Twelve #2
She pulls away, creasing her eyebrows. “If you ever want to receive another of those, from me…” She pauses to point to herself dramatically. “…you’d be best not to mention previous blowjobs from other women.”
I can’t help but smile. I love that she gets jealous. It goes both ways.
“Sunshine, you did know I wasn’t a virgin, right?” I ask her just to tease.
The question backfires on me when she answers, “Oh, I know you weren’t, but guess what? Neither was I.”
She smirks and pushes past me through the doorway, making her way downstairs. It takes me a while to clear my head of the rage I encounter at thoughts of her with another man.
Walking out to the car, after making sure Alyssa’s front door was locked, I’m stopped in my tracks when I see Alyssa hugging Bray, who notices my approach and smirks as he wraps his arms around her waist.
“What the fuck?” I yell as I approach, ripping her away from him and holding her against my chest.
As Bray laughs and dodges my right hook, Alyssa turns in my arms and smiles as she says, “Relax, Zac. I was just thanking him for last night. You know, for saving me from getting more than just a light bruise on my face.”
At the mention of the bruise on her face, my eyes zone into her cheek and my rage only heightens. “You couldn’t do that, without having his arms wrapped around you?” I sulk. I know I’m sulking, but I can’t seem to help it.
Alyssa wraps her arms around me. Standing on her tiptoes, she whispers in my ear, “It was your cock that was literally in my mouth not five minutes ago. I don’t think you need to be jealous of your own brother.
” She smiles and turns to Bray. “Wipe the smile off your face, before I let him unleash on you. Now, are you driving me to work, or do I need to call an Uber? Because I’m too late for the train now. ”
The thought of her getting on the train sends my blood cold, I grunt out, “You’re not catching a fucking train.”
Bray goes to climb into the passenger seat.
“Not a fucking chance. Get in the back.” Pushing him out of the way, I hold the door open for Alyssa to climb in.
Pulling out of the driveway, I grab her hand and bring her wrist to my mouth before resting our joined hands on my thigh.
The first time I did this, I noticed how much she melted and relaxed into her seat, just like she does now.
Nearing the hospital, I ask her, “What time do you finish? I’ll pick you up.”
She looks over at me. “I finish at midnight, but you don’t have to pick me up. I can get a train or an Uber. It’s fine, really.”
I can’t help the rage that comes over me. “Like fuck you will get a fucking train at midnight. Are you crazy? It doesn’t matter. I’ll be here to take you home.”
I hear Bray clear his throat in the back seat as he pretends to be busy on his phone. Alyssa doesn’t miss it either.
“You’re either a control freak, or have serious issues with people catching trains. I’m good with either option right now, because I really freaking like your cars and appreciate the ride.”
Bray clears his throat again, unsuccessfully disguising a laugh. Alyssa turns around in her seat, facing him.
“Care to share why you got arrested this morning, and had to drag Zac out of bed to bail you out?”
The fact that she knew why I had to go and help Bray both surprises and confuses me. How the hell did she know that he got arrested? As I’m racking my brain trying to figure out how she knew, Bray slaps the back of my head.
“You told her? What happened to the bro code, man? Bros before—”
I cut in, not letting him finish his sentence. “I swear to god, Bray, if you finish that sentence, you’ll find yourself walking home.” He wisely shuts his mouth.
“He didn’t have to tell me. Reilly sent me a message this morning, worried about you and the fact you got taken away in handcuffs.” Turning back to face the front, Alyssa continues, “So why did you get arrested, Bray?”
“It’s on a need-to-know basis, and you, dearie, do not need to worry your pretty little head about it,” Bray says so matter-of-factly.
Alyssa turns back and shoots daggers at him. “That’s fine. I don’t need to know, but there is something you need to know.” She waits for him to acknowledge her.
“And what’s that?” he asks.
“Oh, you know, just that if you hurt my friend, I will rip your balls off, cook them in spaghetti and feed them to you. I’d hate to have to tell Zac that I deformed his one and only brother.” She thinks about this for a second before looking at me. “Wait, there aren’t any more of you, right?”
“Nope, just me, Bray, and Ella,” I say.
Deciding it’s best to change the subject before she questions any further into the family, I ask Bray, “I need you to put feelers out for a new PR manager.”
He grumbles that he’s on it, but Alyssa suddenly gets excited. “Wait, you’re looking for a new PR manager? For the club?”
Her excitement is contagious, and I can’t help but smile at her.
“If you want the job, sunshine, it’s yours.
” Bray coughs in the back seat, and I shoot him a glare that he catches through the rear-view mirror.
Alyssa’s laugh fills the car. It’s a laugh that I could listen to all day, a laugh I want to hear a lot more of.
“I don’t think I’m qualified to be your PR manager, Zac, but I do happen to be very good friends with someone who does have a degree in public relations and is currently between jobs.”
I would have given her the job whether she could do it or not, just because it would mean I would see more of her. Curious to know which friend she is referring to, I ask, “Who’s your friend?”
Alyssa looks at me a moment before she rushes out, “Reilly.” Noticing my screwed-up face, she adds,
“I know what you’re thinking, but she really is good at what she does.”
“Not a fucking chance,” Bray grunts from the back seat.
It’s a good thing it’s not his club, and just to rub that fact home, I tell Alyssa, “Tell Reilly she’s got the job and to meet me at the club in two hours.” I wait for her squeal and happy dance to stop before I finish my thought, “On a one-month trial basis, but no promises, sunshine.”
Bray curses to himself in the back seat. Alyssa looks back at him but decides not to say anything.
“I’m going to text her now. I promise you won’t be disappointed.” Alyssa texts back and forward with who I assume is Reilly for the rest of the trip.
