Chapter 32 Mia

“Iknow you fucking lying!” Smoke said as we all sat around eating breakfast the next morning.

Somebody brought up hearing a car last night, and Titan confessed to what he did. When he revealed Quaid had been his right hand in the mini massacre, everybody was shocked.

Quaid frowned. “Why do you have to act like that? Y’all know I carry.”

Smoke chuckled. “Carry, yes. Actually busting that shit, come on now.”

“You want a demonstration, my nigga? You sound like you want to be a live target.”

“You gon’ shoot me, Spencer Reid?”

“I’ll shoot you right in your ass, Deeboo. You gotta be my biggest op, figuratively and literally. You don’t get tired of being a damn hater?”

“You just make it so easy.”

“You better leave my baby alone,” Mrs. DeLuca said. She cupped Quaid’s face and kissed his cheek. “I taught him everything I know about guns. Don’t play with him.”

“You must have taken pity on him like your son,” Smoke muttered.

My mother in-law squinted at him. “I’m sensing some overcompensation here, Devin.”

“Nah,” Quaid said. “It’s a defense mechanism. He really loves me and can’t express that shit. Nigga don’t know what to do with himself if he can’t be on my ass. He’s obsessed.”

Smoke frowned. “I ain’t my sister.”

Quaid smirked. “Well, I know why she’s obsessed.”

“Don’t start your shit,” Deuce warned, throwing a biscuit at him. “Pop, get your damn son.”

My father rubbed his temples. “I swear y’all get on my fucking nerves. Always arguing and shit. I’m about to take off my belt and go around this table whipping ass.”

Maceo raised his hands in defense. “I ain’t even do nothing, Daddy!”

“I’ll whip your ass before you get started.”

“Ain’t that about a bitch?”

Booker laughed, and my mama shot him a look.

“You can get that belt too,” she said.

“Baby, I ain’t even said nothing!”

I mushed his head hard. “Call my mama baby one more time,” I warned him.

“I don’t know why I sat next to your abusive ass. You’ve always hated our love.”

“Booker, you shut the fuck up too,” Senior snapped.

“Now, Mr. Dillinger, I know we ain’t beefing over Ms. Maddie.”

My mother scoffed. “Please. He’d never beef over me. I’m not that baby mama.”

My father signed. “I thought we were past this.”

“Oh, I’m past it.” She took a sip of her coffee. “I’m just stating facts. Besides, I’ve moved on to better. Someone that’s only about me.”

A couple of “Whews” went up around the room and all eyes fell on Senior.

“Do we need to step outside?” he asked.

“Nope.”

“How about we change the subject?” I suggested. “We’re ending this tonight. Personally, I’m ready to do this man in so I can get home and back to my life.”

Quaid cleared his throat. “About that. Currently, he’s held up in a warehouse on the east side. Coward ran after we left last night. A neighbor called the police when the bodies were discovered this morning. Right now, he’s a person of interest, and they think he’s in the wind.”

“Good,” Titan said. “That works in our favor, so when he goes missing, they’ll just think he skipped town.”

“So when are we pulling up on this nigga?” DaVinchi asked.

“Me and Nolan are gonna get surveillance of the place first,” Quaid answered.

“I wanna know what you’re up against. Unfortunately, the building is abandoned.

There’s no electricity and no cameras, so we have to get creative.

I already have the blueprints to the building.

I just need to see what’s going on inside. ”

“And how are you gonna do that?” Deuce asked. “You can’t just knock on the door and walk in there.”

Quaid chuckled. “I don’t have to.”

He reached in his pocket and pulled a small device from it, placing it on the table.

“Is that a bee?” I asked, squinting.

“It is. Senior put me in contact with some people to develop different kinds of portable spyware. I’m working on all kinds of shit.

This is one of them. It’s a tiny camera and listening device installed.

I just need the smallest opening to get into the building so I can see what’s up.

It’s old and run-down, so I know it’s a broken window somewhere. ”

I smiled. “Okay, first of all, you need to start sharing your wins with the family so we can celebrate you. First, you’re opening international locations for your company, now this? That’s big, Quaid.”

His big ass blushed. “I know. I just didn’t think anybody would be interested in my nerd shit outside of Jaeda.”

Steel shook his head. “That’s where you’re wrong.

We fuck with you on some funny shit and all, but you’re family, Quaid.

None of us understand what the hell you and Jaeda be talking about sometimes, but we all realize how essential you are to this family.

We can’t work without her, and now that you’re here, we need you too. ”

“He’s right,” Smoke, of all people, said.

“I really just be fucking with you, but I respect the hell out of you, my nigga. That big ass brain of yours never sleeps. None of us could ever do what you or Jae do. Y’all pull information outta your ass at the drop of a dime.

Nigga, you’re on an international level with this shit and people are asking you to develop spyware? You should be fucking proud.”

Daddy, Mr. and Mrs. DeLuca were all beaming with pride at Quaid. There was no mistake that they loved him.

“I promise, I’ll do better,” he said.

We continued to talk business and plans for the night while we ate.

I was anxious and ready to get this show on the road. We didn’t need to be over here any longer than we had to. Once we took care of JacQues, Paris would never see me again.

The Warehouse

Hours later, I walked into the warehouse where we were holding JacQues’ wife and kids.

There they were, suspended from the ceiling by their wrists, feet dangling slightly above the ground.

