CHAPTER 12

Maverick

I didn’t give anyone a chance to question me about Kaya when I got back to the clubhouse last night.

I walked through once to grab a beer and then went out to the garage.

Kaya’s friends watched me, giving me knowing glances, but I ignored them.

I also didn’t want to run into Jessica, so I spent the rest of the night in the garage getting the tools in order.

I swept the floor and straightened the place up.

It’s a small garage used for our own bikes and to get away from the clubhouse.

The women don’t usually go out there so it’s the one area that’s just guys.

Though last night, it was only me, which was what I wanted.

I hung out until around midnight before heading to bed.

I’m not ashamed to admit that the first thing I did this morning was to jerk off to thoughts of Kaya’s hot little body on that damn sink.

She is a wet fucking dream. After last night it seems like she may actually be caving to the idea of us being something.

I don’t know what it is myself yet, but it’s definitely something.

I slip on boots and head out to the kitchen for some coffee. As soon as I hit the common room, Shade lifts his chin to me. “Church in ten,” he mumbles before walking off.

I push the kitchen door open, praying not to see Jessica, but hope springs eternal and all that, because there she is, sitting with Jana of all people.

That can’t be good. I keep my eyes straight ahead and move to the coffee station.

Lexi and the other girls are here too, so I don’t expect any issues.

“Good morning, Mav,” Jana sings.

I say nothing. I’m not trying to be rude, but engaging with this girl just gives her fuel to keep pushing. I grab a cup and fill it. I turn to Lexi and Hannah. “Morning.”

They both smile. “Good morning.”

“But I don’t get a good morning?” Jessica asks.

I start back to the door. “If I wanted you to have one, I would have said so.”

I return to the common room without another word. Fuck her. I still can’t believe she had the audacity to show up here. That takes some real balls to travel across five states to a place you’ve never been and expect someone you haven’t seen in years to just take you in. I shake my head.

Ace approaches with his own mug of coffee in hand. He gives my back a slap. “You doing ok, son?”

“I want her gone.” I say simply.

Ace frowns. “I know. We’re gonna see what we can do to help her and then get her on her way.”

“We don’t need to help her. She’s twenty-seven fucking years old, not a damn child.”

Ace takes a sip of coffee. “I understand, but I also don’t feel too good about throwing a woman out on her ass with nothing, especially one a brother asked me to help.”

“Phoenix,” I mutter.

“He doesn’t want her there, but he also doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her. Seems to have a soft spot for her.”

“He does.”

“Well, we’ll do what we can. Maybe get her set up with a job, find her an apartment, and send her on her way. A few weeks, tops.”

I huff. This can’t be fucking happening. “Maybe I’ll find someplace to go then.” I meet his eyes. “I can’t be here with her.”

Ace shakes his head. “I can’t have a brother leaving because of a woman. You are a member here, not her. If it’s that bad, we’ll figure something else out.”

“I don’t trust her skinny ass as far as I can throw her. I’ve already told her to stay the fuck away from me, and she doesn’t. She just keeps trying to put her hands on me, like I would ever go there.”

“You never did?” Ace asks with a raised brow.

“Fuck no. Never.”

Ace nods. “Let’s get to church.”

With everyone seated, Ace bangs the gavel.

“Alright. Got an update on Bishop and it’s not good news. He reached out to a friend who’s a member of the Ravens Reapers MC.”

“What the fuck? You’ve got to be kidding me!” Dom yells, his fist landing on the table.

Ace shakes his head. “Apparently, the guy picked him up in Easton and drove him down to Philly.”

Shade leans down to pet his dog, Gus. “So, is he with them now?”

Deuce shrugs. “We don’t know yet. Cipher’s watching the area and working on getting into their system. The Ravens are big though. Dangerous. Messing with them might not be the smartest play.”

“Leaving Bishop alone is?” Grayson asks.

“The bottom line is that right now, we aren’t sure.

If they patch him in, that’s a big enemy we don’t want.

We also have the D’Amatos to think about.

