Chapter 61
BLAIZE
HUNTER
Your girl is playing a dangerous game, but I have a favor to ask when you are back in Westhaven.
ME
Are you okay?
Iknew she wasn’t okay. Hunter wore a mask, but she made sure hers was more secure than mine ever was.
Her life wasn’t a tragedy she wanted people to pity.
It made me wonder how much she told Everly or what the two of them did.
I knew she was a sadist, but I didn’t know how she was when she was a lover.
Hunter loved Everly, and this was a betrayal she never expected to face.
For that reason, Everly would die an even more painful death.
HUNTER
I’m fine. Kadence wanted to help, but she doesn’t understand the kind of help I need.
Kink.
Hunter just lost one of the best women who loved pain, but now I wonder if it was a farce or if she was batshit insane.
ME
I’ll be back later and we can talk. You know I will help you any way I can.
It wouldn’t be the first time we shared a woman together, but it would be up to Kadence. She liked Hunter, but she didn’t fully know what Hunter liked in the bedroom. Hunter was more tame when we shared, but if she was alone, her kink choices hurt.
I hit the kickstand on my bike before quickly sending Kadence a text.
She had therapy today, and then she would see Annika.
Annika and her men took time away from the club to deal with Drew and his stupidity.
He was noble, but Drew would get himself killed pulling skeletons out of closets.
I didn’t understand why he wanted to do it in the first place, but I also didn’t understand the restraint of religious trauma.
I did, however, understand the weight guilt had on a person.
He was guilty and wanted to save his sister, but he was trying to save a version of her that didn’t exist anymore.
“Do we have any leads on her location?” I asked Cross as I walked into the clubhouse. Sin and Ranger were there, too.
With Everly out there somewhere and someone infiltrating my club, I had my men patrolling and I had extra men at the club.
The BDSM club would be open this weekend, so I needed the next five days to focus on finding her.
I hated feeling powerless when this was my domain.
Everly would pay for everything she did, and I would make sure she and her boyfriend died a very painful death.
“Negative, boss. I have men at every corner and some of Damon’s men keeping watch in Bellevue for her, but we haven’t found any trace of her,” Sin said.
I forced my lips together. “She must’ve left or is keeping a low profile.”
“After we figured out who she was, she got scared. She almost had Kadence killed,” Sin pointed out. It was what we assumed. She was ready and knew what would happen. Now she was planning and preparing her next move.
Ranger turned to look at me. “How is your girl?”
“Kadence is good. She handled seeing her ex better than I thought, and now she is doing her best to comfort Hunter.”
“She finally has peace,” Sin said. “She’s been through a lot in the last few months and deserves happiness.” He narrowed his eyes on me. “Don’t fuck it up, Blaize, because it’s good seeing you happy, too.”
I narrowed my eyes on him. “Sin, I’m going to punch you.”
“You like to self-sabotage. You’ll be scared of her getting hurt and you’ll push her away.”
He read me like a damn book, but I wouldn’t do it. Not this time. I already hurt her enough by trying to hide my feelings, and I refused to accept them. Kadence was worthy of everything, and I would make sure she knew it.
“How are you two?”
He laughed bitterly. “Pissed. Broken. Lost. Take ya pick. It’s hard. Layla was our constant, and now she’s gone. How did you do it, boss?” His voice broke.
“I killed the asshole who did it,” I told him, looking at both Ranger and Sin. “I’ll find the him, but don’t change who you are. Live for Layla. Make her proud until you meet the person she sent you, but don’t push whoever that is away.”
“It’s hard,” Ranger admitted. “I’m glad you have Kadence.”
“And I almost lost her, multiple times. Do you know where Hawke is?”
“He’s bringing Fallon home today,” Ranger said. “She wanted to leave sooner, but the doctor didn’t like how her vitals looked so they kept her longer. She survived a bullet, heart surgery, and death.”
Hawke arrived at the clubhouse with a very annoyed Fallon in his arms thirty minutes later. She was screaming at him, but she was also trying to catch her breath as well in between. When her eyes found mine, she glared daggers at me.
“Please, please, please take him. I want him out of here,” she hissed.
I arched my brow as Hawke grimaced when Fallon hit his chest. “Trouble in paradise?”
“The asshole won’t let me do anything!”
“You were shot in the fucking chest and died multiple times, goddamnit,” Hawke growled. “Accept the pampering, princess.”
“Fuck you, asshole.”
“Doc said three weeks, and then I will.”
She grumbled. “I hate you.”
“You can hate me all you want, babe, but in the end you love me.” Hawke gently laid her on the couch, attempting to kiss her. When she turned her head with a smirk, Hawke grabbed her face and kissed her hard. “You’re such a fucking brat.”
“Bite me,” Fallon barked back.
Hawke looked at me. “Where are we going?”
Damon met us out front of his clubhouse, looking like he was ready to kill someone as he took a long drag of his Cuban cigar. “I’m taking a damn vacation after this shit.”
“Did you look over the files I sent?”
He nodded. “Yeah, and she was in plain sight. Come on.”
He turned on his computer monitor, hitting a button as a video started to play.
It was a woman—Everly walking into Damon’s club to meet with a man.
The man’s face was covered by shadows. He was smart and didn’t want me to know who he was.
When Everly got to the table, she removed a turquoise wig.
Everly knew. She knew I would blame Kadence because of her hair and their similar body physique.
Everly was a little smaller than Kadence, but my rage didn’t let me see the inconsistencies.
The one picture where I saw Kadence’s face was enough, but I was to blind with rage to see the truth.
“This woman frequents my town, but I never questioned it. I showed her picture to Jethro and Garrett as well, and she’s in their towns, too.”
“So she is trying to scope out. How many people are joining her?” I questioned.
Damon rubbed his temples. “There were rumors of a few, but they were able to be persuaded away from it.”
“I want names so I can make a statement. Thank you, Damon.”
“If you need anything, let me know. And when you are ready to kill her, I'd like to help.”
“She’s mine,” I told him.
Everly hurt the woman I loved, killed the woman my men loved, shot Fallon, and sabotaged everything in my town. She was going to pay, and I would make it hurt.
