Chapter 5

S urveillance was an absolute bitch when you had to do it with someone who didn’t fucking like you. Flipping the ball cap around backwards, I got as comfortable as I possibly could on the roof across from Genki.

From just some of the intel that had been gathered over the last few years, I knew this was a popular Ito family location to hang out and do business transactions. That, however, was all that had been said.

Pointing the camera and the extended lens, something buzzed in my ear, and I knew it was Jason fucking around on the mic system.

“What are you doing?” My question was pointed.

Mentally, I knew he was rolling his eyes, but he responded. “My legs are getting cramped, have you seen anything yet?”

Jason was literally sitting in the SUV parked down the street, while I did the heavy ass lifting. I’d been on this rooftop for well over three hours waiting and taking pictures. A few associates had entered but that’d been just about it.

“Not yet,” I replied.

Ducking my head down, I took a sip of water. My mouth had gone dry and the water tasted good as it slid down my throat. Surprisingly, I hadn’t needed to pee.

“Heads up,” Jason said on the mic.

“What?”

“Three cars approaching from the west side,” he replied, and I guessed he could see from his vantage point.

Maneuvering the camera around, my palms started to sting from hints of sweat I concentrated. Through the lens, I tracked the car. They were black Audi’s, sleek and shiny pulling up onto the scene.

My finger hit the shutter button in rapid succession trying not to miss a moment. The first car, I watched as the crime family’s bodyguards and hit men stepped out. Some were big and burly, tatted and dressed in suits. It was the same with the last car. The middle car though, that was where the action was. Those were the people I wanted to see.

Surprisingly, it was just a car full of women.

“Party girls,” I whispered to myself.

My finger hit the shutter button again, as woman after woman stepped out. That was when I saw her. Rain had stepped out of the car, sticking out not only because of her height but her skin color too. She was a rich brown compared to that of the snowy white skin of the Japanese women whose company she was keeping.

My breath hitched in my throat.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” I wondered out loud.

I couldn’t take my eyes off her or the others.

The shutter button threatened to break under the pressure of my finger. She was the center of the photographs until finally she dipped inside with her arms laced with Ken Ito’s daughter, Cassie.

How did you not know this?

The question hung inside of my head until Jason started talking over the coms again.

“What, I missed that?”

I heard him sigh, “Did you get anything?”

It took a moment before I replied. “Mostly it was Ito’s daughter and her posse going inside to eat.”

“I think we should call it, come back tomorrow.”

Agreeing, I slowly packed up my supplies as not to draw attention to myself. When I was done, I walked over to the rooftop entrance and headed back downstairs. When I reached the bottom, I turned the cap around, and adjusted the backpack on my shoulders. With the cap pulled low, I didn’t even dare to glance in the direction of the restaurant. When I was further down the street, Jason pulled over and picked me up.

“We sat out here for hours, what’d you get?” He adjusted the radio station.

“Not much,” I shook my head.

We were nearly at my apartment when I finally broached the subject of his sister.

“Does Jessica know that we’re on this assignment together?”

Jason’s head snapped in my direction, a scowl on his face. “Why in the fuck would I tell her that?”

“I don’t know,” I took a deep breath. “I just wondered.”

I watched my ex-best friend flex his fingers on the steering wheel. The vehicle had come to a stop in traffic, and we waited for the light to change. Jason was trying to control his breathing and finally he took a swallow and a deep breath, his Adam’s apple giving a bob before traffic started up again.

“Don’t worry about my sister,” he murmured. “She is happy and most of all she is no longer married to you.”

The rest of the drive was made in silence. I was happy to watch buildings and people out of the passenger side window. When it was time for me to exit, I didn’t say so much as a goodbye.

He drove off and I let out a sigh of relief as I finally entered my apartment and jogged up the stairs.

After a long shower, I sat down on my couch and cracked open my laptop. Placing the memory card from the camera into the slot, I waited as the large picture files took their slow sweet time before moving over.

As I waited, I grabbed a beer and checked my cellphone. My brother Mason had sent a message to the group chat.

I’m home , it read.

Bout fucking time , Cody had responded. He was younger than us, along with Asher. The two of them were down in Florida going to school and pretending to be normal. Trying to stay out of our father’s shit storms concerning his arms dealings.

Cracking the top off a beer I shot a text off. When are we meeting up?

Me and Nora were thinking about hitting up Noir tonight, he replied.

I’m out of the state but I’m glad you’re home brother, Carmine replied.

Oh, and what are you doing out of the state?

Seeing a girl , Carmine replied.

I shook my head. If there was one thing my brothers were going to do, it was going to be getting themselves some pussy. Carmine and Mason shared a common trait of being assassins whereas I had opted for becoming an FBI agent.

