Chapter 19
Chapter Nineteen
Monty
Six Months Postpartum
The soft sounds of the newest cartoon movie plays on the TV as we all sit around in the living room area of our rental.
Across from me on one of the couches, Shiloh is curled up on Xavier, he passed out about twenty minutes into the film.
We spent the whole afternoon out at the water park, Shiloh spent the entire time switching between the giant bucket and climbing up the structure to get to the water slides.
The effects of the sun today wash over me.
My skin holds a slight tightness, telling me I may have stayed out in the heat a little longer than I should have and am gonna sport a little redness.
Which I know will earn me a scolding from my wife, but it’ll be worth it.
Stretched out with a beer in my hand, arms spread over the back of the couch, legs spread wide taking up as much of the space as possible.
Harper is curled up on the other side of Xavier.
Evie on the other side of Harper. They’re quietly talking amongst themselves.
At the dining table my parents and Josie’s parents sit with glasses of wine as they play a game of cribbage.
The quiet chatter blends in with the soft sounds that come from the tv.
Soft footsteps come from behind me and then Josie comes into my sight. She goes to take the seat next to me but I quickly grab her and pull her onto my lap. Wrapping my arm around her I scoot her closer. She lets out a soft laugh before trying to get off.
All that does is rub her ass on my cock. Holding in a groan, as my dick starts to perk up with the friction.
“Babbyy.” I slowly groan, causing her to freeze with what she’s doing. She peeks over her shoulder before her lips twitch and instead of trying to leave again. She wiggles a bit more to get comfortable. Grinding her ass against my thickening cock.
Closing my eyes I take a deep breath. I did this to myself when I pulled her onto my lap. There are way too many people in this house. She’s going to kill me.
“I should carry Shiloh to bed.” I abruptly say, attempting to movie Josie off me, but also not sport my erection in front of everyone.
Xavier looks at me, eyebrow raised. A second passes and then it’s like a lightbulb goes off in his head. “Oh don’t worry, I can do it.” He readjusts Shiloh’s sleeping form before standing up and heading down the hall. Not before shooting me a wink as he walks by.
“So what’s the plan for tomorrow?” Harper asks, bringing one leg up on the couch, getting readjusted. Leaning her elbow on the back of the couch before resting her head in her hand.
“I booked a time slot for us to check out that trampoline park that’s nearby.” Running my fingers over the bottom half of my face. Noticing the facial hair is getting a little too long for my liking. I make a mental note to shave in the morning.
“A trampoline park you say?” Evie sits up taller in her seat, her interest piqued. “Do they have a dodgeball arena?”
“Here we go…” Harper mumbles.
“Okay, now I want to know why you’re so interested in whether there’s a dodgeball arena.” Josie inquires, looking at Evie, a small smirk on her face.
“It’s nothing. I’m just undefeated when it comes to dodgeball.” She responds nonchalantly, picking invisible dust off of her tank top. There’s a layer of confidence when she talks, but I’m a competitive mother fucker, and I’ll be damned if I walk away tomorrow without the win.
“Until tomorrow.” I taunt, the side of my lip twitches before I take a pull from my beer. “Undefeated, until tomorrow.”
“Have you seen yourself?” Evie waves her hand up and down toward me. “You’re gigantic. An easy target. You won’t last a minute out there.” Raising her brow in challenge, I take the bait.
“You wanna bet?” I ask. Challenge clearly accepted, and I see Josie trying to hide her smile and failing terribly at it. I give her a squeeze before I continue, “unless, you’re too scared.”
Evie guffaws, shaking her head. “Oh, you bet your ass I want to bet. If I win…” She pauses as she tries to think of her prize. Her thumb in between in teeth as she contemplates.
“While we’re still young.” I deadpan.
“Easy old man, I’m thinking.” she quickly quips back, “if I win you have to do whatever I say for the rest of the day, you can’t say no.”
“Old man?” I scoff, “please.” Taking another swig of my beer. I think about the potential repercussions of accepting this bet. Would it be the worst thing in the world to do whatever she says? I don’t think so, but that can also be very dangerous.
