Chapter 19

Chapter

Nineteen

Konrad stirred. Warm breath brushed his bare shoulder. He opened his eyes and turned to face Wraith. The early morning sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the curtains. A ray of light fell on his face.

I’ve never woken up to someone beside me.

The realisation hit him like a war hammer. He’d never thought about it before.

At the assembly, Konrad had had no interest in anyone. During the war and the time since, he’d had sex, but nothing where the individual woke the next day in Konrad’s bed. He’d never had a serious lover. No one to spend the night with.

And now he woke to a necromancer in his bed.

Surprisingly, Konrad did not feel revulsion staring at Wraith’s sleeping form.

Anytime he’d imagined being married to a necromancer, he kept thinking of the stench of the rotting reanimated corpses he’d fought, or the blood and innards of the sacrifices, or the horrific wrongness of the dread knights he’d battled.

He’d imagined the revulsion he’d felt through those encounters being a constant through his marriage to a necromancer.

But Wraith did not elicit that response. Konrad felt no revulsion looking at him. Nor had he felt it during the sex they’d had the previous night. In fact, it had been quite the opposite.

Wraith’s dark hair lay scattered on the pillow and sheets. A few lengths fell across his face. As he exhaled, his breath stirred the strands resting against his flawless skin. Konrad’s fingers twitched with the sudden desire to stroke the hair back.

Wraith looked almost innocent in sleep. Vulnerable even. Konrad frowned. It was hard to combine his knowledge of necromancers and what they did with the man sleeping beside him. And that unsettled Konrad.

At least Wraith would go back to his room today.

That would make this whole situation easier and less complicated.

They’d consummated the marriage, and other than interacting somewhat at official events, they would not need to have much to do with each other again until they returned to the Castle of the Dragons.

Wraith mumbled something in his sleep. He had such plump, full lips. They’d been perfect for kissing. They’d no doubt be perfect for other activities too.

And Wraith had been so responsive the previous night. Konrad had been taken aback. Just thinking about the sounds Wraith made had his cock plumping up once more.

There had also been something innocent about Wraith, like he was experiencing everything for the first time. And he’d been so tight that Konrad had felt the need to ask if he’d had sex before. Wraith had said yes, but Konrad still wondered if maybe he was less experienced than he’d let on.

Still sleeping, Wraith sighed. He shuffled slightly, and the blanket fell down, revealing his bare shoulder. The skin beckoned to Konrad.

Fuck. I want to touch him and kiss him and fuck him again.

He shouldn’t want that though. He’d thought he’d have to grit his teeth through the consummation of their marriage. He hadn’t considered he might actually enjoy it. Nor could he have predicted that he’d want to do it again.

A soft sound escaped Wraith, and he opened his eyes, looking straight at Konrad.

For a second, neither spoke. Then Konrad said, “Good morning.”

“Morning,” Wraith said, voice sleep-roughened.

And because Konrad couldn’t help himself, he said, “May I touch you?”

Wraith blinked. Then he said, “Yes. You may.”

Konrad did not let himself get lost in doubts about whether or not this was a good idea, or if he was going against his own principles.

After all, he’d been the one who’d railed and ranted about being forced to marry a necromancer, and here he was, wanting to bed his necromancer husband when he didn’t need to.

He brushed Wraith’s silky hair behind his ear. Then he slid his fingers along Wraith’s jawline. Wraith sucked in a breath.

So responsive.

Konrad moved his fingers down to Wraith’s neck, along the side of it, and down to his shoulder. “May I kiss you?”

Wraith nodded, no hesitation. Konrad removed the distance between them and kissed those tempting, full lips. He cupped Wraith’s cheek. Konrad swiped his tongue across Wraith’s lower lip, and Wraith opened to him.

Wraith moaned. His arms came up and wrapped around Konrad’s neck. He pulled Konrad closer.

Soft sounds escaped Wraith as they kissed unhurriedly. Konrad slipped his tongue into Wraith’s mouth. Wraith’s arms around his neck tightened. After a moment’s hesitation, Wraith’s tongue moved against Konrad’s.

He let Konrad lead completely. Konrad could not tell if this was a preference of Wraith’s or if he was as inexperienced as Konrad suspected. Either way, Wraith seemed to be enjoying this as much as Konrad.

Beneath the sheets, their naked bodies pressed together. Konrad slid his hand down the curve of Wraith’s back. He squeezed a plump arse cheek. Wraith wiggled closer. His cock pressed against Konrad’s thigh, and it was as hard as Konrad’s.

Konrad shoved a hand between them. He wrapped it around Wraith’s length and stroked. Wraith broke the kiss with a cry. His eyes widened as Konrad’s hand slid up and down his prick.

“Does that feel good?” Konrad asked.

“Yes.” Wraith closed his eyes and tucked his head into Konrad’s neck. He rocked his hips and whimpered.

Konrad smiled and pressed kisses to his hair. Wraith’s fingers spasmed against Konrad’s back as Konrad tightened his grip on Wraith’s dick.

Wraith’s moans grew louder. Pre-cum spilled, and Konrad stroked Wraith with greater ease.

