Epilogue

FOREVER: MERRY

Everyone in the place is clapping and I can’t believe how good it all is.

Reese is grinning and moving among the people, her eyes glowing with happiness.

One of the paintings holds pride of place in the middle of the place and everybody is gathered around it, awed by how beautiful it is.

But there’s no sold sticker on it. It’s not for sale. It’s the one that my husband painted the first night we were together.

The lights glow in the painting on my skin and every stroke is a love letter from my husband, every shadow, every loving look.

I can almost feel his touch.

He looks over at me and smiles and I smile back, my hand slipping down to cover my stomach.

Later tonight I have a surprise for my husband. A tiny surprise that I hope makes him as happy as it’s made me.

I never thought I’d have the perfect life, the most wonderful husband and the chance at a family like this.

But it’s mine.

His arms slip around me and I lean back into him, smiling. “It’s all so perfect. They love everything.”

“Why wouldn’t they? I had a muse that made it all so easy and perfect. And it shows.”

I lean into him harder and smile happily. He kisses my cheek, his warm lips gliding across my skin as I shiver.

Someone smiles and waves at him and he nods but doesn’t leave me.

He’ll never leave me. He’s my forever and I’m his.

And soon we’ll have the family we always wanted.
