Chapter 19
Chapter Nineteen
MURGUL
After carrying Gwendolyn to the cleansing chamber and back to our sleeping platform, I leave her safely ensconced in its comforting grasp.
She murmured a slurred goodbye as I leaned down to kiss her forehead before dressing and leaving our personal quarters.
We slept later than usual, and pleasuring her took up a good portion of the rotation.
Much to my surprise, I discovered it was after the midday mealtime when I arrived at the helm.
Glaring at Bikar, I realize I should have stayed where I was because my foolish brother has piloted the Zenith through the sleeping cycle to arrive just outside the reach of the Korgon ships’ long-range radar. Unfortunately for the Korgons, we saw them long before they were capable of seeing us.
Thankfully, with the advanced tech my brothers and I have installed on the Zenith over the orbital rotations, the vessel is essentially undetectable by any long- or close-range sensors, but that does not fill me with any level of confidence.
Before, there was nothing on board worth worrying about except for one another, and we all knew the risks involved in our current profession.
But now…
Now we have mates aboard, and I find myself questioning the validity of this so-called mission Bikar has instigated. To further my hesitation, I still have not informed Gwendolyn of what Bikar and I are doing. I have a sinking, gut feeling that this will come back to bite me in the arse.
Quit being such a dour male. We will go aboard, pillage their stores, kill a few of them, and return triumphant to our mate! It is going to be a grand time of mayhem, and our mate is going to be impressed at our prowess!
Pinching the bridge of my nose in frustration, I have to take a deep breath to maintain my composure, only to snap my head up when Bikar starts talking and going over the plan.
Again.
“I have initiated our approach; we will be close enough to dock with their ship in less than half a rotation. You need to proceed to the…”
My hiss of annoyance cuts him off midsentence, and he looks over at me with a slightly abashed expression before pausing for a tic. “Erm, apologies.”
Snorting at him, I spin on my heel to leave—time to get this shet over with.
Hurry up! I grow tired of waiting to be let out of my confinement.
I know… that is what worries me.
Vrog does not speak again, but his malevolent laughter speaks louder than any words ever could.
GWENDOLYN
Inhaling, I yawn and stretch as I emerge from one of the best post-coital naps I’ve ever had in my life. Sitting up, I rub the sleep from my eyes before peering around the room. “Murgul, honey, are you in here?”
Silence.
Well, that’s odd. He very rarely leaves me any longer than absolutely necessary.
Leaning over, I relish the delicious soreness in my pussy as I pick up my tablet and check the ship rotation time, only to stare in shock when I realize it’s what constitutes as midafternoon to early evening on the ship. That means I’ve slept most of the day.
Murgul and I did stay up pretty late talking last night… then this morning’s events weren’t exactly on a schedule, and now I’ve napped entirely too long.
Huffing, I flip the covers back and hop out of bed before heading to the bathroom.
Murgul cleaned me up earlier, but I still feel a bit grimy, and a shower will wake me up.
Entering the shower stall, I cleanse myself quickly and hit the button for the dryer.
Moving over to the sink, I scrub my teeth, brush my hair, and apply some product before hastily exiting the small room.
Forcing myself to focus, I grab the first dress I see and slip into it.
I’m not going for a fashionable look—for the first time in my life.
I’ve noticed that Murgul appreciates it when I wear pretty clothes for him, but out of respect for our burgeoning relationship, I refuse to wear anything as revealing as I did back on Earth.
Satisfied with my selection, I snag a pair of comfy shoes, put them on, and head towards the door in search of Murgul.
I’m cleaned, dressed, and out the door in what was most likely only twenty-ish minutes.
Proud of myself, I walk down the hallway with a spring to my step as I go in search of my mate.
Arriving at the dining hall, I walk through the open door only to stop when an empty room greets me.
Turning around, I head back and peer around the corner, only to feel a frown crease my face when I realize the armory door is shut.
Well, that’s strike two.
The only other place he could be is in the helm room.
Heading back the way I came, I arrive at the door to the helm room, only to run face-first into it when it doesn’t slide open upon my approach.
Groaning, I grab my nose as pain flares through my face.
Shortly after I arrived, Murgul made sure that I had access to all of the common areas on the ship.
He explained that I could either use the manual hand scanners or allow the ship to read something called my “bio-signature” to open doors.
This is the first time a door I have access to has not opened for me.
Hmm. Maybe the scanner isn’t working?
Reaching out, I lay my hand on the pad next to the door, only to frown in confusion when the pad flashes red. Knocking on the door, I call out. “Murgul… Bikar? Are either of you in there?”
Silence.
Growling in frustration, I stomp back to my room to get my tablet. I’m going to get answers one way or another, and I damn well better get them soon.
