Blitz

She was surprised to find that it had been so easy for her to feel at home at Drifter’s place.

She was helping Josie to get settled, but more than that, she was finding herself feeling settled too—and that wouldn’t end well for her.

She knew that she couldn’t stay with Josie and Drifter forever.

Her life was waiting for her back at home, and unfortunately, so was Reid.

At least she was safe at Drifter’s—at least she hoped that was the case.

The front door swung open without so much as a knock. Monster’s boots hit the hardwood, heavy and unapologetic. “She better not be bailing on us,” he grunted, stomping into the living room.

Drifter followed, his grin already in place as he leaned against the doorframe. “What’d I tell you? She’s still in her sweats. Didn’t even try to get ready.”

“You said that you’d come down to the club,” Monster said flatly.

Blitz arched a brow, “Actually, I said that I’d try to stop by. But if you want the truth, I wasn’t planning on going.”

Drifter pushed off the doorframe, strolling closer with that lazy swagger of his, and Blitz couldn’t help but look him up and down.

God, he was built for sin, and that goofy grin he wore only made her want him more.

“Josie’s tied up babysitting. You’re not stuck here.

And the clubhouse is lit tonight—band’s playing, and the bar’s flowing.

Wouldn’t it be better than sitting here staring at the walls or pretending to read a book?

” He nodded down at her book, and she looked to find that it was sitting upside down on her lap.

She quickly turned it around, causing Drifter to laugh.

Monster crossed his arms, looming near the couch. “You should come out with us, not hide out here like some hermit.”

Blitz gave them both a look. “Since when do you two care if I go out?”

Drifter’s grin widened. “Since we both agreed it’s a damn shame when you’re not there. We want to hang out with you, Blitz—you know, get to know you.”

Monster grunted, not one for sweet words, but his eyes burned with the same truth as Drifter’s had.

They wanted her—both of them did, but she had a feeling that once she told them she felt the same way, they’d change their minds.

There was no way that Blitz was going to break up their friendship.

The only way that she’d be with either of them was if she could have both of them—at the same time.

“You’re coming. End of story,” Monster ordered.

He was a little harder than Drifter, and she wondered why that was.

If she were a betting woman, she’d put money on him being jilted in the past by a woman, but maybe she was wrong.

She found his sexy scowl that seemed to hold permanent residence on his handsome face, a complete turn-on.

Blitz shook her head, lips twitching despite herself. “You’re both ridiculous. What if I don’t feel like going out?”

“Then we’ll sit here and bug the hell out of you until you change your mind,” Drifter shot back easily, dropping onto the arm of the couch and nudging her knee with his.

Monster leaned in closer, bracing his hands on either side of her on the cushions, caging her in with sheer size. His voice dropped low, rough and certain. “You’ll feel like it once you’re there. Trust me.”

Caught between them, Blitz let out a long breath. “Fine. But only because Josie’s not around and I’d probably go crazy sitting here with you guys bugging me all night.”

Drifter clapped his hands once, triumphant. “Knew you’d come around.” He offered her his hand with a wink. “Come on, honey. Let’s get you ready to cause some trouble.”

Monster straightened, satisfied, and jerked his chin toward the door. “Ten minutes. We’re riding out together.”

Blitz rolled her eyes, but the smile tugging at her mouth gave her away. They’d won—and both men seemed to know it.

They got to the clubhouse, and Blitz suddenly felt out of her element.

Both guys seemed to pick up on it, too, as they flanked her sides and each held her hands.

She wanted to protest and tell them that she was fine, but she wasn’t about to lie to either of them.

They’d all gotten to know each other enough to be able to tell when someone wasn’t being truthful.

“Come on,” Monster said. “We can go back to my office until you get your bearings. This place can be overwhelming, and shit, I never even thought about that. I’m sorry,” he said. So, the big bad biker had a softer side. She had to admit she liked it.

Before she could protest, the two of them led her to Monster’s office down the hallway.

