Chapter 46 Where Is Tonight's Banquet?
For the past few days, the project had made no progress, and Clara Bennett and Anna couldn't even get through the gates of the White Group.
Anna was disheartened, sitting on the curb with a gloomy expression.
The sun was scorching the earth, making everyone feel restless and irritable.
Clara handed her a bottle of water and smiled gently. "Let's find a place to have lunch first, and then we can come back and try again in the afternoon."
"It's no use, Clara," Anna said dejectedly. "It looks like Jason Ford wasn't lying to us. The Central City market is really hard to break into. We've been here for so many days, and we haven't even seen a minor executive from the White Group, let alone Jasper!"
"I think we should just go back home..." Anna pouted. "At this rate, who knows how long it will take!"
"Don't be so pessimistic!" Clara remained optimistic. "You've been in sales for two years; you should know that deals aren't made in one go. As long as we have a slight chance to get our sales proposal in, we'll have taken a big step forward!"
"But where's the chance?"
Just as Anna finished complaining, a black luxury car slowly drove into the internal road in front of the building, and a dozen security guards immediately perked up and ran over to greet it.
A young man stepped out of the car, with the looks of a celebrity and the arrogance of a young master.
Anna recognized him as Jasper and excitedly started tapping Clara's arm.
"It's Jasper!" Anna's eyes lit up. "Wow, he's even more handsome in person than in photos, and he's so stylish... Ha, it looks like Jason Ford didn't lie to us about this!"
Clara gave her a helpless look.
She wasn't as starstruck as Anna, but this was an opportunity she couldn't miss!
If she could hand the proposal directly to Jasper, it would be more effective than hundreds of appointments.
Clara gritted her teeth and dashed forward!
However, a group of tall, burly security guards immediately blocked her path.
They were used to dealing with crazy fans trying to get close to their young master, so they assumed Clara was just another one of those girls trying to throw herself at him.
They formed a human wall, completely blocking her out.
"Guys, I have something important to discuss with Jasper..."
"Miss, everyone who comes to see our young master says that!"
"No!" Clara said urgently, her face turning red. "I have a sales proposal. It won't take up much of Jasper's time, just five minutes... three minutes would be fine. If he doesn't want to read it, I can explain it to him!"
The security guards exchanged amused glances and, with perfect coordination, lifted Clara and carried her outside the internal road. They let go, and Clara nearly fell flat on her face.
Anna rushed over to help her up and started arguing with the security guards.
"Ladies, don't try this old trick!" the security guards said, exasperated. "This routine is outdated. Can't you come up with something new?"
"These days, girls just want to marry a rich young master and climb the social ladder!
" someone sneered. "Ha, if you two really want to marry into wealth, the Harrington Family is choosing a princess consort tonight.
The banquet will be full of rich young men from Central City, and our young master will be there too. Don't miss it!"
"Can they even get in? Ha ha..."
Clara paused for a moment, then limped after them and asked, "Sir, where is tonight's banquet?"
The security guards gave her a look of disdain and mockery.
"Sterling Manor! Ha, little girl, good luck!"
Clara ignored their taunts and carefully noted down the name of the venue.
She clutched the sales proposal in her hand, and a confident, optimistic smile reappeared on her pretty face.
Jasper vaguely heard some commotion behind him and, just before entering the building, instinctively turned to look back.
That one glance froze him in place, his mind going blank.
"What... what just happened?"
"It seems those two girls wanted to see you," his assistant whispered. "But they were chased away by the security guards."
Jasper widened his eyes, a chill running down his spine, his hair standing on end.
He immediately took out his phone and called Mason Reed.
"Third Brother, Clara is in Central City. Ha, but I don't know why she came to see me... What do you think, should I meet her or not?"
