Epilogue

Ryan – Nine months later

“The turkey is delicious, sweets,” I said, looking across the table at my gorgeous wife.

Her deep brown hair, now threaded with caramel and toffee colored highlights, fell in gentle waves around her shoulders.

I had a vision of wrapping her hair around my fist and tugging on it as I took her from behind.

I discreetly reached under the table to adjust my thickening cock, but it instantly deflated when my father-in-law echoed my compliment.

“I agree, honey. Everything is just wonderful,” her dad said, then scooped another spoonful of mashed potatoes onto his plate. He reached for the gravy, blithely ignoring Mel’s mother as she reminded him that the doctor wanted him to limit his caloric intake.

“He wants you to watch what you eat, remember?”

“I am watching what I eat…I’m watching it go from my plate, to my fork, to my mouth. It’s Thanksgiving, Ruthie. Today, I’m going to enjoy this fine meal that Melanie and Ryan prepared. I’ll go back to a diet of oxygen, deprivation, and misery tomorrow.”

Tanner and Garrett snickered, and their grandfather shot them a wink.

“I can’t take much credit for this, Joe. My only contribution was peeling the potatoes and chopping the celery and onion for the dressing. Mel did the rest.”

“That’s only because you and the boys handled that emergency call last night and didn’t get home until well after midnight. I figured you needed to sleep in a little this morning.”

The organization we volunteered for had received a call about an elderly woman whose wheelchair ramp had just broken.

It was a wooden ramp, and several of the boards were badly rotted and finally given way.

Without the ramp, she was essentially trapped in her house unless someone lifted her out of her chair and carried her out.

Since her husband used a walker to get around, he obviously couldn’t do it.

The project coordinator had called us in desperation, and we’d grabbed out tools and supplies to make some emergency repairs that would tide her over until we could replace the entire ramp early next week.

Joe asked a few questions about the work we’d done. After Tanner explained the repairs we’d made, Ruth changed the subject to one that threatened to give me indigestion.

“Ryan, we saw on the news last night that Mitch was only sentenced to nine years. I’m so glad the trial is over and he was found guilty, but to only get nine years after cheating all those people out of their life savings? It’s just doesn’t seem like a harsh enough punishment.”

“He ruined a lot of lives,” Joe grumbled.

“Yeah, he did, Joe.” I refrained from adding that Melanie and I had almost been two of his casualties.

We’d rebuilt our marriage and it was stronger than ever, and both of us made a concerted effort to keep it that way.

We hadn’t had a session with Kim in three months, although we were open to going back if we ever felt the need.

We were rock-solid again, and I would be forever grateful to Kim for helping us get to this point.

Later that evening, after Tanner and Garrett left go hang out with some friends, Mel and I took advantage of their absence.

The first round was quick and hard as I bent her over the bed, tugging on a fist full of her gorgeous wavy hair as I fucked her hard from behind, just as I’d imagined during dinner. Round two was slow and sensual, a connection of not just our bodies, but also our souls.

Afterward, I held her in my arms as our bodies cooled and our breathing returned to normal.

“Did you look over the link that I sent you about the resort in Fiji?” I’d gotten the idea for a beach getaway from the sculpture that Joe and Ruth had given her for her birthday. I wanted to walk along the beach, hand in hand with the love of my life, while waves crashed along the shore.

Melanie lifted her head from my shoulder to look up at me. “I did, and it’s gorgeous.”

“Are you sure you’re OK with going away for your birthday? I don’t want it to trigger you.”

She smiled and pressed a kiss to my chin.

“I’m absolutely sure, but I love you for asking. It will be a fabulous birthday present that I will truly never forget.”
