Chapter 20

chapter twenty

donavan

There are a few moments in your life that matter more than most, I had the privilege to be experiencing one of my biggest ones yet.

I didn’t take it lightly that I was one of the best Black golfers in the PGW.

Every time God blessed me with the opportunity to play, I did it with every muscle in my body.

As I eyed the fairway, the landing area was tight. There were leaves from a fallen tree to the left, while ripples dancing throughout the ponds from the slight breeze in the air, taunted me to my right.

The driver felt heavy in my hands; it clung to me like a child afraid to take its first step. The scoreboard read 253 for me, it was the lowest one up there, that should have taken some of the tension out of my shoulders, but it didn’t.

I could fuck this all up in a matter of minutes, the quiet murmurers of the spectators were just a tiny buzzing through my psyche. I could feel everyone’s eyes on me, judging my performance. Luckily for me, I wasn’t concerned with everyone.

Nope, just one; I wanted to do well for her. Ivory promised to give the best reward if I won. She stuck with the group that tailed me to every hole.

Turning my head slightly to drink her in, she sent me her wink of encouragement so we could end this game.

“You got this, my love,” she mouthed, my heart’s steady beat went haywire from her believing in me.

I winked at her.

“Matthews will rein in as our winner if he can manage to strike it less than three feet, the wind is playing against him but he’s been able to do it in spite of the elements.

This pressure-packed moment is not to be taken lightly, maybe it’s just been luck holding him together all these years.

I mean, he can’t be that good, can he?” The commentator said into the void, that’s exactly where I put that shitty opinion of his.

They swore it was luck this entire time, even after so many years.

I could show them better than I could tell them.

“Lord, I need this moment, man.” Mumbling to myself, I closed my eyes to surrender to the breeze swaying the grass from side to side.

I tapped my good luck charm necklace twice, just like I always did before every shot. I drew the driver back and stroked the ball. It rolled smoothly through the blades and right into the hole.

I stood there frozen for a second, until a body crashed into me, bringing everything back into perspective.

“You did it baby, you did it!” Dropping the driver, I spun Ivory around, smiling hard as the sun shined on her, highlighting all the features I’d been blessed enough to see mature over the years.

Cheers from the crowd and the commentators finally came back into focus.

“I couldn’t have done it with you.” Ivory was the one who encouraged me to play golf in the first place. None of this would have been possible without her.

If I went to jail tonight for indecent exposure, I would smile in my mug shot. Ivory was losing herself on top of me, and who was I to deny her of her own pleasure?

Item three – have sex in a public place – was one of the riskier items on the list, but you only live once, right?

“Dj, you are fucking me so good. You better not ever give someone else everything you gave to m-me.” This woman wants to have my babies, that has to be it.

The park was empty at this time, it was hard to see Ivory except for when a twinge of light from the moon reflected on her face. The jet was waiting for us, we stopped on our way to the tarmac to get this one ticked off the list.

The tree we hid behind was fucking up my back but I’ll wear the scars as a gold medal for the rest of our lives.

Feeling Ivory’s lips near my ear was killing me, the tightness from her sopping-wet pussy was louder than the cars speeding through the street.

“If you promise to love me forever, then you don’t have to worry about that. I could never be for another person who I am for you.” Ivory didn’t have to threaten me, no other person had access to me in the way she did.

I was caught up in her, “I-I love you so much.” She had gotten more comfortable with telling me how she felt.

“I love you, too, Ivory.”

Iris stood up, staring me down; she summoned me over here as soon as our flight landed.

“You look like my sister, but I know that my sister would have called me the minute Acacia’s trifling ass came up in there acting like she didn’t know you.

I had to watch it on the news, she got arrested on counts of identity fraud, forgery, larceny, and a whole bunch of other wild shit.

” My mind was still blown by the way everything played out.

Clarissa called me ten times to get every piece of information I thought I knew about our ex. We exchanged stories and all the information was mind-boggling.

They met on a dating app, and Acacia lived in a town in California.

She was ready to move in with Clarissa, who refused to do so before the wedding.

Clarissa gave Acacia access to her banking account, and they put a loan down on a home.

All the money came mainly from Clarissa, though it was crazy the person she pretended to be with her.

But, once the truth came out and they revealed how far this scheme went, it made sense in a way.

Acacia was a product of bad decision after bad decision.

I felt sorry for me and everyone else that got hurt by them.

I’m just happy that chapter of my life is closed for good.

“I’m sorry, sissy; I have been busy falling in love with my best friend. He asked me to be his girlfriend and this transition in our relationship was easier than I thought. You know I had trouble coming to terms with my complicated feelings.” She nodded, sipping on the wine.

“And how do you feel about everything now – him, your sexuality, all of it?” That was a good question that I might not have been able to answer before.

“I feel like a woman with the choice to love whoever I want. I feel like one of God’s favorites to have ended up with a person who would move earth and hell for me.

That’s how I feel; Donavan showed me that it’s okay to trust my heart, no matter who it might lead me to.

I took a chance and guess what?” Iris wiped a stray tear.

“What?”

“I got the happily ever after with some unbelievable peen attached to it, how about that for a plot twist?!”

Iris high-fived me, sloshing a bit of wine onto her white rug.

“The one we never saw coming, sis!”