It was dark and smoky, making the whole scene feel mysterious.

The back room of the clubhouse hummed with muffled laughter and the distant hum of engines outside, but inside, the three of them were caught in a silence that crackled like a live wire.

“Is this better?” Drifter asked. He looked at her as though checking her for actual trauma.

“I’m good,” she whispered. Blitz realized that she was trapped between the two of them, and God, she had thought about his moment for so many weeks now, since meeting the two bikers.

She stood between them, the scent of leather and smoke wrapping her as surely as their heat. Drifter man at her back, broad chest pressed close, his hands resting low on her hips. Monster was in front of her, gaze burning into hers as if he could strip her down with a look alone.

“You two are trouble,” she whispered; her shaky voice was already betraying her.

Drifter chuckled, lips brushing the shell of her ear.

“That’s the point, sweetheart.” His stubble grazed her skin, making her shiver.

Why was he touching her that way? Not that she planned on complaining.

It was how her dreams began every night—caught between the two of them while they touched and kissed her all over, claiming her as their own.

Monster seemed to take her silence for compliance as he leaned in, close enough that his breath fanned her lips.

“You think you can handle both of us?” His eyes flicked briefly to Drifter, a current passing between them that made her pulse stutter.

Monster dipped his head to kiss her, and she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Did he really mean what he had just said?

Was she going to get what she wanted—the three of them together?

The kiss broke, and Drifter caught her face in his hand, tilting her up to meet his mouth while Monster dragged slow, possessive circles against her hip. Every nerve in her body lit at once, caught between their strength, their heat, their unrelenting focus.

She wasn’t sure where one touch ended and the next began. All she knew was that the three of them burned brighter together, tangled in something dangerous and undeniable. And she didn’t want it to stop.

“Now’s the time to tell us which one of us you want, honey,” Drifter said, breaking their kiss.

“Which one of you?” she repeated, feeling a bit breathless and confused.

“I thought that you both wanted me. I mean, you both seem to want me right now.” She looked down at her body as though proving a point.

The three of them were entwined like old tree roots.

There would be no way that they’d be able to deny wanting her.

“We do both want you,” Monster admitted. “I think we’ve made that pretty obvious, but Drifter and I agreed that you would be the one to choose which of us you wanted.”

“Oh,” she breathed, “Well, that’s very kind of you both—letting me decide.

” She couldn’t help her sarcasm. “But I don’t want to choose between the two of you.

How would you feel if I told you that I want you both?

” She stood between them, waiting for her words to sink in.

Realization seemed to dawn on both of their handsome faces at the same time.

Yeah, now they were getting the whole picture.

“Both of us?” Drifter asked. Now it was his turn to be a little unsure of the situation.

“Yep,” she said.

“You can’t ask us to both date you, Blitz,” Monster almost shouted. He pulled his hands free from her body, and she instantly missed their connection.

“Why not?” she asked. “I mean, you two seem to be close friends, right?” They both nodded, and Monster looked a bit leery about what she was going to say next. “So, why can’t you both share me?” she asked.

“Share you?” Drifter shouted, “No fucking way. This isn’t like that, honey. You need to pick which one of us you want to be with.”

“Well, to use your words, Drifter, there is no fucking way that I’ll choose between you. I want you both, or neither of you. How does that work for you?” There she had laid her ultimatum on the table. Blitz just hoped like hell that she wouldn’t be sorry for saying it out loud.

“Neither of us then,” Drifter said, joining Monster across the room.

They stood there, like sentries waiting for her to try to make a move past them.

They were giving her an ultimatum back, and there was no way that she’d agree to it.

She couldn’t choose just one of them. How could she? They were both so perfect for her.

“I see, well then, I’ll get an Uber back to the house.

I hope you both enjoy your night.” She pushed past the two of them, and they let her pass.

She expected more of a fight, but why would they give her one?

She had made her choice and so had they.