“It’s okay if you’re too scared. I get it. I’m pretty intimidating.” Evie leans back against the couch, arms crossed. Which does nothing but lift her tits up and make them more enticing to look at.
“I’m not scared. You’re on there, Evie. I want the same terms. I win, you do whatever I say for the rest of the day.” I see her eyes widen slightly before she steels her expression. Josie leans back wrapping one arm around my shoulder.
“Well this just got interesting.” She says, loud enough for only the people in the living room to hear. Xavier chooses this moment to return and plops down next to Harper, wrapping his arm around her and placing a kiss on the side of her head.
He looks around, confusion on his face before he asks. “What’s going on here?”
“Evie said she’s undefeated in dodgeball.” Harper starts, pointing at Evie, before moving her finger to point at me. “Monty here says that it will only last until tomorrow, because he thinks like he can beat her.”
A smile spreads across Xavier’s face, “ah, fuck you did it now Evie. Monty is the most competitive mother fucker I know. He’s absolutely going to go balls to the wall to try and beat you.”
“Well, he’s going to be pretty disappointed when he loses and then has to do whatever I say.” She says.
“In your dreams, Evie. In your dreams.” I respond back to her.
She holds her gaze on mine, as the conversation continues around us. Josie’s hand at the back of my head, playing with my hair. With her eyes on me, paired with my wife’s touch, my body begins to thrum with need.
This feeling of potential. Something that I think Josie feels too when she’s around Evie. Like a missing piece we never knew was missing just appeared and clicked into place. She is soft, sweet, you can see the way she cares for the kids in that matter.
It’s not only with the kids though. I see the way she takes care of Josie too, and fuck if that doesn’t make my heart beat faster because Josie deserves to be taken care of.
Josie takes care of everyone that she cares about so effortlessly that she often forgets about herself.
I’ve always made sure to make that extra effort to make sure she is taken care of.
What kind of man would I be if I didn’t take care of my woman? Not a man at all.
“Are you sure, mom?” Josie’s response makes me realize that I haven’t been paying attention to what’s been going on.
“It’s no problem at all! Let us have time with the boys and you all go and enjoy a night out.” Her mom is at the kitchen sink, cleaning out the wine glasses while Herb, her husband dries them and puts them back in the cupboard.
Everyone is slowly cleaning up and getting ready to head to bed, my parents having left a couple minutes earlier. “That actually sounds pretty nice, I don’t think we’ve really had a full night out since Hayes was born.” Josie looks down at me with a soft smile on her face.
Running my hand around the side of her neck, I bring her lips down to mine for a soft kiss. “It has been awhile since I showed everyone what’s mine.” I speak low enough for only her to hear.
Her cheeks flush a light shade of pink, one of my favorite things to do is get her skin to flush. Whether we’re alone or in the grocery store. Out in public is my favorite place to make her squirm.
Josie’s parents say their goodnights and make their way to their rental. Pulling Josie back to me, I peck her once more on the lips before turning to the rest of the group. “Should we check out that taco place down the street?”
“Oh, yes tacos sound so good.” Harper moans one hand grasping Evie’s hands as she looks at her. “Tacos and Margaritas, then we could go dancing after!”
“Yes!” Evie exclaims, “can we go dancing after? I haven’t gone dancing in so long. I’m sure there’s something in the area.” Evie grabs her phone and begins typing on it.
“Dancing does sound fun.” Josie joins in.
“Yes! Okay, there’s a club called Crimson Sin that’s only a couple blocks past the taco place. They have a deal on shots tomorrow night, where they’re only two bucks.” Evie tells the room, lifting her gaze, she begins bouncing her eyebrows up playfully. “That could make for a fun night.”
“Or a terrible one…” Xavier mutters, running his hand over his mouth. “Alright, we’re going to head back and get some sleep.” Standing as Harper rises with him. We say our goodnights and everyone makes their way to their rooms.
Evie leads the way down the hallway toward our rooms. She stops in front of her door, and turns toward us.
“You better get ready to do whatever I say tomorrow. When I win I will be taking advantage of every single opportunity of control...” A mischievous smile spreads over her face before she opens her door and slips through.
