MR.JEON 💜📖 Part 20 The CEO Who Forgot the World

The office floor buzzed with quiet activity, but the ticking clock on the wall seemed louder than everything else combined. It read 11:14 AM, and with every passing second the tension in the conference wing only grew heavier.

Sunlight filtered through the tall glass windows of the building, reflecting softly across the polished floors.

Normally the office felt lively at this hour, but today the atmosphere was tense.

Employees sat at their desks staring at their monitors, pretending to focus on work while secretly listening to every movement around the conference room area.

Everyone knew the investors had arrived.

At the long table near the conference room, Y/N sat upright with her laptop open in front of her.

Her fingers moved quickly across the keyboard as she reviewed the financial slides one last time.

Her face looked calm and professional, but the tight grip she had on the laptop mouse revealed how much pressure she was under.

Beside her, Hana leaned closer, studying the numbers on the screen.

Hana: Are you sure about these projections?

Y/N nodded without looking away from the screen.

Y/N: I checked them again this morning. If operational costs shift like we predicted, the revenue will stabilize by Q3.

Outside the glass conference room, the investors were already waiting. Some checked their watches impatiently while others murmured among themselves. Their impatience was becoming more obvious by the minute.

Just then the elevator chimed.

The doors slid open and Mr. Han stepped out quickly, his sleeves rolled up as if he had been working since early morning. His expression looked serious.

Mr. Han: It's already past eleven. The investors won't wait any longer.

His eyes moved directly toward Y/N.

Mr. Han: I need the revised revenue slide. Accurate numbers. No assumptions.

Y/N finally lifted her gaze.

Y/N: Two minutes, sir. Just the final checks.

Before anyone could continue the conversation, hurried footsteps approached from the hallway. The PA appeared moments later, holding a tablet tightly.

PA: Sir, the investors are asking for Mr. Jeon. They're starting to get restless.

A short silence followed.

Mr. Han exhaled slowly, clearly trying to stay calm.

Mr. Han: Inform them we'll begin shortly. If Mr. Jeon arrives, he can join midway.

The PA nodded and hurried away again.

Hana glanced toward the conference room, clearly nervous.

Hana: If he were here, this wouldn't feel so heavy.

For a moment, Y/N's fingers stopped on the keyboard. The words lingered in the air for just a second before she resumed typing.

Y/N: Let's focus.

A soft click sounded as the final slide locked into place.

Y/N closed her laptop and stood up.

Mr. Han nodded.

Mr. Han: Alright. Conference room. Now.

Across the city, morning traffic crawled through the streets. Cars lined the intersections while drivers impatiently waited for the signals to change.

But one black car cut through traffic much faster than it should have.

Inside the driver's seat sat Jungkook.

His phone vibrated repeatedly on the passenger seat.

Once.

Twice.

Again.

He ignored every call.

The traffic signal ahead turned red, but Jungkook barely slowed down as he drove through the intersection. His grip on the steering wheel tightened, his knuckles turning pale.

His eyes were red and burning.

But his mind wasn't focused on the road.

Her face appeared in his thoughts again.

The way she stood in front of him earlier that morning.

Silent.

Composed.

Professional.

While he tore her apart with harsh words he could never take back.

His voice came out quietly.

Jungkook: I should've protected you...

The memory struck him harder now.

Her shy smile.

The way she used to hold his hand like he was the only person she trusted.

The soft way she whispered his name.

Another tear slipped down his cheek.

Jungkook: I failed you.

His foot pressed harder on the accelerator as the city blurred around him.

Back at the office, the conference room was filled with tension.

Investors sat around the long polished table, watching the presentation screen carefully.

At the front of the room, Y/N stood confidently, guiding them through the slides.

Y/N: As you can see here, once operational costs are restructured, the projected growth stabilizes by the third quarter.

The slide shifted smoothly to the next chart.

Near the door, Mr. Han watched the investors carefully. Some nodded while others wrote notes.

For the first time that morning, he allowed himself a small breath of relief.

Maybe the meeting would still go well.

Maybe—

Suddenly the elevator doors outside opened loudly.

Footsteps echoed through the hallway.

Moments later, Jungkook stepped out.

The PA rushed toward him immediately.

PA: Sir! The investors have been waiting for more than two hours and they—

Jungkook cut him off.

Jungkook: Cancel every meeting.

The assistant froze.

PA: S-Sir?

Jungkook: Everything.

The PA hesitated.

PA: But sir... Mr. Han is already inside and Y/N is presenting the financial—

The moment Jungkook heard her name, he stopped walking.

Slowly he turned toward the assistant.

Jungkook: Y/N is in the meeting room?

PA: Yes sir. She's presenting right now—

Jungkook didn't wait for the rest.

He walked straight toward the conference room.

Inside the room, Y/N continued explaining the presentation.

Y/N: ...which allows the company to maintain stable profit margins—

The doors suddenly opened.

Her voice stopped.

Silence filled the room as every investor turned toward the entrance.

Mr. Han looked up immediately.

Mr. Han: Mr. Jeon—

But Jungkook didn't respond.

His eyes were fixed on only one person.

Y/N.

Before anyone could react, he walked straight toward her.

His hand closed around her wrist.

Gasps spread around the room.

Investor: What the—

Mr. Han: Mr. Jeon?!

Y/N leaned closer, speaking quietly.

Y/N: What are you doing? Everyone is looking at us.

Jungkook didn't answer.

He simply pulled her toward the door and walked out.

Behind them, the investors sat frozen in shock.

Inside Jungkook's office, the door slammed shut.

He immediately walked to the windows and closed the blinds one by one until the room was dim.

Only then did he release her wrist.

His back remained turned toward her.

Y/N stood near the door, her heart racing.

She was confused.

Embarrassed.

Unsettled.

Y/N: Is this about the presentation?

For a moment he didn't respond.

Then his quiet voice broke the silence.

Jungkook: Do you still think this is about business?

Y/N frowned.

Something about his voice sounded wrong.

Slowly he turned around.

Her breath caught when she saw his face.

His eyes were red.

Glossy.

Barely holding something back.

Y/N: Jungkook... what happened?

He looked at her for a long moment before speaking calmly.

Jungkook: Call Jake.
