5. Sawyer #3
Beckett captured my mouth in a searing kiss, movements growing choppier with each powerful shift of his hips.
We were both barely hanging on, stuck somewhere between determination to chase the release and the desperation in never wanting this to end.
He didn’t need to say it. I felt it with each pulse of his fingertips or brush of his lips.
Or maybe I was romanticizing the whole encounter in my head, and this was nothing more than a means to an end for him.
To me, it was damn near everything.
It wasn’t just the fact I was having sex with someone, but rather, the way Beckett made me feel while it happened.
I hadn’t expected this kind of tenderness from a man I was never going to see again.
The fact he knew what I needed without me having to vocalize it made it hard for me to come to terms with the fact he’d be gone by morning.
“I need you to come again,” he said, looking down at where his cock slid in and out of me. “I can’t… last much longer. It’s too good. You’re too fucking good.”
My fingers slid between our bodies, splaying on either side of my clit as I rubbed tight circles around the area. I could feel my release lingering on the edge, ready to claim me at a moment’s notice.
“That’s it,” he breathed. Beckett’s eyes were locked between my thighs as he watched me touch myself while he fucked me. “That’s so fucking hot.”
His words gave me what I needed. That final praise sent me over the edge, applying just the right amount of pleasure the moment he slammed home. I could barely hear his cries over my own as my pussy convulsed around his length, triggering his own release.
Beckett’s body seized, his whole body tensing up in blissful agony. With his eyes closed and head tilted back like that, he looked truly beautiful. Serene, almost. The tense expression I’d seen on his face at the beginning of the night had slipped away for one peaceful moment.
It was gone almost as fast as it came.
With a smile, Beckett rolled off of me and trotted into the bathroom to dispose of the condom.
I lay there, naked and exposed, for only a moment before my insecurities got the best of me.
We’d done the deed. Now it was time for me to leave, wasn’t it?
There was no way I was going to have the painfully awkward conversation that seemed to follow in books and movies.
That “should I stay or should I go” scene made me cringe.
I almost always ended up shouting at the girl to grab her things and leave before it happened.
Now it was time for me to follow through.
The sound of running water was the perfect cover for me to slip out of bed and search for my clothes. The dress was easy, but my panties weren’t where I thought they would be. I could’ve sworn he’d tossed them nearby, but clearly I’d been too dickmatized to pay close enough attention.
God. I didn’t really want to leave them behind, but if it would save me from the conversation that was about to occur, I’d consider them a necessary sacrifice.
I was about to slip my dress over my head when Beckett’s voice stopped me dead in my tracks. “Hey, where are you hurrying off to?” His voice sounded playful, but there was an anxious edge to it.
“Don’t worry. I know what this is and what it isn’t.” He opened his mouth, but I put my hand up and politely smiled. “We had a great time, and I won’t overstay my welcome.”
Beckett looked around, confused. “Is there a reason you’re trying to rush out the door after I gave you multiple orgasms? Because I’ve gotta say, this is a weird way to say thank you.”
I turned toward him, dress askew. “Thank you?”
To his credit, he winced. “Alright. That didn’t come out as I intended.”
“And how did you intend it?” I asked, crossing my arms over my chest. I was pretty sure one of my boobs was sticking out, but I didn’t care. “Because saying I owe you anything just because you made me come is pretty shitty.”
“You’re absolutely right. I just meant,” he sighed and ran a hand through his already tousled hair. “I kind of thought you’d stay.”
Surely, I hadn’t heard that right, so I parroted him. “You thought I’d stay?”
He shrugged. “It’s not like they have a bunch of Uber drivers in the area, and you have no car, so I figured you’d stay the night with me here, and I could take you back to the fairgrounds in the morning.”
For a moment, I couldn’t remember why he’d take me back there, but then I realized he probably thought I had left my car there. It never even crossed his mind that I’d lied to cover up the fact that I’d walked.
“Oh,” I said, looking down at my feet. Embarrassment coursed through my body, burning my cheeks. “That’s… kind of you.”
Beckett’s lips curled into a smirk. “I’m not heartless, you know. I thought you might have picked up on that already.”
“I’ve never really done this before,” I confessed.
It was the truth in more ways than one. The closest I vowed to ever get to telling him this was the first time I’d ever had sex.
“The whole one-night-stand thing. It may come as a shock, but there aren’t many options here in Pinecrest. The dating pool is either old men who could be my father or boys I graduated high school with. Neither of which interest me.”
“That’s a shame. One-night stands can be so much fun,” he said, stepping closer. He reached up, moving my hair over my shoulder. “Though I could think of something even more satisfying.”
“Really? And what’s that?”
I didn’t move as the pads of his fingers toyed with the strap of my dress. “Having you take off this dress—again—and hopping into that bed so I can make you come—again.”
“Doesn’t that break all the rules of what this is?
” I could barely keep my voice even as he placed a kiss over my collarbone.
There was no way I was leaving. Not now.
Not with the way he was looking at me. And he was right.
There was no way into town at this hour that wouldn’t have me walking at least five miles back the way we came.
It’d be morning by the time I made it there.
Might as well accept the orgasms while I can.
“I like breaking rules with you,” he confessed. Another kiss, this time on my neck. “Please, stay. I’ll take you back first thing. I won’t even make you sit through a horribly prepared breakfast if you don’t want to.”
