Chapter 6
NOAH
As I watched Ali’s date trail his hand down her back before resting it just above her arse, I ground my jaw.
‘You okay?’ my date, Kayleigh asked and I tried to bring my thoughts back to her.
Kayleigh was attractive and sweet. The conversation was flowing. The date was going fine. All good.
‘Yeah. I just remembered that I’d forgotten to pack something, that’s all,’ I lied. I wasn’t proud of it, but if I told her I was looking at the way Alicia’s date was touching her, she’d get the wrong idea.
‘Oh? What is it? Maybe I can help?’ She smiled.
‘I literally packed everything! Not just the kitchen sink. I reckon I’ve got the bathroom sink in my case too!
I bought ten pairs of shoes, so enough for more than one change every day, a dozen dresses, toiletries, lingerie, condoms…
’ She bit her lip and fluttered her lashes suggestively.
‘Whatever you need, I’m sure I can deliver. ’
Kayleigh tilted her head and started twirling her hair long dark hair around her finger.
I knew she was flirting and under different circumstances, maybe I would’ve considered going back to her room, but for some reason, I had absolutely no interest in fucking her.
When Stavros introduced us, I thought she was pretty, but once we’d done the cheek-kissing greeting thing and exchanged pleasantries, I’d got distracted.
Ali’s date had arrived and he was a good-looking bastard.
The guy was built like a truck. Exactly Ali’s type. She liked her men muscular. I’d seen her eyeing up my arms earlier, but compared to that guy, my biceps looked about as beefy as a stick man’s.
And he had that whole Greek god vibe going on, which was what I knew Ali had said she wanted.
When we were being shown to our table, I’d quickly glanced at where she was sitting and noticed that Ali was already holding hands with her match, so the connection between them must’ve been instant.
Good for them.
I was happy for Ali. She deserved someone who treated her well. It was great that at least this date had turned up and they were hitting it off. And now, from the way he was looking at her like she was his favourite dessert, it seemed like they were about to continue the evening back in his room.
A sharp pain shot through my chest.
Bloody heartburn. I must’ve eaten or drunk too much.
Anyway, it was good that we both had decent matches. Kayleigh was cool.
She was a lingerie model and it’d been interesting hearing how she’d got started and the different places she’d visited. I’d had a nice evening.
Just because I didn’t want to sleep with her right now, it didn’t mean I wouldn’t change my mind tomorrow or later in the week.
I mean, she was a model for crying out loud. Most men would kill to be sitting here with her. I just needed time to get to know her better.
I’d fucked around a fair bit since I’d moved.
After years of being the ‘sweet’ guy and learning the hard way that the saying that good guys finished last was true, I decided to try more hookups.
Apparently, they were good for getting past loves out of your system too, so I thought why not do things differently?
Ever since I’d started working out more and bought decent clothes, women began approaching me, which I didn’t hate. And many of them weren’t shy about stating exactly what they wanted from me, so it would’ve been rude to turn them down.
Which was why it was so weird that I wasn’t jumping at the chance to help Kayleigh put a dent in her condom haul.
But like I said, I’d probably change my mind tomorrow.
I’d been working like a madman to get all the urgent stuff off my desk before I came away and I’d been travelling all day, so it stood to reason that I was tired.
There was no way I was gonna sleep with a woman if I knew I wasn’t able to fire on all cylinders.
Half-arsing it in the bedroom was not an option.
Plus, Kayleigh had drunk a fair amount, and I didn’t sleep with women if I couldn’t be sure they were able to make clear decisions.
Yeah. It’d been a good first date and tomorrow would be even better.
I’d be more into Kayleigh then.
I was sure of it.