They all looked tired as hell, because I told the team I had watching them, not to let them fall asleep.

I knew it had to be particularly hard for the wife because the bitch was good and drunk when Smoke coaxed her out of the building.

She’d already pissed herself and I could smell it on her.

The daughter glared at me as I approached them.

I could tell she wanted to spit on me. When I got a look at his son’s face, I had to laugh.

He shared the same light complexion as me, so the bruises, busted lip, and swollen eye were visible as hell.

“Damn, my daddy and father-in-law really fucked you up, huh?”

“Fuck you,” JJ spat. “You’re gonna be sorry you ever touched us.”

“And who’s gonna make me sorry? Your daddy? That’s laughable. The only thing I’m sorry about when it comes to that son of a bitch is the fact that I didn’t kill him sooner. Now you three are gonna die right along with him because I have to prove a point.”

“I didn’t have anything to do with this,” Alissa said.

Clearly, she had sobered up.

“You let me go and I’ll tell you anything you want to know.”

“Shut up, you stupid bitch!” Jackie yelled, kicking at her. “I told my father not to marry one of his whores. All you care about is saving your own sorry ass. You’re fucking pathetic.”

“I’d rather be pathetic and alive and pathetic and dead!” Alissa turned back to me. “Please. I wasn’t a part of this.”

I smiled. “Alissa, is it?”

She nodded. “Please,” she begged. “I’ll tell you everything. He told me everything about the business. I can help you.”

I giggled. “Here’s the thing, love. Your husband told you everything so just in case he ever got caught, you couldn’t testify against him.

He was covering his ass, not pillow talking, baby.

When you have knowledge that a crime is being committed and you do nothing to stop it, you become just as guilty as the person committing the crime.

Now, my team has done a lot of digging into your husband and this entire family, including you.

I know you used to sell pussy, according to a previous arrest record. That’s how you met him, right?”

She didn’t answer, but she didn’t have to.

“Yeah, that’s it. You got lucky, though. I guess he supposedly fell in love and married you. Did you know he used to watch you?”

She frowned. “What?”

“At the brothel. He watched your performances. You see, my tech team…” I glanced over at JJ.

“Real technical geniuses… they found all sorts of videos of you on your husband’s computer.

You see, when you have the skill set, you don’t even have to be anywhere near a person’s computer to hack it.

I’ve heard all sorts of conversations that man’s had with all three of you before I even touched down here.

I also know the depth of your involvement in his business,” I said to Jacki and JJ.

“So, that family that preys together, dies together.”

Jackie laughed. “Nice monologue, bitch. How long did it take you to think of that?”

I smirked at her. “You’re gonna be first.”

I pulled a blunt from my pocket and lit it. After taking a pull from it, I blew the smoke in their direction.

“I think I’m gonna take my time with you. A slow kill is almost as orgasmic for me as a slow fuck.”

“You right about that.”

I turned to see Titan and my brothers walking into the building. He sauntered over to me and kissed my lips.

“How you doing, mamas?”

“I’m good. Just deciding on who JacQues is gonna watch die first. It’s this loud mouth bitch. I figured since her daddy took my first daughter, it’s only right I take his too.”

“Sounds good to me. What are you gonna do to her?”

“So many options. Kane, can you bring them over?” I asked one of the guys assigned to stand watch over them.

He grinned as he stood to his feet and went into the other room. He came back out with a big rolling cart with an assortment of weapons displayed on it. I wasn’t going to shoot them. No, a bullet was way too good for these people. They deserved something much more sinister.

Jackie swallowed hard and tried to keep a stone face, but her body language told me she was scared shitless. On the cart was an assortment of items such as a chainsaw, machete, acid, knives, an axe, a baseball bat with nails embedded in it, and spiked brass knuckles, to name a few.

I pulled my gun from behind my back and screwed on the silencer before placing it on the cart.

“Pick a number between one and ten,” I said.

She was quiet.

“Clearly, you’re hard of hearing, so I’ll repeat it again. Pick. A. Number.”

She was quiet still.

Grabbing my gun, I walked over and started pistol whipping her in the face.

“Pick! A! Muthafucking number, bitch!” I screamed as I brought the gun down repeatedly.

“S-seven!”

“How fucking hard was that?”

I backed up from her. When I turned around, my brothers were staring at me.

“Well damn,” Maceo said. “Now, I heard you pistol whipped a ho before, but I hadn’t seen that shit in living color. Let me stay on your good side.”

Smoke, Deuce, and Steel chuckled. Titan licked his lips as he stared at me.

“You showing out,” he said with a smirk. “You know what that does to me.”

Maceo shook his head. “And y’all say me and my wife are freaked out. Pot meet kettle.”

I rolled my eyes as my phone rang. Pulling it out, I saw it was Quaid. He and Nolan had gone to scope the scene.

“Hey, Quaid,” I answered. “Got anything?”

“Yeah. They are about fifty deep in there. Y’all will have to be strategic to get them all, but you don’t have anything to worry about. He’s panicking right now. Nigga thinks he has a mole. He’s questioning them and crashing the hell out. You have him spooked.”

“Good. Wait for the team.”

“Copy that.”

I hung up and shot my father a message to let him know to get the others ready, then looked around the room.

“Bring his ass here,” I said.

Those who were seated stood to their feet. My brothers walked over to hug and kiss me, and dap Titan before leading the team out of the warehouse.

I took a deep breath.

It was almost showtime.
