Epilogue

SUMMER

SIX MONTHS LATER …

Enjoying the day in bed, I stretch like a cat, a smile on my face. When the door bursts open, I don’t even need to raise my head to know it’s Mase delivering our little bundles to my side because it’s become somewhat of a morning routine.

He wakes with the babies, changes them, then brings them in to be fed. They’re five weeks old now, and Mase is constantly on the go with them while I recover from childbirth.

Tatum Finn Campbell was born first, weighing six pounds two ounces, followed by his sister, Avery Gianna Campbell, weighing four pounds six ounces.

Their names are a nod to our little family and the people we treasure.

Both are healthy, with a small flurry of blond hair on their little heads that make me believe they will take after me.

Their bright ocean-colored eyes are the perfect combination of mine and their daddy’s.

“They’re ready to feed, Momma,” Mase declares, walking around the bed, and I delight in the stretch of his T-shirt over his chest.

Jesus, he looks hot with a baby cradled in each arm.

I sit up and place a pillow on each side of me, then hold out my arms for Mase to rest the babies down against them.

Straight away, my gaze latches onto their little outfits, both in white rompers; Tatum’s reads “Marry” in blue, and Avery’s reads “Me” in pink.

My breath hitches, and I turn my teary gaze away from the twins to compose myself, only to witness Mase lowering to his knees, his eyes shimmering much like my own.

“You’re my world, holding my world, Summer Campbell. I promise to love you for an eternity. I promise to keep your heart safe in this life and the next. I love you, sweet girl. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

This man, the very same who declared he would never marry again, is on bended knee, promising me the world without realizing he already has it.

He holds the ring out from his necklace, his mom’s ring, and my eyes sting at the significance behind it.

“Yes,” I rasp, and emotion clogs my throat.

His hand wraps around my neck, and he pulls me in for a kiss.

A promise of our new beginning.
