Chapter Six
“Alia?”?
The deep voice had me startling awake. Jumping up, I hit out at the figure who lingered close.?
“Stop!”?
The man pinned me against the wall and my heart fluttered. His breath hit my face and my pussy flooded. What the fuck? The disorientation was confusing my body.
“You’re safe,” he hissed, his frame still trapping me.
Those words slipped through me, calming my racing heart. I reached up and pushed my fingers into the hair at the back of his head. My chest heaved as I breathed, unable to resist pulling him to me.
A surprised grunt escaped him before I found his mouth with my lips, pressing them against his in a harsh kiss. He stiffened as heat blossomed between us, but I couldn’t let go. Instead, I slipped my other hand around his waist, brushing the leather of his jacket. I opened my mouth, allowing him access as he pushed his tongue inside.
My whole body hummed from the erotic vibe between us. I wasn’t completely sure it was Moth, it was too dark to see. However, the scent of mint and leather was enough to send me into overdrive. It was crazy, and totally inappropriate, but I had to taste him.
His body pressed further into mine, his lips bruising me at the force of his kiss. I squeezed his neck and ran my other hand up and under his T-shirt at the back.
As soon as my fingers touched his skin, he jerked back roughly. “Fuck woman! What are you doing?”
“I’m sorry.” I panted.
He shook his head, the violence of it sending a slight breeze over my face.
“I told you that I didn’t want this,” he spat.
“I couldn’t help it.” I sucked in a breath and clenched my hands by my sides. “There’s something about you. I… ”
His snort was further away as he backed up. “Don’t be fucking stupid, you don’t even know who I am. Trust me, if you did…”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I reached for him as my heart thundered. “You can’t be that bad, you–”
He cut me off as he surged forward, grabbing my arms and forcing them up to the side of my head, holding them tight against the wall. “I could’ve been your stalker,” he spat, “but you always did like playing with fire… and causing them too.”
His words sent a chill down my spine, freezing me to the spot. My heartbeat pounded in my head and I tried to move my arms. It was fruitless, he was too strong.
“Who are you?” My squeaked sentence echoed around us in the dark space.
The bastard knew me, he had to. How else would he know my deepest darkest regret?
Bringing his head close to me, he whispered in my ear, sending cold cold ice into every part of my being. “I’m someone who fucking hates you. So, never… and I mean, never… kiss me again.”
Air whipped around me as he disappeared, his footsteps thumping off the stage and into the auditorium. I followed at a safe distance, sure to keep him a bit ahead of me. If Brandon was still around, I could lock the door right behind Moth, before ringing the police.
Shit. My insides quaked as I kept quiet, waiting until Moth was at the bottom of the stairs before coming out of the club room. He didn’t pause, instead heading straight out as far as I could tell from the sound of his footsteps. I went down and peeked around the bottom of the stairs, releasing my breath as the door closed behind him.
Rushing between the counters, I reached the exit and flicked the lock shut, looking out into the night as his dark figure climbed onto his bike. He lifted his helmet, but paused, turning to look straight at the window I was staring from.
As the streetlight illuminated him, my chest went tight and my lungs stopped working. His brown eyes pierced mine and his whole face was revealed.
It was… Jay Baker.
Fuck. Fuckity fuck fuck.
Heat poured through my veins as he pulled his helmet over his head, hiding the bleak expression on his handsome face. He revved his engine loudly and turned his bike to walk it out of the small alley. The loud hum of his engine faded as he left, leaving me in the dust.
The bastard had known me all along, which should’ve been obvious considering he dropped me at my parents’ house. I’d assumed he was a local neighbour or something, but no…
He was the person I’d hurt most in the world.
And he’d sworn to kill me in return.
