Epilogue One
~Maverick~
The sun is shining in the clear blue sky and the weather is a beautiful sixty-five degrees.
All in all, it’s the perfect day for a wedding, but even if it were storming out, it would still be perfect because any day is the perfect day to marry the woman I love.
Violet agreeing to marry me made me the happiest man alive, and I’m about to be even happier as we make that promise a reality.
Right now, I’m standing under a flower arch on top of the same small hill I proposed on just last week.
I can’t believe that the ladies of the house were able to throw together such a beautiful looking wedding so quickly, but as Violet told me yesterday, “never underestimate your family’s ability to want you to be less of a grump.
” I know she was just sassing me, but I still went after her for the comment.
If the way she screamed my name as she came was any indication though, she didn’t mind her punishment one bit.
As it happens, I have been much less grumpy lately, and that is definitely all Violet and just how completely happy she makes me.
It might seem fast to anyone else, but I knew the moment I read her first message that she was the one for me, and now we get to make it official.
If only she would get to the altar that is.
“Do you know what the holdup is?” I ask my brother, Sawyer who is standing next to me wearing a suit with an unfortunate spit up stain from his little one.
He shrugs a shoulder and bounces his little boy against his chest. “Brooks mentioned that Lacey’s morning sickness has been acting up, and I know she wouldn’t want to miss the ceremony.”
“Ah,” I say dumbly, nodding my head. Hopefully that’s Violet soon.
Not the morning sickness part, but the pregnant part.
Lord knows we’ve been doing our best to make it happen.
I’ve been pumping my seed into her every chance I get, sometimes as much as four times a day.
It’s any wonder how I get any work done or how Violet managed to find a job teaching yoga at the senior center.
She starts next week after our weekend honeymoon to St. Louis to go get all of her things and move her in with the rest of us.
The homestead is starting to get a little crowded, but we all love living together.
The lack of space in the house is a problem for another day, right now I need my fiancée to get out here so I can marry her.
Finally, I see Brooks helping Lacey into her seat.
They both shoot me an apologetic look, but I wave it off.
I’ve waited this long for my girl, so another minute or two is no big deal.
Music starts up next to me and my eyes shoot to the end of the makeshift aisle just as Violet crests the hill.
She’s wearing a gorgeous white dress that hugs each and every curve so beautifully that I almost feel like skipping out on the ceremony and go straight to the honeymoon portion.
I won’t though because the need to tie this woman to me forever is too strong.
I need her with me every day for the rest of my life.
Finally, my beautiful little flower appears next to me, her eyes raking up and down my suit, and I can tell she’s thinking the same thing I was moment’s ago.
Taking her hand in mine, I kiss the back of it and turn us to Sawyer who is acting as officiant. “You ready to do this?” I ask my woman.
Violet smiles sweetly. “I was born ready, cowboy,” she says with a wink.
After vows are spoken, the food and drinks flow freely and we dance the night away with family and friends.
I spin Violet in my arms and pull her close.
I used to hate dancing, but not anymore.
Having Violet in my arms makes everything better.
“I love you, Mrs. Landry,” I say, just before I brush my lips against hers.
“And I love you, Mr. Landry.” Violet leans up and kisses my cheek. I know her kisses won’t heal my scars, but it sure feels like they have. Being with Violet has healed me in ways I didn’t even know I needed, and I’m so excited for the future we’re going to build together.
