Epilogue

Bonnie

Icrawl out of the tent naked and look around.

The sun is warm, and the birds are calling.

It’s been two happy months since we killed Kendall.

His screams still give me shivers of delight.

I have never felt as close to my pack as I did when we killed the asshole who thought he could hunt us.

Something changed in our connection that night.

We went from scent matches to something deeper. Soulmates or something.

Meg and Desi raided his house and found a whole lot of information about different people. Too much. He’d been watching for far too long. So his house burned. Meg passed on a warning to Pix that Roseland was being watched and hunted, and Pix disappeared.

It’s not the first time.

We’ll never be able to find him unless he reveals himself to us. So, I haven’t tried, but he is the dark shadow on my happiness. As soon as he makes a sound, I’m not going to let him go.

A fish flops in the shallow river in front of me.

“It’s begging to be speared,” Cyn grumbles.

I snort a laugh. “Leave it alone. We’re going into the big, wide world to explore; he can live another day.”

“All right, but only for you,” Cyn murmurs.

Kota comes out and hugs me from behind. “Get dressed, little one. If someone sees you prancing around naked like this, I’m removing eyes.”

“There’s no one out here.”

“Do you want to take that chance?”

I spin away from him and pull my clothes on.

They pack everything up, just one tent and just us this time. It’s our bonding present, four weeks away in the wilderness before we have to come back and work.

We’re climbing the mountain. We’re going where no one has gone before. I’m more excited than how I feel when I kill people.

I turn on the satellite phone.

“Good morning, you dirty hoe!” Meg sings out.

“Who gave you the phone, Meg?”

She laughs. “Hope they are sticking you good.”

“Meg!” I laugh.

“Oh, all right. Do you want the fun news?”

“Mm?” I say, distracted by Vale bending over to fill up water bottles. He has a very attractive rear end. I wonder if he will let me peg him.

“We’ve found some potential targets to hunt.”

I freeze, and that draws the pack’s eyes.

“You’ve found us some strays?” I purr.

“I have,” Meg chuckles.

I hesitate, looking into Kota’s eyes. “We’ll play with them when I get back. I’ve got a mountain to climb.”

Meg whines. “His cock can’t be that big! Fine, but call me tomorrow.”

“Have a good holiday, Meg.”

“Goodbye, cock warmer.”

“Shit, Meg!” I splutter, laughing.

She laughs, smacks her lips, and ends the call.

I hoist my pack and look at my alphas. “Are you ready for this?”

“Born ready,” Cyn purrs.

We cross the river and climb the cliff wall. When we get to the top, we look down on a glorious valley of thick forests and places that haven’t ever seen humanity before.

Kota lets out a loud call that echoes around and fades.

My heart is beating hard, and when Vale takes my hand, I hold his fingers tight.

“I will share my kills with you for all my days,” I say quietly.

Vale lifts my hand to his lips and kisses it.

“Let’s go get you the world.”

Rory winks at me as he disappears down the animal track, Cyn on his heels. Vale and Kota take up the rear, and with each step, I feel like I could scream, I’m so happy.

The me that wanted them at eighteen would never have survived this life. We all needed to grow and change to become perfect for each other.

But now…nothing can stop us. The world is open.

It’s ours for the taking.

My alphas are mine.

And anyone who gets in our way…well, maybe they’ll meet their maker.
