Chapter 33 #2

His pace quickened with her words, and sweat began to build on his brow.

She felt amazing. Her soft, wet flesh hugged him as he began to thrust harder.

One hand crept down to massage her clit, and she cried out when he hit just the right spot.

He pumped into her, pouring every emotion he had into this act.

They were losing themselves to each other, and nothing had ever felt so right. Nate had no idea what he had done to deserve her, but he was going to treasure every moment. And currently, he could feel her clench, an orgasm pending. One more thrust, and she was there, coming on his cock.

She cried out and stiffened as a wave of wetness filled her channel, and her pussy pulsed around him. It was a domino effect as that extra sensation pushed him over the edge.

He came hard. Electricity zinged down his spine as hot jets of cum spurted from him, painting the walls of Alex’s pussy. He groaned as pulse after pulse shot out until he was empty.

Nate collapsed on her but quickly rolled them both over so that she was now lying on top of him. They were still connected, his cock still twitching from his orgasm. Alex let out a deep sigh and buried her face into his chest. He gently stroked her hair, basking in the afterglow of sex.

“Thank you,” she whispered.

“For what?” he questioned, an eyebrow raised. “The mind-blowing sex?”

“No,” she laughed. “Well, yes…but no. Why are you making this so hard?” She bit her bottom lip before continuing. “For making me whole again.”

Nate stared at her incredulously. She couldn’t be serious.

“I had nothing to do with that,” he told her. “You did that all on your own.”

“Yes, but—”

“You dealt with the trauma. You put in the work. I just showed up. In fact, I made things worse in some cases. You persevered. Give yourself that credit.”

“I don’t think I could have done it without you. You make me feel safe.”

A warm feeling spread through Nate’s chest, and he told her, “You’re always safe with me.”

She nuzzled closer into him, and a silence fell over them.

Nate’s mind kept playing back their conversation, and a sinking feeling was beginning to develop.

They may have had their happy ending. Nate may have taken down Victor.

However, there was one promise that he hadn’t been able to keep, and it darkened his mood considerably.

“What’s wrong?” Alex asked.

“Nothing,” Nate said.

This was the wrong time to bring up Alex’s rapist.

“You’re making that face,” she told him.

“What face?”

“The face you make when you’re sad.”

“I don’t make a face.”

“You definitely do.”

He huffed out a breath and said, “Fine. There is something wrong, but I didn’t want to ruin the moment.”

“Nothing could ruin this moment,” she replied.

“Even your past?”

She hesitated before saying, “Even my past.”

“Okay.” He nodded. “Well, it’s just…I promised you I’d find your attacker. I haven’t yet. I feel like shit about it, and now that I don’t have Sally to help, I don’t know if I’ll be able to track the guy down as easily.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Alex held up her hand. “We’ve been busy, Nathan. Cut yourself some slack. Also, I never asked you to go after him. That’s not why I’m with you.”

“Can you remind me why you’re with me?”

“Because you are the sweetest, kindest, most wonderful man I’ve ever met—not to mention hot. It’s hard not to love you, Nathan.”

God, I do not deserve this, Nate thought.

“I love you too,” he replied.

“Why don’t we get some sleep? We have to be back in tomorrow bright and early at Headquarters.”

With that, she snuggled in, her eyes closing. She was asleep within a few minutes. Nate watched her intently, feeling happy for the first time in decades.

He dozed for a while, going in and out of sleep. He kept waking up to check and see if Alex was still there—if his new life was still real. However, it was when his burner phone started to vibrate beside the bed that Nate cracked his eyes open and frowned.

Who would be calling him? Stratton? Why?

He untangled himself from Alex and grabbed his phone. The number came up as “000-000-0000.” His frown deepened, and he almost didn’t pick up. However, it could be something important. Maybe it was John blocking his number?

“What?” he answered.

“Nathan,” a familiar woman’s voice came from the other end of the line. “I’m glad you are okay.”

Nate could feel the blood drain from his face as he tried to understand why Sally’s voice was on the other end of the line. Was this a trick? Was the Conglomerate screwing with him? He thought this was all behind him, but maybe it wasn’t over?

He jumped out of bed, butt-ass naked, and strolled out of Alex’s bedroom, growling, “Who is this?”

“Sally,” Sally’s voice said.

“Impossible,” he said. “She’s dead.”

“Well, yes. And no,” the voice on the other end said.

“Get to the fucking point.”

“Wow, Nathan. I know you’re shocked, but you don’t have to get grouchy. I can prove that I am your Sally.”

“You can’t—” he began, but Sally’s voice cut him off.
