19. Ryland #3
Makari pulled up some viral song called “My Bitch Your Bitch” where friends did a dance off, trying to prove their girls were better than the next. Shit was wild because none of them was doing a damn thing like the video I pulled up trying to figure out what the hell their drunk asses were doing.
“And your girl is pretty much the only one on beat,” he said and laughed with his eyes on his wife.
When Marlee said she wanted to try the dance, Somee got her portable speaker, turned the song up and placed her hand on it, playing it back to back until she learned the rhythm of the song.
Then they watched the video multiple times, fumbling through the moves before they were fucking them shits up trying to emulate.
“Those four bottles of wine have them all fucked up in the game.” I smirked, turning up the beer I was nursing. With them drinking wine like water, Omiri and I were being responsible.
“Nah, Kari can’t dance for shit. The only place she has rhythm is bouncing on my dick.”
“Bruh, that’s not for me to know. That’s sis and I’m not trying to have that visual in my head.” My expression twisted.
He smirked. “You better not, because we’re boys, but lines don’t need to be crossed. That’s my baby, but shit, it is what it is. Kari can’t dance.”
I turned my attention back to them and all three fell out laughing after fucking up the moves yet again, then dropped down on the sofa damn near piled on each other before Marlee was reaching for a bottle of wine, which she clumsily filled their glasses with.
“I hope that’s the last one because this is going to end badly,” I mumbled, motioning to the living room.
Omiri shook his head, grinning. “Can’t get no worse than it already is.”
“You’re right.”
“This is wild though?” He pointed to the living room with the beer he was nursing. “I guess this means no more happy endings.”
I threw my head back and laughed. “Nah, that’s dead.”
I should have been mad that he was bringing that shit up but hell, I did it.
Fucking my massage therapists wasn’t one of my smartest decisions considering I got three of them fired for throwing hands over who was going to take my appointments, but you only live once.
I just wished it hadn’t gone viral though.
“So that’s you, one hundred percent?” he asked, turning them weird ass eyes on me. All these years and I still wasn’t used to seeing them mismatched.
“Yeah, I’m chilling.”
“Chilling or serious?”
“Both. Don’t you think it’s time?” I asked.
“If you’re ready to respect what that means, then yeah, but if you’re not, nah, keep it casual. Somee is cool people. You can’t fuck that up because you’re only gonna have one shot with her. If you’re not ready to be all net, then don’t waste her time.”
“How the fuck you a QB giving me a basketball reference?”
Omiri smirked. “I’m a multifaceted type of man.”
“Bruh, shut your multifaceted ass up.”
He chuckled. “But real shit though, she’s cool people. So if you’re not ready to step behind her properly, then be clear about what y’all doing.”
I glanced at Somee. She had a lazy smile on her face, watching Makari fuck up signs, loudly trying to tell Marlee how she would help her lock down a baller so she could move to Crescent Falls too.
“I’m very clear about what we’re doing. That’s my wife in there. She’s about to carry my name and have my kids. I’m already two behind.”
“The fuck you mean two behind?”
“You got Avi and Orion. I’m trying to build a legacy too.”
Omiri chuckled, lifting his beer. “I’m just surprised she’s the one who locked you down. She’s not your type, fam.”
“You’re my family, O, so I hope like hell you’re not surprised it’s her because she’s deaf.”
“The fuck her ears got to do with anything? I’m just saying she’s down to earth, chill, and not them typical build-a-bitches you stay fucking on. I like her better than I like you. Don’t put no ignorant shit on me like that.” He grilled the fuck out of me like he was ready to swing.
“My bad.”
“Yeah, your fucking bad, fam, but I get it. I don’t play about Kari even a little bit, and if you’re in this like you say you are, then I know you don’t play about yours either. I’ma let you slide with that.”
I chuckled and tossed my chin. “She’s different though.
I can’t explain why it works but I feel it.
That’s my future right there. It couldn’t be anyone but her and seeing how she’s been holding me down through all this bullshit I’m dealing with only further confirms everything I’ve been feeling. She ain’t never fucking leaving.”
Omiri grinned lazily. “She know that?”
“Yeah, she knows.”
“Aight then.” He tipped his beer to me and I did the same. “Congrats on your grown man shit. Never thought I’d see the day but here we are. Now what’s the deal with your dad?”
“There is no deal. I need him to sign over his parental rights for Rylee and then he can do whatever the hell he wants.”
“You don’t want to know him?’
“Why the fuck would I? He has two kids. If he doesn’t want to know both of us, then he can’t get a damn thing from me.”
“I respect that. They’re gonna be good with you. Both of them.” He glanced at Somee and nodded his approval.
And they would. There wasn’t anything in life either Rylee or Somee would want for that I wouldn’t move heaven and earth to make happen. I put that on my life and dared anyone to ever try to prove I wouldn’t.
