Chapter 31 I Love Anything My Husband Gives Me
Stacy Chen was fuming, her face turning bright red.
Always concerned about her reputation, she felt utterly humiliated. She vented all her anger on Clara Bennett, raising her hand to strike her, but was held back by someone nearby.
The person pointed at the surveillance camera on the ceiling, advising her to calm down and let it go.
Stacy glared at Clara with hatred, gritting her teeth for a long moment before saying, "What's so great about marrying a penniless man? Forget about a diamond ring; he can't even buy you a copper or iron ring! You two can stay poor forever!"
With that, she stormed off. Clara watched her leave in a huff and smiled faintly.
It seemed there would be no peace at the company from now on.
She needed to start planning for her future and find a way out.
...
The next day, when Clara appeared at the company, she looked different from usual.
She, who normally didn't wear makeup, had put on some light makeup, and there was something new on her hand.
A large emerald ring.
Her colleagues stared at her with wide eyes. The ring's band looked like pure gold, with intricate engravings, and the emerald on top was clear and vibrant, looking very luxurious.
However, the ring's style was somewhat old, as if it had been around for a while.
Clara gently touched it.
She had taken it out of the box last night. Her slender fingers made the ring a bit too big, and Mason Reed had suggested taking it to a jeweler to resize it, but she couldn't wait.
Hadn't Stacy said her husband couldn't even afford a ring?
Today, she would show her what she was wearing!
"Clara, that's beautiful!" The female colleagues gathered around, curiously examining it. "I've never seen a ring like this before. Is it custom-made?"
"But it looks so old," someone objected. "Like an antique."
"Clara, did your husband give it to you? Why is it so big? Did your mother-in-law wear it too? Is it a family heirloom?"
Clara just smiled without saying a word.
Stacy walked by and glanced at her ring.
Her eyes lit up. Although the style was old, it was clearly a valuable piece that had stood the test of time. But...
How could Clara possibly have such a treasure?
Stacy sneered and said coldly, "It's probably fake, right?"
The office suddenly fell silent, and people felt awkward, returning to their seats.
"Clara, we went to the same school, and as your senior, I should give you some advice.
" Stacy shot her a sidelong glance. "This ring is old and worn.
That thing on top looks like colored glass, not an emerald.
.. Ha, you've probably been fooled by your husband.
Is he trying to win your favor with this junk? "
Clara touched the ring and met her gaze, responding calmly, "I wear the ring to show that I'm married, nothing more. Whether it's glass or an emerald, it makes no difference to me."
"Besides," she smiled openly, "as long as it's from my husband, even if it's a copper or iron ring, it's his thoughtfulness, and I'll love it just the same!"
"Ha," Stacy mocked, "such a poor life!"
Clara didn't take it to heart and continued with her busy work.
In the afternoon, while Clara was working on the sales plan for the next quarter, she heard Anna muttering quietly, "She's so desperate for orders, bringing all sorts of people into the company!"
Clara paused and looked back at her.
Anna nodded toward Stacy's office, where another group of people was coming and going.
If she remembered correctly, this was the fifth group of clients Stacy had met with that afternoon.
It seemed she hadn't forgotten the grudge over the stolen orders.
Clara smiled lightly and was about to continue with her plan when she heard Stacy calling from her office doorway, "Clara, come in here!"
