12. Valentina #2

I reach for Moreno’s belt. “Condom.”

Taking off our clothes happens quickly and then I’m watching Moreno as he puts one on and lies back when I tell him to. With my bad foot supported along the mattress, I lower myself onto his cock. The stretch makes me stop halfway.

Moreno stops too. “Still want it?”

“Yes. Don’t move.”

I take Moreno the rest of the way at my own pace and begin rocking once the stretch settles. Max’s fingers find my clit while Calder kisses me, and Moreno leaves his hands open on my thighs until I place one at my hip.

Calder’s mouth moves from mine to my throat and stops short of the healing bruises above my collarbone. He leaves them alone and asks nothing about their origin. I turn my face and give him more access to the uninjured skin.

“Harder.”

He thrusts up with the rougher force I asked for, changing nothing else without permission. Max slows when I tell him to, then returns to the pressure that keeps building until my muscles tighten around Moreno.

“Don’t stop.”

Max does not. I come with one hand fisted in Calder’s shoulder and Moreno deep inside me, pleasure tightening through my abdomen before leaving me weak enough to fold forward. Moreno waits until I recover, then asks if I want more.

“Yes.”

I resume moving. His control breaks quietly after several harder thrusts, fingers digging into the hip where I placed them, and he comes inside the condom. Max takes his place next.

He sits against the headboard while I straddle him at an angle that keeps my injured leg along the mattress. He enters slowly and stops when soreness makes me wince.

“Too much?”

“Give me a second.”

He waits. Then I ride him.

His hands slide over my waist and ass, helping me balance without controlling pace.

I brace one palm against the headboard and keep the injured foot extended, letting my good knee do the work.

When my thigh starts to burn, Max notices before I say anything and shifts lower against the pillows so I can move with less strain.

“Better?” he asks.

“Yes.”

“See? I can be useful without being charming.”

“Debatable.”

Sex with Max still contains laughter, and the care under it never disappears. He talks until pleasure breaks his sentences, notices when I stop joking, and lets the quiet stay until I pull Calder’s wrist toward my clit.

“You feel good,” Max says.

“That line lacked imagination.”

“I’m busy.”

“Do better.”

“You’re bossy naked.”

“I’m bossy dressed.”

“True.”

I change the angle and his answer becomes a curse. He comes before I do, hips lifting once before he forces them still to protect my foot. I stay over him until his body relaxes, then climb off. Calder reaches for the last condom.

I take it from him. “You’re still controlling the distance.”

“I am standing within touching range.”

“You know what I mean.”

“Yes.”

“Then stop.”

“Tell me what stopping looks like.”

I roll the condom onto him myself. “Trusting me to want you without managing the reason.”

“That is convenient from a woman who ran out a window.”

“Still want to fuck me?”

“Yes.”

“Then we can fight after.”

Calder lets the unfinished argument stay unfinished and moves onto the bed behind me. I turn onto my good side with the injured leg supported forward. He enters slowly, letting me control the first movement, and his hand settles above my pubic bone.

“Clit,” I tell him.

Calder follows the instruction immediately. I push back into him once to set the pressure I want.

Moreno stays in front of me for the kiss while I push back into Calder and set the rhythm. Max’s hand moves along my back until I say, “Take over,” and Calder answers by changing the pace behind me.

Calder’s hand settles at my hip while the other works between my legs, and his thrusts deepen without jarring my foot. He checks the position once. I tell him it still works and warn him not to make me repeat myself.

Calder’s quiet laugh brushes my shoulder, unfamiliar enough that I reach back and catch his hair. The men make room whenever I shift, letting me keep track of every hand and body while I continue pushing back into Calder.

My second orgasm builds slower and lasts longer, thighs tightening around his hand while he keeps the same pace through it. Only after I can speak do I tell him, “Now.”

His next thrusts loose precision. He comes inside the condom with his face against my shoulder, then stops completely.

Conversation drops away while the air conditioner rattles and a truck passes on the highway. My body is pleasantly wrecked in several places and genuinely unhappy in one, and silence is useful while I sort which ache belongs where.

Water appears within reach, and I finish half the bottle before anyone asks another question. I hold out a hand when I need help sitting, then clean myself with the washcloth left beside me while the used condoms disappear into the bathroom trash.

Soreness settles in once adrenaline stops covering it. My foot throbs beneath the fresh wrap, and my thighs carry the heavier fatigue from everything else. When I adjust the injured leg, another pillow appears beneath my calf without comment.

I stay stretched out with open space along both sides of me. When I reach for Moreno’s hand, he gives it to me without pulling me anywhere. When Calder lifts the motel condom box, the bottom panel bends in his hand.

“What?” I ask.

The cardboard is warped with old water damage, and one remaining foil packet is tacky along the seal. The expiration date is eight months past.

Max looks toward the trash. “That’s not ideal.”

All three condoms came from the same damaged box, even though none visibly slipped or tore. The possibility stays on the bed with us when I say we will deal with it later.

“We’ll deal with it,” I say.

Calder starts to answer until my raised hand stops him. I claim the next decision before he can organize it for me.

“Not tonight. My body has had enough urgent decisions.”

“Fine.”

Max hands me a pastry. “Medical dessert.”

“Not a category.”

“It is now.”

I eat half the pastry despite mocking the category. Once I’m dressed and my foot is rewrapped, Calder returns to the reason all of us are here. “The ledger.”

I retrieve one folded photocopy from the inner seam of my jacket. The remaining pages are still concealed where I left them, beyond anyone else’s reach. I place the page on the table.

Calder reaches for it, then stops. “This is all?”

“For tonight.”

The page carries a shell-company name, a storage-row number, a marina payment, and a handwritten purge mark. Moreno reads it over Calder’s shoulder. “Marina.”

“This mark means the cache is scheduled to disappear,” I say. “Before noon if the surviving people are moving as fast as I expect.”

Max looks at me. “And the rest?”

“Mine until I decide otherwise.”

The pouch stays untouched against my side while the single page lies on the table. Calder limits himself to what I handed him, and we stay awake with the argument unresolved while the rest of us occupy whatever corners of the motel room feel least intrusive. I keep the unlocked door closest.

Max says, “Stop running long enough to decide what you actually want.”

“I decided what I wanted an hour ago.”

“You know that isn’t what I mean.”

Moreno says, “If you leave, we follow.”

“That sounds threatening.”

“It is information.”

Calder taps the ledger page once. “I want the rest of this. I am not asking for surrender.”

The rest of the cache stays with me while Calder bends over the page I chose to share. I remain closest to the unlocked door as the room settles into watchful quiet.
