Chapter 14 #3
There was only her —her soft curves, her warm skin, the way her breath quickened as my hands moved over her. I pressed her more firmly against the tent, the canvas creaking under our weight.
Her legs wrapped around my waist, her heels digging into my back as I deepened the kiss, my tongue tangling with hers.
Her hands moved down my chest, her touch both frantic and reverent. She tugged at my shirt, and I pulled it off, letting it fall to the ground.
The cool night air kissed my skin, but the heat between us was enough to warm me. I pressed my lips to her neck, nipping and sucking at the sensitive skin, my hands roaming over her back, her sides, her hips.
“Logan,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “What are we doing?”
I paused, my forehead resting against hers, our breaths mingling. “I don’t know,” I admitted, my voice hoarse. “But I can’t stop.”
She didn’t argue. Instead, she pulled me back to her, her lips seeking mine with a desperation that mirrored my own.
Her hands moved to my belt, her fingers fumbling with the buckle. I helped her, my hands shaking as I unbuttoned her leggings, sliding them down her legs.
She stepped out of them, her bare skin pressing against mine, and I groaned, my control slipping further.
The ground was hard and uneven, but I didn’t care. I laid her down gently, the canvas rough beneath her, and hovered over her, my weight supported by my elbows. Her eyes were dark with desire, her lips swollen from our kisses.
I pressed my mouth to hers again, my hands moving over her body, mapping every curve, every dip. Her fingers tangled in my hair, pulling me closer as she arched into my touch.
“Logan,” she whispered, her voice urgent. “I need you.”
I looked up, meeting her gaze. Her eyes were pleading, her lips parted, her chest rising and falling rapidly. I didn’t need to be told twice. I moved between her legs, my hands gripping her hips as I positioned myself at her entrance.
She was wet, ready for me, and I groaned, my breath catching as I pushed inside her, slow and steady. She gasped, her head tipping back as she took me in, her body tight and welcoming.
I paused, giving her a moment to adjust, before pulling out and thrusting back in, setting a rhythm that was both tender and relentless. The sounds of the fair were distant now, drowned out by our ragged breaths and the soft cries escaping her lips.
Her hands gripped my shoulders, her nails digging into my skin as I moved deeper, harder. I kissed her again, our lips crashing together as our bodies moved in sync.
The tension that had built between us all night was unraveling, thread by thread, and I felt it in every thrust, every moan, every touch.
“Logan,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I’m close.”
I quickened my pace, my hips snapping against hers as I drove into her, chasing my own release. Her body tightened around me, her walls clenching as she cried out, her orgasm rippling through her. I followed, my control snapping as I spilled into her, my groan muffled against her neck.
For a moment, we lay there, our bodies still joined, our breaths slowly returning to normal. The world outside the tent seemed to hold its breath, as if giving us this moment of privacy.
I rested my forehead against hers, my hands stroking her hair, her back. “We shouldn’t have done that,” she murmured, her voice soft but not regretful.
I smiled, a bittersweet twist of my lips. “Probably not.”
She laughed, a shaky sound that ended in a sigh. “But it felt good.”
“It did,” I agreed, my voice rough with emotion.
We stayed like that for a while longer, the silence between us comfortable despite the chaos of the fair just beyond the tent. Eventually, I pulled out, helping her sit up and adjust her clothes.
My shirt was long forgotten, and I didn’t bother looking for it. The night air was cool against my skin, but the warmth of what had just happened lingered.
Julia’s gaze met mine, her expression a mix of vulnerability and strength. “We need to talk,” she said, her voice steady but laced with uncertainty.
I nodded, my hand brushing her cheek. “We do.”
But for now, we stood there, the fairgrounds buzzing around us, the night stretching out before us like a blank canvas. Whatever came next, we’d face it together.
Or at least, I hoped we would.
The ending was far from certain, but for the first time in years, I felt a glimmer of hope. And that was enough —for now.
Later, as we lie tangled in each other, her fingers trace lazy patterns on my chest. I’ve never felt anything like this before.
Like she belongs here. Like I do too.
But reality slams into me when my phone vibrates.
I grab it, my stomach sinking at Frank’s name on the screen.
“What is it?” I ask, my voice rough from exhaustion.
Frank’s tone is urgent. “We’ve got a problem.”
Julia stiffens beside me.
I sit up. “What kind of problem?”
Frank exhales sharply. “Mac has an accomplice.”
I curse under my breath. “Yeah, we figured that.”
“No,” Frank interrupts. “You don’t understand.
The accomplice… they’re inside the sheriff’s office.”
Silence stretches between us. Julia grips the sheet tightly, her breath catching.
I clench my jaw. “Tell me everything.”
