Ellie assured Rhonda they wouldn’t give up their search for Dana Jo and Lou Lou and refused to leave Rhonda alone until the medics arrived.

In her mind, Ellie could hear the child’s terrified screams as her abductor snatched her, then left her grandmother behind, bleeding and injured.

Car engines rumbled outside indicating the ERT had arrived, and she stepped back into the hallway.

Cord called from downstairs, “Medics are here.”

“Great. Send them and the ERT up so they can start processing the scene. I’m gathering Dana Jo’s things for DNA and for Benji to help search the premises and the woods behind.”

“Copy that.”

Ellie squeezed Rhonda’s hand. “You’re going to be okay. I promise we’ll do everything we can to find Dana Jo and Lou Lou.”

Rhonda nodded, although doubt filled her teary eyes. She was obviously terrified her daughter and granddaughter were gone and she’d never see them again.

Ellie was terrified, too. But she refused to give up until she brought Dana Jo, Lou Lou and Iris home.

And until she stopped this madman and got justice for his victims.
