Rushing to finish up so I could get home to my old lady, I couldn’t help but stop and think about what the builder had told me today. He said we’d be able to move into our house in two weeks rather than a month. I couldn’t wait to tell Zisa.

She was more than ready to get in and get started on the nursery. I didn’t blame her. So was I. It seemed surreal to me that so much had changed in my life compared to where it was a year ago. My cousin had met an Infidel and moved to Texas. While I’d been happy for her, I hadn’t thought I’d be stepping into a relationship less than a year later. Shain loved teasing me about it. I’d gotten drunk at her wedding and did something I swore I wouldn’t do. I began to talk about my feelings for Zisa, which led to me having to stand up in front of everyone and declare that I had a vagina. Shain swore she wouldn’t let me forget that I did it. I was still hearing the jokes.

It was even harder to believe that Zisa and I would have a baby only four months after Shain had her and Daredevil’s daughter. I told Zisa ours had better be a boy because we had enough girls in the family. She laughed and said to me if we didn’t that it was my fault since the man determined the baby’s sex. We hadn’t found out what we were having yet. I was kinda afraid to find out.

Zisa, the life we were living and the family we were starting gave me more happiness than I’d ever imagined. And as if that wasn’t enough, Mom had been out to visit since Shain’s wedding. She adored Zisa, Shantel, and the girls. I was tentatively hopeful that with this baby coming, we might get her to move back to Norfolk. She seemed able to handle the memories better. Zisa kept telling me to give it time, and she would.

Walking out to my bike, I let the cool October air caress my face as I fired up my engine. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. As I did, I sent up a prayer, thanking not only God but also Sara for talking us into posing for those biker calendars and then instigating us into coming to a book event to help her sell more for the charity. Who knew a book event would be the start of my happily ever after? Not me, that was for damn sure. But I knew one thing. Come the next MMM book event. The Devil’s Regulators will be there. Not only so my old lady could sell to her heart’s content but also so we could find old ladies for my single brothers. Carnage and I were convinced there was no place better to find the love of your life.
