Chapter 35 #2

Macon only lets family be present, and Clay’s been around long enough to prove her loyalty.

“He wants us to move into the house,” I tell him, unable to hold back my grin.

“Macon wants us all in the house?” he asks. “Fuck, no.”

“That’s what I said.”

“I mean, it’s not like we can go at it anywhere we want.”

Damn straight.

We have a place there. I still have my room, and Anna-Katherine has hers. We crash there when we’re having a house party, block party, or spending all day at the beach and want to keep enjoying the family.

But for day-to-day? I can’t be restricted to just my bedroom for sex.

I lean in for another kiss. “I like our privacy,” I whisper.

His lips meet mine, his eyes softening when I pull back. “I’m glad you like it here.”

“Well, I didn’t say that.” I look around at all the white, only really loving his copy of On the Shortness of Life and my Seneca and Nero statue sitting together on the mantle. “It’s pretty sterile. You got anything against color?”

“You can do whatever the hell you want.”

“Oh, not me,” I say. “I thought I’d let Krisjen and Aracely have some fun with it.”

He seems to think, and it might’ve been a bad idea to suggest a woman I’ve slept with decorate our house, but he simply looks down at his sister. “Anna-Katherine.” He brushes her hair. “Let her loose.”

God knows what she’ll turn the place into. Wayne Manor? Winter Palace?

But I nod. “She’d like that.”

She’s becoming very busy these days. Helping at the school, lunching with Liv and Clay, helping Krisjen and Aracely stock the new library in the Bay, and she’s supposed to be taking a part-time job at the drive-in when it opens.

And now, decorating.

I pause for a moment, thinking of the one thing I do want in this house. “I want pictures of us,” I tell him.

“Like couples’ photos?”

I almost laugh, his face contorting in disbelief.

“No, just…” I don’t know what I’m trying to say.

I want good times and memories, things to look at and remind us on bad days of how good this feels. I want him and me and Anna-Katherine and my family and…

And I want…

“I want my fucking heart on the walls,” I tell him. “Okay?”

I want everyone to know that this is where I want to be, that lives are lived here, and I want…

More. I want to see him holding a kid.

Meeting his eyes, I’m too afraid to say it. “Do you know what I mean?”

He studies me, the silence stretching as he sees how serious I am.

“Children?” he murmurs.

I smile. “Not today but yes.” I search his eyes. “You?”

And immediately, he holds up three fingers.

My smile widens. I was thinking two, one from me and one from him, but he won’t have to talk me into anything. I’ll do whatever he wants.

Looking at him and thinking about him being a father makes him instantly hotter, as if it were possible, and my body warms.

He draws in air. “You smell good.”

Yeah, I’m done talking. We’re going to bed.

“Let’s take her up,” I say.

Moving around the couch, I scoop her up, and she stirs. Opening her eyes, she sees me and quickly closes them again, relaxing her head on my shoulder.

Callum follows me up the stairs. “Is your stepmother still in Palm Beach?”

“If Anna-Katherine wants to stay here, she wants to be close,” he explains. “She’s setting up a condo.”

That’s good. Ava loves her, and I know she wants a chance to be good for her.

She failed her, but we’ll see what happens now that they’re both free.

I’m glad she’s not pressing to uproot Anna-Katherine.

Her daughter has become quite independent, ordering her own rideshares, making friends, and getting a job.

She’s starting to flourish, especially under a new doctor Macon recommended.

Between my family, Callum, and Ava, we make sure she gets to every appointment.

We put her to bed and leave the room, heading to our own.

Callum closes the door behind him, and I’m already ripping off my tie as he unbuttons my shirt.

“You ready for the year?” he asks.

“Are you?” I peel off my shirt and kiss him. “Gonna piss off a lot of people.”

“I’ve pissed you off. That’s practice enough.”

“I let you piss me off,” I say over his lips. “Because it was good foreplay.”

He pushes me onto the end of the bed and unfastens my pants, sliding his mouth down my cock.

I jolt, gripping his hair as he moves up and down, his hot tongue massaging the underside until I’m fully hard.

I groan, nearly dropping my head back. “Callum, I’m not gonna last long like that.”

He keeps going, sucking me down to the hilt like he can’t get enough.

“Baby,” I gasp, “I wanna fuck.”

I can’t force myself to stop him, though. It feels so good.

He works my cock, my hand on the back of his head as he bobs up and down, and I’m about to come. “Oh, God.”

Every muscle tightens, my dick swelling, his wet mouth sending me over the edge.

Then he stops. The orgasm I’m on the crest of teeters, and I lose it as it falls back to low in my stomach.

Popping up, he tears off his shirt and pushes down his pants.

“Fucking asshole,” I breathe out.

He grins, and I grab the back of his fucking neck and pull him in.

“I want you so badly,” I tell him.

He pushes me onto my back and comes down over me. “And you better keep it coming,” he says.