My life just seemed so much more stable and yet, I was the only one who was divorced.

Sure wish I was home to come out, but maybe soon , Asher finally came into group.

No , Mason shot back. Both you and Cody are where you should be. Do the school thing and keep your heads down.

That’s no fun , Cody replied.

Neither is having a psychopath like Augustus for a father , Mason replied, and we all felt the sting of his words.

I wanted to change the mood of the thread before it got to upsetting. I’m down to meet you at Noir.

Awesome, Nora’s sister is joining us as well.

My pulse quickened but I simply replied, Sounds good .

Taking my beer, I sat back down on my leather couch that I often spent the night on. The photos had finished copying by that time.

Moving the laptop’s mouse around on the screen I began to work my way through the photos. The photos were sharp and clear despite the distance at which they’d been taken. Finally, I found myself at the photos of Rain exiting the car.

She had an odd effect on me.

She made me nervous when much didn’t.

Just the mention of this woman who wouldn’t give me the time of day had my pulse racing, just as it was going now.

Before I knew it, my hardened dick was out and in my hand. Staring down at the tip of my dick where the piercing sat, I flicked my thumb over the top. A shudder ran its way down my spine at the movement, and slowly I began to jerk my cut dick, occasionally hitting the tip made sensitive by the metal running through it.

Just a photo of Rain had me hard, wanting to use her holes for relief.

She’d never let me get that fucking close to her. I imagined her on this very couch beside me, legs splayed as she played with her pussy. I imagined how wet she’d be, so wet that she was making puddles on the leather. My tongue could already taste her…

I whimpered just a little bit before my climax began to build, hitting a crest. A buzzing feeling stirred at the base of my neck and then it happened.

Thick ropes of white hot cum sprayed across the laptop in front of me.

“Fuck, that’s government issue!” I didn’t even give myself time to enjoy the remnants of my orgasm.

I was leaping up, pants around my ankles and waddling for some paper towels.

Disgust settled into my stomach as I cleaned up my mess, and finally shut the laptop back down. By then Mason had sent the time and I realized I had around an hour to spare.

A hot shower and forty-five minutes later, I was heading out dressed in a casual black shirt and slacks. The drive to Noir didn’t take too long, traffic was light.

I parked in the extra parking lot behind the bar. Checking my appearance in the mirror, I noted that I needed to go see my barber soon as my hair was looking a little shaggy.

Fiddling in the console of my car, I found a few sticks of gum. Popping a piece into my mouth, I grabbed my wallet and pocketed the rest.

Coming out of the back lot and rounding the corner, my breath caught in my throat as I found Rain sitting on a bench in front of the bar.

She was staring up into the sky, her head tilted, still dressed in the outfit I’d photographed her in earlier. I approached her with caution, afraid I’d scare her off.

My footsteps became cautious on the dirty pavement of Seattle as I strode up to her. Her head turned in my direction, an eyebrow raised. She never said anything and finally I sat down on the bench beside her.

Plenty of people walked by, and cars and trucks rumbled along the street. Still, we never said a word. A long moment passed, intent on letting her do any talking.

“I didn’t know Nora and Mason were going to invite you,” she said finally.

“Should I leave?”

We locked eyes then.

“I mean, if you’d just tell me what I’ve done to wrong you. Maybe I could fix it or say sorry or something?”

I watched as Rain ran her hands over the green pleated skirt she wore, making me wish I was the piece of fabric. Finally, she shook her head.

“You haven’t done anything, Agent Zacharra,” her voice seemed to offer a tremble. “But I do wish you wouldn’t look at me like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like you want me,” her voice sounded hoarse.

A cough escaped from my lips. “I don’t want to lie to you, Rain. We’re adults. But I also understand that I don’t have a chance. All I have are looks.”

She wrinkled up her nose then and I couldn’t help but grin.

“Thank God, here come Mason and Nora.” She stood up quickly, nearly tripping in her movements to greet our siblings and a sense relief washed over me.

The conversation would have started to get entirely too heavy.

A breath entered into my lungs, my senses kind of buzzing at the fact that my brother was near. After hugging everyone we ventured inside of the bar that wasn’t as crowded as it had been the last time I’d been here.

We found a table near the pool tables and immediately, I pulled my brother into a game of pool. I needed the distraction because I was moments away from going into the bathroom of and whipping out my dick once again with thoughts of Rain.

Find someone else to fuck tonight.

It’d been a long time since I’d taken a woman home and if I couldn’t have the one that I wanted, the one that wouldn’t make eye contact with me, then another warm body would simply have to do.
