MR.JEON 💜📖 Part 33 The Man Who Waited
Author's POV
Weeks passed after the truth finally settled inside their home.
The first few days had been tense. The confession, the surprise, the quiet weight of everything that had been said that night—it lingered in the air for a while.
But slowly, life returned to something close to normal.
Not exactly the same.
Just... softer.
Eomma never brought the topic up again.
No lectures.
No dramatic conversations.
Instead, she simply observed.
She noticed the small things.
The way Y/N came home from work with tired shoulders but a peaceful smile.
The way her phone would buzz quietly on the nightstand late at night.
And instead of looking stressed the way she used to after work calls, Y/N's expression would soften.
Her lips would curve into a private smile she tried very hard to hide.
Eomma saw everything.
She just said nothing.
At the office, things were just as careful.
Jungkook respected the boundaries Y/N had asked for.
He never used his position to corner her.
Never asked for anything she wasn't ready to give.
To everyone else, he remained the same CEO.
Professional.
Focused.
Distant.
But sometimes Y/N's phone would buzz quietly during the day.
Short messages.
Simple ones.
"Did you eat lunch?"
"Don't forget to rest your eyes."
"The meeting ended early today."
Nothing dramatic.
Just quiet reminders that he was there.
Waiting.
Patiently.
One evening, the kitchen felt warm and peaceful.
A pot of broth simmered gently on the stove, filling the small house with the comforting smell of garlic and soy.
Y/N stood beside the counter, slicing vegetables while Eomma stirred the pot.
The soft rhythm of the knife tapping the wooden board filled the silence between them.
After a moment—
Eomma spoke.
Eomma: Y/N.
Y/N paused mid-slice.
Y/N: Yes, Eomma?
Eomma didn't look up immediately.
Her eyes stayed on the simmering soup.
Eomma: Does his father know about you?
Y/N's hand slowed.
She answered quietly.
Y/N: Yes, Eomma. He knows everything.
Eomma stopped stirring.
That answer clearly surprised her.
She turned slightly.
Eomma: Oh? Really?
Y/N nodded.
Y/N: He's supportive now.
Eomma placed the spoon down slowly.
Y/N: They've actually been waiting for your consent.
Now Eomma fully looked up.
Y/N: They said they won't move forward unless you agree.
The kitchen grew quiet again.
Eomma turned back to the stove, but her thoughts had clearly shifted elsewhere.
Outside the window, the evening sky was fading into a soft orange glow.
For a moment she simply stood there, thinking.
Then she spoke again.
Eomma: So... they're waiting for me?
Y/N nodded.
Y/N: Jungkook made it clear. He said our family matters just as much as his.
A small smile appeared on Eomma's face.
Tired.
But warm.
Eomma: A man in his position could easily just take what he wants.
She stirred the pot again slowly.
Eomma: The fact that he's waiting... says something about his character.
Just then—
Min-Jae walked into the kitchen, grabbing a glass from the counter.
He listened to the last part of the conversation.
And immediately grinned.
Min-Jae: It says he's whipped, Noona.
Y/N turned instantly.
Y/N: Min-Jae!
Min-Jae raised his hands dramatically.
Min-Jae: Hey, I'm supporting him!
He took a sip of water.
Min-Jae: Any guy who waits for Eomma's permission before taking Noona to fancy dinners is a brave man.
He nodded seriously.
Min-Jae: I respect him.
Eomma chuckled softly.
Then she looked at Y/N again.
Her tone calm.
Decided.
Eomma: Tell them to visit this weekend.
Y/N froze.
Y/N: This weekend?
Eomma nodded.
Eomma: Yes.
She gestured toward the small dining table.
Eomma: If they're serious, they can come here.
Her voice remained calm but firm.
Eomma: They can sit at this table and eat like normal people.
Then she added quietly—
Eomma: I want to see the man who's been waiting for my word.
Y/N felt her chest loosen.
Relief flooded through her instantly.
She leaned her head gently on her mother's shoulder.
Y/N: Thank you, Eomma.
Eomma lightly tapped her cheek.
Eomma: Don't thank me yet.
Her eyes narrowed slightly in playful warning.
Eomma: I still have to see if he's as good as you say he is.