She’d end up with neither of them, and that broke her heart a bit.

The evening was cool, the sun just sinking low, when Blitz stepped out of the small grocery store with two bags in her arms. It had been almost a week since the guys rejected her ultimatum, and it still stung.

She had settled into a little routine of taking care of Josie, making dinner for them both since Drifter had spent most of his time in town, either at the funeral home or at Monster’s House.

Tonight, Josie was at the neighbor’s again babysitting, and she hated knowing that she was going to be on her own until the teenager got back home.

She decided that tonight would be the night that she told Josie that she had to go back home.

She didn’t want to leave her, but there was no other way.

The guys had rejected her, and walking out of town was the only way to make her heart stop hurting.

Well, that was the hope. But telling Josie that she was leaving would cause her a new heartache—one that she wasn’t looking forward to facing.

She was just about to the truck that Drifter had lent to her, when she dropped two apples from the brown paper bag she was carrying. She bent down to pick them up and stood, looking around to make sure that no one was there to witness her clumsiness. That’s when she saw him.

Reid leaned against a dark sedan parked near the corner, hands shoved in his pockets, a smirk tugging at his lips. His eyes—sharp, obsessive—locked on hers like a predator finding prey.

Her blood ran cold. “Blitz,” he called, his voice smooth and much too calm. “Didn’t think you’d run this far. But I knew that we’d find each other again. That’s how soulmates work.”

She froze, her throat working, her hands tightening on the grocery bags until the paper crinkled. “Leave me alone, Reid,” she managed, her voice shaking.

He stepped off the curb, slow and deliberate. “Can’t do that. You belong with me. Always have. I let you go once. That was my mistake.”

Before Blitz could move, a familiar shadow closed in from her side. Monster’s hand shot out, shoving her gently behind him, his broad body blocking Reid’s view of her. His voice was low, lethal. “Back the fuck up,” he growled.

Reid’s smirk faltered as he looked Monster over. “This doesn’t concern you.”

Monster’s laugh was humorless, dark. “Everything about her concerns me.”

“This isn’t your business,” Reid said, trying to make himself sound tougher than he was.

Monster tilted his head, his voice dropping into something dangerous. “It’s my business when Blitz looks as scared as she does. So, I’m going to protect her from you because you seem to make her afraid. Why is that?” he asked.

“He’s been stalking me, and I guess he finally caught up to me,” Blitz whispered into his ear.

Monster turned immediately, his hands gripping Blitz’s shoulders, his gaze fierce.

“You okay?” She nodded shakily, tears threatening to spill.

“I’m not going to let him lay one finger on you.

Can you go over to my truck and get into it for me?

” he asked, handing her the keys. She chanced a look around Monster to where Reid seemed to be waiting for them to finish their conversation. Don’t look at him, look at me.”

“Come with me,” she begged, taking the keys from Monster and pulling his hand into her own.

“I’ll be right behind you,” he promised.

“No, he won’t let you follow me,” she insisted. “He’s not as useless as he looks,” she loudly whispered.

Reid chuckled, garnering both of their attention. “Thanks for that compliment, honey,” he said. “Listen, I don’t have all day to stand around here and wait for you two to figure out what’s going to happen next. I just wanted you to know that I’m in town now, honey, and I’ll see you again soon.”

“Don’t you fucking come near her,” Monster shouted as Reid chuckled and turned to get into the car he had been leaning against earlier. He gave a wave out the Driver’s window, and she shuddered at the idea of him making good on his threats against her.

As she watched him leave the parking lot, Blitz finally allowed herself to exhale, leaning into Monster’s chest. For the first time in a long time, she felt safe.

Reid might have come all this way for her, but he’d just found out that it wasn’t going to be as easy to get to her now.

She just hoped that hiding behind Monster didn’t end up costing her later.

Reid seemed to have a way of getting what he wanted in life, and right now, he seemed crazy enough to want her.
