanted something that belonged to the both of us.
Hence why I’m unpacking boxes of my stuff into our cabin.
She’s small, she’s cozy, and she sits between Marx and Rhodie so it’s perfect for us.
I may only be 45, but I have grandbabies to spoil now and I can’t think of a time in my life where I felt happier.
“Well, you shot down Wet Willy, Free Willy and Wee Willy Winky so that’s all we were left with,” Vi smarts.
“Or you could just call me by my name.”
“We could, but that’s boring,” Mira smirks.
“Hello Willa, do you have any cookies?” Chewy says, not looking at me. “I’m nursing you know.”
“Yup. I do know.” I move to the cookie tin on the counter. “I made these last night, they’re meant to help with milk production.”
Chewy stares at them like they’ve been poisoned before gingerly picking one up. “That seems weird. And less delicious than chocolate, but beggars can't be choosers.” She looks up at me then. “I understand that one.”
I smile at her, then give Laney-May a chocolate cookie from another tin. I also have a little snack for Chomper too so I give him one, giving him a little pat on the head before handing out more cookies to the Little Littles.
“Damn, you’re like a proper grandmother type,” Blanche whispers.
“I’m not that bad.” I roll my eyes.
“Are you serious?” Nat asks. “You just invited everyone in and then cookie-d and head patted all the children.
“She’s right, that’s peak nana behaviour,” Ana agrees. “I mean, I should know, Debs is my mum.”
“Shit. No offence to you Debs -”
“None taken, baby,” Debs says.
“- but I can’t be nana-y already. I’m only 45!” I look around at the babies. “OK, I can’t not give them cookies either, look at their little faces!” All the kids look up at me with chocolate staining their teeth and cheeks. “How about I lay off the pats?”
“Or, how about you help us arrange a kick ass party for your patching party?” Remy waggles her brows.
“We don’t have time, it’s tonight,” I reply, a little zing of excitement fizzing in my belly.
“That’s like, eight hours away. Trust me. We have time.” Jazz smirks.
“You think?”
“Trust me,” Pops says, clapping his hands and rubbing his palms together.
The funny thing is, I do trust him. I trust each and every person in the Devil’s Rose MC. They started off as my friends, and now they’re on the fast track to becoming the family I always wanted.
“OK then, let's do this!”
***
“Are we sure this is a good idea?” I ask, eyeing the giant cardboard dick that’s sitting in the middle of the clubhouse.
“Of course,” Chewy says, a little too perkily.
“I second that,” Pops adds. We’re not even voting on anything.
“I don't know, team, it seems a little…” I’m at a loss for words. I have no idea where it came from, how it got in here or who even ordered it. Although I have a sneaky suspicion.
“Look, sweetheart,” Pops starts, “I know it seems overwhelming, but it’s symbolic of yours and Mad Dog’s relationship.”
I cross my arms over my chest. “How?”
All the Ol Ladies that are sitting quietly around the lounge, staring up at the giant peen all sit forward, waiting for Pops' answer.
Instead, Blanche raises her hand. I gesture at her to explain to me why this dick is symbolic of my relationship.
“Think of it this way, you bashed Diesel in the the face with a dick, and in your real life I bet you let Mad Dog bash you in the face with his d-”
Remy slaps her hand over Blanche’s mouth but it doesn’t do much to muffle Blanche’s laughter. Or the laughter of the Ol Ladies.
“You kinda have a point there, Blanche,” I reply. “In that case it can stay. If we can make it look prettier.”
“Willa, you should know by now we can do anything.”
