43. Killian

KILLIAN

The sun peaked through the caves, brightening up the red-and-orange canyon walls surrounding him.

His head and back ached, but he focused on the water dripping off the canyon ceiling to keep himself from losing his temper.

Still pissed from last night’s encounter, Killian hardly slept.

Esemeray’s white ass and his brother’s tongue glued to the inside of her thighs was the last thing he had expected to see in the middle of the night, and yet the image haunted him every time he closed his eyes.

But what really bubbled his blood was Riggs playing it off like nothing had happened, as if they were just going for a swim.

Killian rubbed his eyes, walking toward his saddlebag, hoping to find something to eat. After learning Riggs' “big secret,” he hadn’t had an appetite last night. Then Riggs had the audacity to eat her pussy mere feet away from him.

Fucking brute.

What Riggs didn’t know was Esemeray’s moaning woke him from slumber.

Riggs certainly couldn’t blame the Goolies anymore.

At first, Killian thought he had been dreaming, assuming the desire to be a side effect from Reginah’s bite, but when he followed the cries all the way to the pool, he nearly tackled Riggs for being so reckless.

That idiot heard nothing from the king, nothing at all.

Killian could only protect and guide his brother for so long, and at the end of the day, Riggs made his own decisions.

I just hope Riggs makes the right choice.

Barring his sexual proclivities, Riggs was growing into a man their mother would be proud of.

They had no choice now. Esemeray was stuck with them. Even if she left, the thought of her out in the world alone didn’t sit right with him.

Stomach grumbling, Killian lifted up the flaps, scanning through his supplies: canteen, bags of oats, Goolies, dried meat, pocketknife, and twine.

He devoured the dried meat in record time, and popped a pill afterwards.

Nice to know I’m not hallucinating anymore.

He walked out of the cave to gauge the time of the day, already numb. Setting his thumb toward the sky, he squinted on the position of the sun. The way the star rose told him it was around nine o’clock, which was too fucking late.

We should have already arrived at Kohen’s temple with the damn shipment.

Turning around, he scanned the back of the cave, curious why Riggs and Esemeray were not awake yet. He scratched his head, his lips pulling back. There was no way he’d interrupt them this time—no way in hell. Surprised I don’t hear moaning echoing through the cave on this lovely morning.

Killian couldn’t help but laugh. Never once had he walked in on Riggs fondling or fucking, and out of all the women Riggs had been with, he had seen Esemeray naked the most times. He figured it was due to her powers of skin shifting.

Killian stared at the expansive sands and rocky canyons stretching for miles and miles. He sighed. “Six months and seventeen days.”
