Chapter Five

“He just blurted it out that he cheated? Girl please. I don’t believe that shit one bit.” I was at my best friend Jamilla’s house munching on some chips waiting for the food to be delivered. She was the first person I called to laugh about the shit that went down.

“I’m telling you he assumed I knew and started to apologize for it when I was talking about him cutting me out the funds. I kid you not he was damn near on his knees begging me not to go.”

Yeah, I was exaggerating, but JaJa didn’t know that. She wanted tea and as long as it was piping hot, she was satisfied. The bitch secretly loved that I was having problems. It showed that I didn’t have the perfect life.

I knew in my heart that Hendrix was on the verge of leaving but because I had that beautiful little girl, I knew I was secure in this relationship. He was so damn stupid behind that girl that he didn’t even realize how disconnected me and him were.

There was a time when I was in love with him because of everything he did for me and Akeera but that quickly faded once boredom set in.

All he did was work and worry about my daughter.

There was no time left for me and I refused to beg for it.

I wasn’t that kind of bitch, so I went and got it elsewhere.

“I wish you would shut the fuck up lying all the damn time. You know good and doggone well he wasn’t begging you for a damn thing. He doesn’t even ask for your time as it is, I know he wasn’t begging you not to go.”

I could hear the jealousy and attitude on her tongue.

She always wanted Hendrix and hated that I took him from her.

We met Hendrix in the club one night and I was still in a relationship with my baby daddy, so the mission was to put him on JaJa.

However, he found interest in me instead and she’d envied me ever since.

“You know I don’t lie when it comes to him. I have to make sure you know exactly what he does for and to me. It keeps you going,” I said gloating.

“So, what you doing over here because we both know you’re not going to leave him?”

“To make him sweat of course. What I look like accepting his bullshit without consequences? This is the first time he’s ever done wrong. Plus, what I look like letting another hoe take my spot.” The last comment was a shot toward her.

“I’m glad you know you’re a hoe. You got some nerve feeling any kind of way when you and Woods have been messing around for over a year.”

She couldn’t wait to mention that. I’d been doing me for quite some time now and hadn’t regretted a thing.

While Hendrix wanted to work all day and then pay me no mind after, I was busy getting my world rocked by a man that catered to my body.

The only difference between him and Hendrix were their bank accounts.

“Ain’t it the kettle calling the pot black. If I’m a hoe, I learned it from you. How’s Kenny?”

“I’m not doing this with you,” she snapped back.

“You started it. I came to vent, not to be judged by the bitch that’s supposed to be my best friend.”

She rolled her eyes as she shook her head from left to right. I genuinely loved JaJa, but she needed to stay in her place sometimes. I didn’t care about her wanting my nigga because he was a man that looked and smelled like money. It was evident for him to be wanted.

Where she always fucked up at, was voicing her unwanted opinion on shit I didn’t ask her about. She was my friend and I wanted her to speak freely but she also knew when to shut the fuck up talking to me. She was clearly trying to piss me off.

“Sorry. What do you plan on doing and how long are you going to be away from the house?” she inquired, changing the subject.

“I plan on going to Coppins to hang out with my man for a few days. He’s been wanting me to spend the night and give him more time, so this was perfect.

As far as going back home, Hendrix only granted me seven days, so I’ll go back on day five or six with my ass tooted up.

He has no choice but to kiss this fat muthafucka if he wants my daughter around.

Plus, he only gave me ten thousand dollars and we both know I spend that on shoes. ”

“Ten thousand dollars? He wants you to come back for real I see.”

“I told you he was begging but it’s whatever. I’m going to have my little fun and then we’ll pick up where we left off when I get back.”

“Be careful friend. Getting pregnant again by him can’t happen. And there’s no telling who else he fucks with so wrap up because if Hendrix catch something, your ass is just as good as dead.”

She told no lies. Woods and I were careless with the way we behaved.

He knew all about Hendrix and shut up when it came to him.

He knew the kind of money Hendrix had and benefited from it as well.

I would withdraw a few racks and hand them off.

I guess I was trickin’ on him, but he was too fine not to.

“I know which is why we’ve been using condoms lately.

He’s talking about marrying me within six months if Hendrix haven’t stepped up and I’m low key fucking with the idea.

As long as I’ve been with Hendrix, he’s never mentioned marriage and that got me feeling some kind of way.

How a nigga that’s only been fucking me for a year know what he wants with me, and I’ve been your bitch for damn near five years and you ain’t said shit about a ring? ”

“Maybe he doesn’t think you’re wife material. Then again, have you even brought up marriage? He might not fuck with marriage. I know it’s a lot of men out here that doesn’t do shit like that.”

“Fuckin’ with me has no choice. I am not going to be nobody’s girlfriend for too much longer. That is what I can stand on.”

“I hear you. The food is here so let’s just eat and put these niggas to the back of our minds.”

“Get the food but we’re not done talking about niggas because you need to tell me how you and Rover doing.”

“Girl, it’s a mess. Hold up.”

She left the kitchen, and I grabbed my phone to check the message from Hendrix that I tried to ignore.

I put on for JaJa as if I didn’t care about my man, but I loved that nigga down and didn’t want to see no other bitch with him.

He didn’t have to marry me because I was reaping the benefits all because of my daughter.

I wasn’t going to tell her goofy ass that though.

I was so secure in our relationship that even if my dirt was aired, I knew he wouldn’t leave. My daughter granted me access to him in a way no other chick could gain. He thought I didn’t want to spend time with Akeera when in reality, I made it to where they developed a bond that was irreplaceable.

