27. Miles #2

We follow Julius downstairs and load into the Durango he parked out front. All of this is fucked. I hate knowing that my childhood home is in danger of being destroyed by this guy.

How is he always one step ahead? How does he keep finding us? Why can’t he just leave us the hell alone?

I’m so fucking over this shit. I can feel Maddie starting to slip away again, but I won’t let it happen. She’s fucking mine, she belongs with me. I just need to get her out of this mess so we can finally move forward with our lives.

“Miles?” I hear Maddie's soft voice whisper.

She’s sitting in the front seat holding her phone in her lap, her head down, but I can see the tears from where they fell onto her hands.

“Yes, baby?” I grab onto her hands and rub the tears from where they fell.

Her hands are trembling and it shatters me into a million pieces.

I can’t stand to see her this way. She doesn’t fucking deserve it.

She looks up at me, tears still rimming her lashes, but the look on her face isn’t fear or sorrow. It’s wrath.

“I want to kill him.”

I keep staring at my hands that are stained in my friend's blood as Julius drives us to our hotel. Hudson’s in surgery now and thankfully going to make it.

He was shot in the stomach, but they were able to find the bullet and stop the bleeding.

Morgan said he’ll be able to make a full recovery with therapy.

We didn’t change before we left for the hotel and we’re both covered in Hudson’s blood.

People are going to think we fucking killed someone.

I give Julius my wallet when we get to the hotel and instruct him to check us in.

Once he’s finished, we enter from the side entrance of the hotel so no one sees us.

Our hotel has joint rooms, so Julius can have his own space, and we can have ours.

When we get inside, Maddie stands in front of the bathroom mirror, staring at her reflection.

I stand behind her and together we look like a hot fucking mess.

Her expression is blank as she looks over at me in the mirror.

I turn her around and she looks up at me with tears in her eyes.

“I know, baby, I know. I’m gonna end this for us. I fucking promise you, I won’t let him hurt you.”

I turn the water on and let the room fill with steam before helping Maddie out of her clothes and then stepping out of mine.

She steps into the shower, letting the spray hit her and soaking her perfect curls until they fall straight.

I step inside and let the hot water wash the blood from my arms and hands.

Maddie looks down and watches the blood circle the drain.

I lift her chin, and a small amount of what's left of Hudson’s blood on my fingers coats her skin.

I stare at it until the water clears it away and all that's left is her delicate flesh. I can’t stand to see blood on her.

She should have never had any on her in the first place.

I help Maddie wash her hair and then wash mine.

We quickly wash our bodies and then turn the shower off.

Grabbing a towel, I wrap it around my waist, then grab a towel for Maddie to wrap around her body.

She steps around me and heads into the bedroom.

I walk into the room after getting myself dressed to see her sitting on the bed, still wrapped in her towel, soaking the comforter beneath her.

I walk over to where she sits and kneel in front of her. Water drips from the ringlets that flow down her shoulders, and I use my fingers to wipe the water away from her skin. She watches my fingers and then looks over at me.

“What if he finds us again? I don’t want to keep hiding, Miles. I can’t.” Her eyes glow from the tears she continues to hold back, and it’s like staring straight into molten lava. She's scared still, but she holds onto the anger more than anything.

“Let him find us. I'll break every fucking bone in his body and burn him alive for the pain he's caused you.”

Bringing my hand to the side of her neck, I watch as the tear she tried so hard to hold back falls softly down her cheek. I wipe it away with my thumb and lean in closer.

“And I won't fucking stop until I know he's felt the same pain.”

I pull her into me, kissing her plump lips. Maddie lets out a soft moan, and it's enough to send me into a frenzy.

I rip the towel off of her and grab her by her luscious thighs, lifting her higher onto the bed, dropping her there. She lays naked before me, her skin glistening beneath the soft light of the hotel room.

Fuck, she's everything.

She’s so beautiful it steals every coherent thought from my mind.

Her perfectly tan skin is like velvet calling out to me, waiting to be touched.

Her eyes are like flames, branding into my soul every single time she looks in my direction, marking me in a way only she can.

The curves of her body are like a marble statue that was chiseled to perfection, made especially for me.

She is mine. My heart, my soul, the very air I breathe—and I will hunt down every ghost that dares haunt her until there’s nothing left but ashes. If that’s what it takes to see her smile, I'll do it without hesitation.

I pull my shirt over my head and toss it onto the floor beside the bed. She’s watching me, and I can see the moment her greedy little cunt begins to weep for me. I lick my lips, desperate for a taste of her. I sink down to my knees and spread her legs further apart, opening her up for me.
