28. Valentina #2

He starts slowly, then follows when I tell him to increase the pace. His mouth stays close to mine, but he doesn’t fill the movement with commentary. When I reach for Moreno, Moreno gives me his hand. I place it over my breast and keep it there while Calder kisses the side of my neck.

Max says, “Still good?”

“Yes. Deeper.”

He changes the angle by lifting my right thigh, careful to leave the left leg where I placed it. The next thrust reaches deeper.

“There.”

He repeats it.

I don’t come again, and I don’t need to. The pleasure stays physical and warm while Max loses precision, then warns me he’s close.

“Come.”

He comes with his face buried against my shoulder, one hand gripping the sheet beside my head. When he pulls out, he kisses my forehead before he can apparently remember that tenderness makes him vulnerable to mockery.

I catch the back of his neck before he retreats. “Don’t take it back.”

“I wasn’t.”

“You were thinking about it.”

“Emotionally observant at me,” he mutters.

“Terrible, is it not?”

“Awful.”

Calder disposes of the water bottle cap I dropped and waits until Max finishes dealing with the condom. Then his attention settles on me.

I hold out my hand. “Your turn to stop overthinking.”

“I’m not overthinking.”

All three of us look at him.

Calder says, “Fine.”

I laugh and pull him onto the bed.

He checks the condom himself, rolls it on, and then lets me choose the position.

I turn onto my side facing Max, with Calder behind me and my injured foot supported on a pillow.

Moreno stretches out in front of us near the foot of the bed, close enough that I can touch him without creating a tangle of limbs.

Calder’s hand settles on my hip. “Tell me.”

“I want you inside me. Slow first. Your hand on my clit when I ask.”

He enters from behind, careful until my body accepts him. The position is too close to the motel memory for half a second: injured foot, Calder behind me, three men around me. Then I reach back and take his hand because this night belongs to different terms.

“Now,” I say.

He begins moving.

Max kisses me while Calder thrusts with the steady control that used to make me want to provoke him for sport. It still does. I push back harder, forcing him to adjust.

“You can stop treating me as breakable,” I tell him.

“I’m treating you as sore.”

“Fair.”

“That sounded painful for you to say.”

“Don’t become Max.”

From in front of me, Max says, “Impossible. There’s only one me.”

Moreno puts a hand over Max’s mouth. “Helpful.”

I laugh hard enough to disrupt Calder’s rhythm. He waits until I settle, then resumes.

“Clit,” I tell him.

His hand slides between my legs. He finds the pressure quickly, but adjusts when I move his fingers lower. The sensation builds slowly because my body has already had enough for one night. I tell him when to stop trying to make me come and just move.

“Understood.”

That obedience matters more than another orgasm.

Calder’s pace roughens only after I ask. I feel the point where his control becomes effort. I reach back, catch his hair, and pull just enough to make him curse.

“There,” I say. “That’s the man I wanted at breakfast six years ago.”

“He had better judgment.”

“He was boring.”

“He wanted you in his lap.”

“Also true.”

His next thrust breaks the conversation. I keep pushing back until he warns me he’s close. I tell him not to stop. He comes inside the condom and then holds still behind me, his hand staying where I placed it until I remove it myself.

For several minutes the room contains only practical aftermath.

Condoms go into the trash. Max brings water.

Moreno checks the red mark at my hip where his hand held me and asks whether it hurts; I tell him no.

Calder gives me the washcloth instead of cleaning me himself.

I use it, then pull on a T-shirt and climb back onto the bed while the men find enough clothing to keep the room from becoming ridiculous.

My pistol remains on the bedside table.

The bedroom door remains closed, but unlocked.

More important, the exterior door at the end of the hall is still unlocked. I can hear it when Max goes to check the coffee machine and opens the front door instead, letting desert night air move through the safehouse for several seconds before he closes it without setting the secondary lock.

When he returns, I say, “Show-off.”

“Demonstration.”

Calder sits against the headboard. Moreno takes the side nearest the floor instead of trapping me against the wall. Max lies across the foot of the bed until I kick him twice and make him move.

“Nobody asks me for forever tonight,” I say.

Calder answers first. “Agreed.”

“I’m going to Miami.”

Max’s face changes, but he keeps the reaction under control instead of turning it into celebration. “All right.”

“I said I’m going. I didn’t say I’m joining the club.”

Moreno says, “We heard you.”

“I want a separate room when we get there.”

“We will arrange it,” Calder says.

“And if I wake up in the middle of the night wanting distance, I’ll tell you before I turn it into an escape plan.”

Max’s hand settles near my ankle without touching. “That’s the deal.”

“In return, none of you quietly rebuilds this safehouse around me in Miami.”

Calder says, “No guards because we’re afraid.”

Moreno adds, “No locked doors you can’t open.”

Max says, “No surprise captivity disguised as excellent hospitality.”

“That phrase should get you punched.”

“Probably.”

I lie down in the middle only because I choose the middle. Calder turns off the lamp. Moreno leaves enough space along my side that I can get out without climbing over him. Max stops talking within five minutes, which may be the most convincing evidence that he’s exhausted.

I stay awake longer than all three.

The safehouse still has reinforced windows, cameras, secure gates, and rooms built for people someone wants to kill.

None of those things disappear because we signed a page or had sex.

The difference is practical enough to verify: my weapons are beside me, my documents are in my bag, my phone belongs to me, and the exterior door opens from either side.

When sleep finally comes, the door remains unlocked.