My ticket to paradise was his world. The threat I received from him when I said he wasn’t her father let me know that he would die behind her. He was locked in because she was a part of me and losing her would tear him in two. I was good either way it went.

My Man, My Man: Call our daughter before you get some sleep. It’s the weekend so she’ll be up a little longer tonight. I love you.

Me: I will in a minute and act like it.

I laughed as I sent my reply. I was giving him hell just because I had the power to do so. He loved my dirty fuckin’ draws and I didn’t see that changing anytime soon. While I had my phone in my hand, I shot a text over to Woods to let him know I’ll be there within the next hour or so.

“It’s still hot too so you know I’m about to smash,” she said walking into the kitchen.

We decided on a hibachi restaurant nearby. I was starving and couldn’t wait to dig in. She removed the food from the bag and began to check to hand off the proper order. I grabbed the tequila that sat in the middle of the island and began to make some margaritas.

“Talk about Rover. I’m all ears,” I threw out as I gathered the ingredients.

“Nah. Kenny needs to be the topic. He wants me to move in, but I know how men operate and I need my own space. I am not ready for the overbearing shit men do when you’re under the same roof as them.

I barely cook for myself so I’m not doing that shit and I hate cleaning which is why I have a maid come through once a week. I’m not in-house girlfriend material.”

“You can learn how to do all of that though. Throwing clothes in the washer ain’t shit friend and you know it. Hell, if I can do it, so can you.”

“Girl who you trying to fool? You hate doing anything around that house other than fuckin’ on Hendrix and sleeping. Didn’t you say you was going to get a nanny? What happened with that?”

“I plan on bringing that up when I go back. Trust me, I’m going back with demands. I hope he don’t think shit is going to be sweet.”

“I’m praying for you Avi.”

“Pray for that nigga because I’m about to drag his ass.”

“Oh, what do you plan on doing about the baby? Have you told Woods about it, yet?”

“Girl, I went and got an abortion like a week ago. He doesn’t need to know shit and neither does Hendrix. I’m not keeping either one of their kids. I barely want to deal with Akeera.”

Getting pregnant by Hendrix wasn’t an issue but I knew I wasn’t the kind of woman that wanted to be a mother. I only had Akeera because her father begged me to and then afterward, he left me hanging with her. I loved her dearly, but she deserved someone that wanted to put in genuine time with her.

“Yeah, I’m shutting up about that. Let’s just eat and drink a little,” she suggested.

We ended up cutting that conversation short right there and moved around to eating and bullshitting. The men in our life were hooked on our love and they had no choice but to get with the program. They promised us the world and we damn sure were going to make them eat their words.

For the next hour, we got back on track and enjoyed each other’s company before I got myself together and headed for Coppins. Woods was Fazio’s last name but preferred to be addressed by that instead. I thought his name was cute, but he hated it.

I bumped SZA’s latest album while I was on the highway and threw Hendrix as well as Akeera to the back of my mind along the way. My plan was to call her once I got to my destination but before I walked into his crib. I knew Hendrix and he was going to look for signs in my background on where I was.

It took me almost two hours due to traffic being jammed packed, which I surprisingly didn’t mind. I was content and carefree for once. I didn’t have to worry about my nigga hounding me on when to be home or any of that. I was given a seven-day vacation and I planned on enjoying myself.

By the time I pulled into Woods’ driveway, it was a little after ten. I knew Hendrix would still be awake, but I wasn’t sure if Akeera was. I parked and Facetimed Hendrix’s phone. Regardless of how he felt, I knew he wanted to see me before the night was over.

“Mommy!” was screamed through the screen.

I smiled and put on surprising eyes for her. Akeera was my world just as much as she was her father’s, but I was a mother that was in her having fun era. I hated that she didn’t understand that.

“Hi baby girl. What are you doing up so late?”

“Daddy said I can, and he let me sleep in the big bed with him.”

“Oh yeah? I’m glad you’re spending time with him. What did you guys eat for dinner?”

“We ate steak and sparatus with potatoes.”

“That sounds delicious. Where’s Daddy at now?” I questioned wanting to see Hendrix as well. I would always love that man.

“Right here.”

Next thing I knew, she was putting his face into the camera. I would be delusional if I said he was the sexiest man in the world to me because he wasn’t. Woods definitely had him beat by a long shot, but Hendrix carried a certain type of swag that made him desirable.

“What’s up?” his baritone beamed through the speaker.

“Hey. I didn’t really want anything I was just wondering where you were. Kiss my daughter for me please. I’ll call early tomorrow.”

“Where are you staying Avi?”

“Give me space Hendrix. I’ll call tomorrow.”

I hung up and placed my phone on Airplane Mode.

It wasn’t that I wanted him to track my location because even though we shared it indefinitely, he never checked it.

He trusted me more than I did him at this point.

The first thing I would’ve thought was that I would go out and get revenge. He didn’t think like that at all.

Putting my phone in my glove compartment, I stepped out and grabbed my suitcase from the trunk. I made my way to the door, and he was waiting for me butterball with a hard dick. I smiled and instantly knew what this trip was going to consist of.

“What took you so long?”

“I had to handle something. I see you’re ready for me,” I replied stepping inside and stripping down to match his energy.

“Always.”

The sly smirk he carried let me know he was on demon time.

I wanted everything he was about to offer.

Woods could fuck me into a coma and wake me up with the same kind of treatment.

He knew how to handle me, and he catered to my body on a regular basis.

I loved throwing it because he caught it like no other.

“Show me what’s up then.”