With one smooth motion, Konrad rolled Wraith onto his back and slid down his body. Chest heaving, Wraith opened his eyes and watched. Konrad nuzzled the skin where groin met stomach. He inhaled Wraith’s musky scent.

Then he wrapped his hand around the base of Wraith’s throbbing dick and leaned forward. He took the tip of Wraith’s cock into his mouth. He ran his tongue around and around the swollen head. He tongued the slit. The salty taste of Wraith’s pre-cum filled his mouth. He sucked harder.

Wraith shouted, and his hands gripped the sheets as Konrad took more and more of his length into his mouth.

“Oh!” Wraith cried out. “Gods of the beyond!”

Konrad’s cheeks hollowed. He bobbed his head up and down. He placed a hand on Wraith’s thigh and felt the muscle trembling. Konrad rocked his hips against the bed, giving his own dick some desperately needed friction.

Wraith collapsed back, tugging at the sheets, yanking them. Meanwhile, Konrad reached down and stroked himself as he continued to watch Wraith lost in his pleasure. He was so open and so desperate. It was intoxicating.

Konrad bobbed his head faster, sucked harder, and tightened his grip as he stroked himself. He felt the bliss coiling tightly in his gut.

Wraith cried out. He thrust his hips. One of his legs kicked out as if the pleasure was all too much for him. He shouted. Hot spend filled Konrad’s mouth.

Konrad greedily swallowed every drop down. He released Wraith’s dick and knelt on the bed, stroking his own prick. Wraith blinked up at him, then his gaze fixed on Konrad’s dick.

He reached out tentatively. His hand wrapped around Konrad’s as he stroked. Almost immediately, Konrad came. His orgasm tore through him as his spend splattered across Wraith’s thighs, stomach, and cock.

Wraith dropped his hand.

After a second, Konrad stumbled to his feet. He grabbed two washcloths. He’d need to ask the servants to bring more. Then he dunked them in the fresh water in the basin on the dresser. He went back to the bed and handed one to Wraith.

“How was that for you?” Konrad sat on the bed and cleaned himself.

“Good.” Wraith wiped the cloth over his stomach and cock. Then he huffed. “Sex is much better with the living.”

Konrad froze. “What do you mean?”

Wraith’s hand stilled. His eyes widened, as if he had just realised what he’d said. “I mean … well … I—”

Konrad rose and took a step away from the bed, and more importantly, from Wraith. “You’ve had sex with the dead?” He couldn’t keep the disgust from his voice. Not that he tried. “What do you do, bring them back and compel them to fuck you?”

Images of skeletons, reanimated corpses, and dread knights filled his mind. What sort of corrupted individual would fuck one? Just the thought made Konrad want to vomit.

Wraith sat up. “No! Nothing like that. But sometimes ghosts—”

“That’s repulsive. Revolting,” Konrad spat.

Wraith’s mouth snapped shut. His face shuttered. He dropped his gaze. He squeezed the cloth in his hands. Water dripped from it onto his thighs, but he didn’t bother to wipe it away.

If Konrad weren’t so horrified, he might feel bad for what he’d said and Wraith’s response. But he didn’t.

What Wraith had done was repugnant, and anyone decent would think so. Konrad would not hide how he felt to protect his deplorable husband’s feelings. If Wraith didn’t want people repulsed by him, he should not be so repulsive as to fuck ghosts.

For a second there, he’d almost felt like Wraith might be somewhat different from the other necromancers. But he was just as despicable.

You promised to treat him with respect.

Taking a deep breath, Konrad crossed to his dresser and opened the door, deliberately not looking at Wraith. He closed his eyes and tried to compose himself. “I should dress and start the day. I have matters to attend to.”

Hopefully, whilst he was out, Wraith would return to his own rooms and not come back. Then Konrad would not have to deal with any more necromancer vileness.

Wraith rose from the bed and began to dress in his clothes from the day before. Although, he did not put on his cape with the feathers, and he left his hair loose and free of the bone pins. Instead he just left the cape and pins where they were.

Konrad approached the door. Wraith followed, and they left the room together.

Silently, they strode down the corridor, Konrad’s guards following. An older servant approached.

“Your Majesties.” The servant bowed.

Konrad came to a stop. So did Wraith.

“Yes, Martin?” Konrad said, trying to keep his voice neutral.

“The king consort’s belongings have arrived. Do you wish us to bring them into your room and unpack them today?” the servant asked.

“My belongings have arrived? Here?” Wraith clearly had not expected this either.

“They arrived late last night. We did not wish to disturb you so have placed them in a closet for now,” Martin said.

“I see.” Wraith clasped his hands tightly in front of himself.

Konrad’s mind raced. Unfortunately there were no spare rooms in their quarters. They’d moved to smaller rooms after the attack in their old ones. Which meant unless Konrad could think of something else, Wraith would be staying in his room.

He tried to think of a solution but couldn’t. Reluctantly he said, “You can bring them into my room.”

It seemed he wouldn’t be getting rid of Wraith so easily.
