Two Years Later

We stood in the driveway of a familiar white ranch-style house on the edge of Coldridge, an old basketball hoop in the driveway and a hand-painted “Welcome Hockey Families” sign in the flower bed. Jace unloaded his gear bag, tossing it over one shoulder like it weighed nothing, even though I knew damn well it was packed with almost everything he owned.
