Chapter 13-Serena

“STOP THIS!”

Power flooded the room like a shockwave.

Rune-light flared along the walls.

Raven moved instantly, wings snapping open to shield me from whatever magic had been hurled.

His body became a barrier.

A fortress.

I was still half-drunk on almost-orgasm, breathing hard, frustrated and furious.

“What is going on here? Draugr, we have a contract!” the woman’s heels clicked sharply against stone.

Contract?

My brain scrambled.

“I honor the contract,” Raven snarled, voice lethal. “It has no bearing here.”

His rage rolled through the room like thunder.

And instead of being afraid—I felt it.

Felt why.

He wasn’t angry because he’d been interrupted.

He was angry because someone tried to interfere.

With me.

“You will remove yourself, Draugr,” the headmistress said calmly.

Her tone bothered me.

She didn’t say Raven.

She didn’t say his name.

She said Draugr.

Using his title like a weapon.

Like a curse.

I pressed my hand firmly against the space beneath his left wing.

“It’s alright, Raven.”

He relaxed slightly.

His wings folded inward.

And then—they vanished.

Just gone.

“What—where did they go?” I blurted, ignoring the headmistress entirely.

“Yes, well,” the woman said coolly, “Raven can explain his abilities later. I must speak with you alone.”

Alone?

Absolutely not.

I met Raven’s eyes.

He softened.

Just a fraction.

“Will you come back?” I asked quietly.

Vulnerable.

Maybe foolish.

He leaned down and pressed his lips to my forehead.

Warm.

Possessive.

Unyielding.

“Nothing can keep me away from you now, Unnasta.”

The promise settled deep inside my chest.

Like a rune carved into bone.

He blurred from the room.

Gone.

And suddenly—the hunger shifted again.

It didn’t disappear.

It stretched.

Pulled.

Like a cord tightening through space.

He wasn’t in the room.

But he wasn’t gone.

The connection remained.

I licked my lips slowly.

Chocolate.

Wine.

Him.

Whatever Professor Kenna was about to say—whatever this contract was—one thing was already clear.

I didn’t want him to stay away.

And something deep inside me—ancient, pulsing with violet magic—whispered, I won’t.