“You’re in trouble.” Josie lightly chuckles as she takes my hand and continues on into our room.
“Puh-lease.” I shoot back, “there is no way she’s going to beat me. She doesn’t know the five rules to dodgeball as well as I do.” My chest puffs with confidence as we begin to get undressed for bed.
In the bathroom we work side by side to brush our teeth and do our business. I pull back the blankets and crawl into the bed, resting my back against the headboard. I watch Josie as she takes her lotion and begins rubbing it on her body.
She takes her time as she runs her hands over her soft skin, the smell of warm vanilla floats through the room. Relaxing into the headboard, my eyes following her movements.
“How are you feeling about going out tomorrow night?” I ask her, pulling the blanket back for her. Crawling in she quickly gets comfortable on her side, resting her elbow on the mattress.
“I don’t know to be honest. It’ll be nice to go out with everyone and not have to worry about the kids.” She starts, tracing her fingers along the mattress.
“But…” encouraging her to continue.
She nibbles on her lip, like she is contemplating her next words. “But, I’m also nervous.”
“What’s making you nervous, baby?” reaching forward, I grab the hand she was using to trace the sheets and intertwine our fingers.
“It’s just- fuck. I don’t know.” I squeeze her hand in encouragement, her eyes connect with mine, and I can see the slight turmoil swirling.
“I’ve been feeling this pull toward Evie, you know?
I am so thankful for her over the last six months.
She’s so good with the boys, but then we have those moments alone, when I’m in between appointments and Shiloh’s in school.
Even at the end of the day the three of us relax and sit in the living room joking around. ”
“I feel it too.” telling her what’s been in the back of my mind for a couple weeks now.
“She feels as if– I don’t know, as if she’s the missing puzzle piece almost. A piece we didn’t even realize we were missing until she was there.
It’s like the pull I’ve always felt for you.
Knowing when you enter the room, and when I get my eyes on you my breath stalls.
” I raise our joined hands together and briefly kiss them.
“We agreed that we would always be honest with each other. That if someone came into our lives that we think would fit we would talk about opening up again to that opportunity.”
Josie’s head nods along with what I’m saying. Telling me she’s thinking the same thing I am, and that’s something we’ve always been good at.
“I think it’s time we talk about it.” She starts, her eyes locking with mine. Her body language tells me what she’s thinking before she finishes her thought. “We work well because we are honest with each other. I know you’re attracted to her and I am too.”
“I think she feels the same way too.” I add, and she’s right.
Josie and I have always worked well together because we’ve never hid how we felt.
Throughout our relationship, whenever we have added someone to our home.
At the end of the day I have always picked Josie.
Anyone else we’ve let into lives to that capacity was fun, but I never saw anything more.
I always saw more with Josie.
With Evie though– I see so much more. I see the three of us working together as a team. I see her with us for all the big events. For birthdays, graduations, watching the boys grow, it’s all painted so clearly.
“I think you’re right, but I also don’t want to mess up the dynamic we have now.
This isn’t a relationship but there are still the boys to think about.
Shiloh has taken a liking to her, and Hayes is familiar with her too even despite the fact that he’s still so young.
” She rolls onto her back and stares up at the ceiling before she continues.
“I think we should see how tomorrow goes. See what happens during dinner and dancing, you know? It’ll be our moment without the kids to see if there is something there beyond our normal dynamics. ”
“Tomorrow then.” I agree, circling my arm around her midsection and pulling her towards me. A squeak leaving her as she gets readjusted.
“Yes, tomorrow.” She turns her head towards me and I lean down and press my lips to her. A hum of approval comes from her, and I place another kiss before I reach behind me and turn off the light.
Once I get comfortable and listen to the quiet surrounding us, I think about the possibilities. My eyelids begin to get heavy, and a yawn leaves me but not before I say the last thing that’s on my mind.
“At least when I win the dodge ball game, she’ll have to say yes to anything I say.” I mumble, burying my nose into her neck. I hear the soft chuckles coming from her before I drift off to sleep.