Vincent still wants Bishop. I have no idea what, if any pull he has with the Ravens.

All of this is exactly why I fought so long about contacting them.

Now, we’re on the same side, and I’m going to have to reach out to let him know what’s going on. ”

The table is quiet. I don’t really know Bishop or the complete history with his club, Bad Blood, but I do know he was a sick bastard.

We watched him take out a prospect, a damn kid, that acted out of turn.

It was a mistake, but not one the kid should have died for.

Beyond that, I know Bishop was once a member of Carnage back when the original members ran it.

There was some kind of fight when the president and VP were killed and Ace and Deuce took over, but I don’t know all the details.

“So, what now?” Riker asks. “And what about Ty?”

Ace sighs. “Ty is fine where he is, but if he wants to come back, we’ll figure it out.

Otherwise, we need to be patient. We have enough of our own shit going on to spend all our energy on Bishop when he’s more than two hours away.

We’ll be listening and watching, but our focus needs to be on our own house.

Ratchet is still gone and now Bunker is gone too.

We’re down two members until they get back, which will hopefully be soon.

The garage is behind and the Petal’s revamps are moving slower than they should be.

On top of that we have a run on Tuesday.

Brennan has a big shipment for us which will be a nice payday.

But we also have to move it all. Warner is in for his usual and said he could take some extra depending on what’s there. ”

Deuce lights a smoke and takes a deep drag. “And now for the fun stuff. We have another round of girls scheduled to come in on Thursday.”

Hoots and hollers come from the table, lifting everyone’s mood a bit. Nothing takes a man’s mind off trouble than the prospect of tits and pussy.

Ace grins. “I’d like all of you there so we can get a good idea of who puts on the best show. Majority rules.”

“How many more we looking for?” Tank asks.

“At least four, but we’ll consider five if there are standouts.” Deuce answers.

“Damn! I can’t fucking wait until it’s up and running.” Flip says.

“Seriously bro, I feel like we’ve been waiting forever. It’s going to be epic.” Dom leans back in his chair with a wide grin.

Deuce jams his finger into the table. “Remember the rules, ya fucking heathens. The dancers aren’t there as your personal playthings.

They’re Carnage staff which means, they aren’t club bunnies and they aren’t club whores.

We can’t have them running off and quitting because one of you fuckers broke their heart. ”

The guys laugh.

“Come on pop! That’s like sticking a fat guy at a buffet and telling him not to eat!” Leo jokes.

“You especially! Keep your dick in your pants, son.” Deuce says in a joking tone.

Gus barks. Shade pets him. Ace turns his attention to the big dog, who is very well behaved. He’s a grey Mastiff who is as gentle as they come. Ace puts a hand out and calls Gus over. Gus goes to him and gives him a big lick. Ace pats his head.

Rebel turns to Shade. “Where’s Howie?”

“Home with the rest of the pack.” Shade mumbles.

And pack is right. Last I heard, the man has seven dogs.

Sometimes he brings two or three with him, other times it’s just one of the larger ones, like Gus.

But everyone tends to like Howie. He’s nuts and for some reason has a soft spot for me.

Every time he’s around he follows me wherever I go.

“Ok. That’s it for now. We’ll discuss who’s going on Tuesday’s run tomorrow.” Ace bangs the gavel.

As I rise from my seat, I see Ace moving my way, past the other brothers.

“Cipher came to me this morning and told me Kaya is stopping by.”

I furrow my brows. “Is that a problem?”

He waves me away. “Of course not. I meant he told me about her offering to help with what he does. Where you at on that?”

I shrug. “I trust her. I expect you will do your due diligence before allowing her into your systems.”

“You’re good with that?”

“Why not? If she can help out, I don’t see a problem.”

“And you and her?”

I raise a brow. “She’s mine.”

“You’ve said that. Where is she with it?”

A small smile slips. “She’s getting there.”

Ace chuckles. “Alright. Cipher’s gonna see what she can do, and we’ll go from there.”

I nod. I’m all for anything that keeps Kaya close to me.
